The property is in the historic centre and a short walk to many restaurants and tourist sights. It’s also very close to various bus and train lines. It has its own restaurant where we ate one night. Breakfast starts quite late (8:30am) but the staff where kind enough to provide us with some at 8am as we had to leave early. The staff were also kind enough to tell us where we could buy tours to Teotihuacán in Zócalo Square as the hostel does not run tours on their own. We were allowed to leave our storage for no extra charge.
Not a great location if you want quiet! It was very loud so do bring your ear plugs! Also, it could do with some cleaning.. and a bit more lighting in the rooms. We had a cockroach dying on our shower floor. 😅

The Staff were amazing. They have great recommendations and are super helpful. The location is perfect. It can be loud during the day and then gets quiet at night. Great torterías around the area and even across the street
The wifi was not good, which will be a challenge if you plan to work from here. Breakfast was not the best. Can be difficult to get a taxi anywhere in the center, including to the hostel sometimes

Breakfast was so nice, a very pleasant surprise. Simple but so tasty and I was often looking forward to getting my breakfast in the mornings. The location is perfect in terms of proximity to things to see and do. It was so clean and the staff were so friendly, they couldn't do enough for you. I thought I'd be too old for hostels in my 30's but there was a lovely mix of all ages from young people up to people I'd say in their 50's!
It is a tad noisy, especially on weekend nights but honestly it didn't overly affect our sleep even though we were in bed most nights before 12.

My partner and I had an excellent time staying at Hostal Regina. We stayed in a private room with one full and one twin bed and access to shared bathrooms. The room was clean and spacious with a small balcony overlooking the street which we both absolutely loved. Towels were provided, but guests should bring or purchase their own body wash/shampoo/conditioner. The shared bathrooms were extremely clean at all times and had great hot water access. Breakfast was available every morning until 10am and included cereal, yogurt, coffee, tea, and one rotating main dish (e.g. chilaquiles, crepes, pancakes, or eggs +/- ham). Staff were available at the front desk 24/7 and were extremely helpful and friendly. (We really appreciated all the help we received from Luis!) It can be a little bit loud at night until ~1-2am given the location, so just be aware of this if you are someone who prefers peace and quiet. The hostel is located in a lively part of Centro Historico and is walking distance from countless shops and restaurants. We loved our stay and will definitely come back to Hostal Regina if we are ever again in CDMX. Excellent experience!
Really not much to say here. I suppose it could have been a little bit quieter at night, but we knew what we were signing up for and really had no issues with this -- that's the price you pay for a good location!

If when you travel a good shower becomes the most important thing, this is the place for you. The showers were pressure washers, at full blast they actually hurt a bit. Never queued for the shower or toilet either! Great communication through booking.com before I arrived. A useful pdf shared on arrival. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Always someone on reception for arrivals/departure or to let you in late at night. Big lockers by each bed, light, shelf and plug socket. Breakfast was always coffee, watermelon, yogurt and cereal plus a hot offer which changed daily. The woman’s only dorm was spacious and didn’t have bunk beds. The only thing was it is a mezzanine level and there is a bed next to the edge, occasionally things fell and I had to wait for someone to be in downstairs to get them back. Also that meant I had to go downstairs and round to the bathroom/shower. No big deal but a bit uncomfortable in pjs. Curtains would be useful to keep the mosquitoes out - this was the only place in a Mexico (for 2months) I was continually bitten, with bug spray on. Disappointed they didn’t advertise/organise any events/walking tours as there is so much in the city!

Staff was really nice and try to help with any questions you have. The place is well designed and the rooms are nice. The staff keep the place pretty clean. Location is ideal if you want to stay in the historic centre.
The breakfast isn't that great. Generally the same 2 items flip everyday. That could be improved or some creativity could be added. Also would be nice if they had a tour desk to share trips and book. Lastly the place isn't well insulated so it does get cold in the rooms at night during the winter season. But I asked for extra blankets which helped. Also more social events would also be a great way to have travelers meet.

i paid for a private room which was big with good wifi, nice bathroom, bug comfy bed- its a bit noisy outside but i found putting the big ceiling fan on drowned that out! Free breakfast and coffee is always welcome and free water to refill your bottle. Staff were really helpful all the time and spoke great English so very handy for me! Great location, loved the roof bar and free drinks, liked the restaurant/ bar downstairs...just loved the place!
small fridge in private room maybe? just an idea, not a big issue more promotion downstairs of walks or tours you can go on as i stay in hostels partly to meet people so doing group trips out would really appeal to me

This is THE place to stay if you want to visit the attractions in Centro Historico. Staff is very welcoming, their private rooms are very spacious, super clean and the central area is beautiful. Breakfast was included! I was afraid it would be too much of a party hostel but not at all, it was perfect!
The street vendor and pace in this neighborhood. We were glad that we stayed 2 nights to visit many attractions and be close to Arena Mexico for an unforgettable lucha libre wrestling night but as tourists in our mid 40's, we were obviously a lot more confortable in the Roma/Condessa area.

Big rooms, good and clean facilities. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location in downtown
The wifi was not really good, especially in our room. You do have a public space where you can work

The location is amazing, right in the center and about a 10 minute walk to the Zocalo. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are lots of spaces to hang out, work and/or socialise. The space is kept clean, and is well decorated. There’s a lot of natural light. I like that this place doesn’t use bunk beds, and that there were only 4 beds in the female dorm. The showers and bathroom were nice, clean and spacious. They have a guitar and board games, which is a plus for me. There a lovey rooftop but sadly it doesn’t seem to be open during the day (at least it wasn’t during my stay)
The kitchen isn’t very well equipped. It was just about ok to cook a basic meal, but a couple of good knives, as well as some basics, like oil, salt and pepper, would help. Sadly there weren’t any social events when I was there, but I’m sure it’s a great place to meet people when events are on. A bit noisy at night but that’s to be expected for somewhere so central.
