Staying with Sue and Patrick is a unique experience. The birds and musky rat kangaroos that they have rescued are a treat to see up close. The cottage has impressive African decor from their travels. That, combined with the tropical landscape makes you feel like you’re in an exotic location. We brought our own food to make dinner and the kitchen was more than adequate to prepare a nice dinner. We wished we could have stayed longer than one night.

The wifi didn’t work for us.

We had the whole lodge to ourselves. Sue & Patrick were really lovely hosts - catering to all our needs- very passionate and knowledgeable about the surrounding rainforest and animals. Breakfast was nice. Daily visit from Fritz the parrot.

There was nothing we did not like! If you are to stay here just a heads up that you will need to get a hire car!

The breakfast was excellent and ample, and to have it delivered to the room by cockatoo is unique in my experience. Sue and Patrick are fine and interesting hosts - inveterate travellers themselves and wildlife carers. Feels very private and in the middle of the rainforest even though there are other properties nearby. Quirky African-themed decor is fun.

The drive is quite steep and some less mobile visitors might struggle with it. Having a car (own or hired) is pretty much essential. Wifi reception not great in rooms furthest from kitchen.

This is like staying at a retreat. Such a beautiful fully detached cottage set in the rainforest. All the facilities, hear the birds and a beautiful verandah area to relax. Patric and Sue were the most amazing hosts. Their love of Africa adds to the charm of the stay. From filtered and bottled rainwater to drink to having a space to cook and make our own meals, this was a wonderful stay.

Wifi seemed to drop out at night

I love the fact that the property is on 1 acre of pure rainforest so lots of animals around and its beautiful. The people were super friendly and allowed me to sit on their balcony to watch the birds come in. There are 2 separate bedroom with an ensuite in the middle. The other bedroom was blocked off so no one else could book while i was there and the whole house i had for myself which was awesome! Breakfast was really generous.

Sue and Patrick were extremely welcoming and showed us their wildlife sanctuary with extra welcoming from their birds( their cocky just loved my wife!). The accommodation was excellent with luxurious setting right in the forest. Everything was spotless and we couldn't recommend this place enough.

Sue and Patrick have spared nothing to make this the perfect stay in this beautiful environment a short drive from Kuranda township, and only 30' from busy Cairns yet a world away in this rainforest/garden environment. The bungalow is equipped with excellent cooking facilities if you would like to do your own meals, but close to Kuranda restaurants. Very tastefully decorated with an African theme. A very welcoming and friendly couple.

The tropical vibe, jungle proximity, verandah and kitchen facilities. Patrick and Sue are great hosts with a wealthy library of travel photos and stories worthy of anyone's time. Of course the cockatoo Fritz didn't disappoint us!!!

The place is amongst natural rainforest with lots of fauna there is a swimming pool to cool off the hosts are lovely and helpful if you wish to experience tranquility it's a place to stay.

Everything! Everything about the property made it difficult to leave. Sue and Patrick are wonderful people with lots of interesting life experience to share. They kindly sat with us and shared a lot about the wildlife found in their gardens and we had the chance to interact with their birds. The accomodation and the rainforest in which it is set is just beautiful. I'm really grateful to have booked here and crossed paths with two wonderful people whilst experiencing the delights of Ngorongoro Lodge. Thank you so much Sue and Patrick - all the best!😊

Not being booked in for much longer. I think if you can stay at this property for a longer time, you will get to see lots of incredible wildlife!
