We were so pleased with the hotel and its staff that we decided to extend our stay by two more nights. Mona, who speaks and understands English, assisted us with our inquiries efficiently—she is intelligent, courteous, and highly capable. Another standout from the front office team was Kino, who also provided exceptional service. A special appreciation goes to the housekeeping and restaurant staff as well, including Ryan, a very soft-spoken and amiable Aussie. The breakfast and buffet dinner were excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed the happy hour, which featured a free flow of snacks and a wide selection of drinks. We highly recommend Il Azzuri. The staff, location, views, amenities, and rooms are all outstanding.

This hotel excels in every aspect—its rooms, facilities, restaurants, and most notably, its staff. The mostly young team, some of whom speak English, makes communication easier for English-speaking guests like us from Singapore. Their customer service is exceptional, and they are undoubtedly a great asset to the hotel. One bespectacled young man from the Front Office (whose name we unfortunately do not know) stood out as truly exceptional. He went above and beyond to assist us when we encountered a problem—where many might have simply shrugged it off, he took the initiative to help. Together with the housekeeping and restaurant staff, the Front Office team made our three-night stay an unforgettable experience.

Beautifully located right beside Dogashima. The balcony had a spectacular view of the cliffs and ocean, lovely sunset. There is no more renovation here, it is a wonderfully decorated hotel. They even have a happy hour where they have unlimited free drinks such as wine (white, red, rose wines), beer, soft drinks. They allow you to fill carafes to take to your room in a basket. There is plenty of free parking. The staff was attentive. There was a 7-11 3 mins walk away, as well as a spectacular sushi restaurant walking distance. Many other restaurants were nearby. The public baths were clean and overlooked the ocean. The sauna was large and clean. Highly recommend this hotel. The rooms were very big and clean.

We had 2 twin rooms for 2 nights. Both my family members and my friends who travelled with us like this hotel very much. Checkin was quite personal, and the staff explained everything in details. The hotel provides many types of complimentary snacks and free refreshment drinks such as quality juice, beers, sparkling wine, soft drinks, coffee and tea, etc at the lobby lounge corner in the afernoon. Some of us had footbath and felt so relax with these refreshment drinks while gazing over the beautiful sunsets. The room is spacious, cozy, clean and modern with an amazing view overlooking the coast of Dogashima. It equips with an open bath in the balcony. We could overlook the ocean and enjoy the scenery of its landscape. However, it is a pity that the water is not hot spring water. We tried the public onsen (hot spring) instead. The onsen was not too crowded. The hot spring water was so good and I felt so relax afterwards. It also helped to release the pain of my frozen shoulder. There was not many local restaurants which stay open at night around the area. We were glad that we chose half-board stay. Both buffet dinner and breakfast were excellent and delicious . We liked the fresh sashimi and ate lots of it. They also provided free Italian wine or alcohol-free drinks for dinner. The hotel certainly paid detailed attention to our needs. They provided mask envelop, towels, umbrella, etc in the lobby lounge. When we requested not to clean our rooms during our 2-nights stay, they rewarded us a 500-yen coupon card per room for our stay (1000 yen in total for 2 rooms) to spend at any convenient store in Japan in honour of our efforts to save the water. This was a bit surprise and it was the first time we received a small token of appreciation like that from a hotel.
It would be great if their email reply could have been more promptly.

Il Azzurri is a beautiful gem on the coast right above a lovely cove. The staff were so warm and friendly; it is the only hotel we stayed at in Japan where the staff regularly smiled. Do not miss the dinner and breakfast, the variety and quality of food is excellent and again, the staff are very responsive and helpful. The accommodations were also excellent; large clean, quite and gorgeous rooms. Next time we are in Japan I would like to spend more time to explore this area, including kayaking and snorkeling. Il Azzurri will be the place we stay again.
Honestly, nothing, our stay was perfect.

The staff was wonderful. We loved everything about this hotel. They have a little snack/drink bar with to-go baskets if you want to bring anything up to your room and everything is included. The dinner buffet was absolutely phenomenal. It was the best buffet I have ever had. Everyone in our family loved it and there was something for every pallet. The Onsen was so relaxing as was the outdoor foot bath looking out over the water. The hotel has the most beautiful unobstructed views of the water. The attention to detail at this hotel is above and beyond. I highly recommend staying here.
There was nothing that we didn’t like. Everything was perfect!

We spent 30 days in Japan, travelled from the north to the south, and stayed in 9 different hotels (cheap, fancy, old, new). Il Azzuri by far was one of the best ones we had the pleasure of being in. We enjoyed every second here and I could not recommend it enough. Not only was the view breathtaking, the staff incredibly friendly and helpful, and the location stunning- the actual room felt like it was designed by a traveller for travellers. We were honestly blown away by every tiny detail and the level of consideration in the design of the room. Little features like providing us with a Bose Bluetooth speaker, a whole vanity table for make up, a little lamp to take outside onto the balcony where our onsen hot tub was, being able to pick up complimentary swimwear on our way up to the room, the placement of all of the light switches, the incredibly quality of the pyjamas they provided, the placement of the feature sink with blinds that allow you to see into the room, and all of the ample space dedicated for luggage storage and ironing. I cannot express enough how perfect (and romantic) the room was and how much we enjoyed being in Izu. Thank you so much for making our stay so wonderful.
I loved everything about il Azzuri, and the ONLY thing I can think of (which really isn't criticism) is that the icing on the cake would have been a tiny little nespresso machine in the room 🙉 I would've never left the hotel if we could've had coffee in our room. I honestly just wish we stayed longer.

The spacious room was very comfortable and featured an incredible view of Tombolo, the natural land bridge during low tide. The drinks and amenities were a lovely surprise and made watching the sunset a very memorable experience.
Lots of renovation works were still underway which we didn't know about until a few days before our arrival. This meant the building was still covered in scaffolding, so we weren't able to see the hotel at its best. However, the staff ensured we had a room with an unimpeded view, which was lovely.

This hotel is located a few minutes walk from the Dougashima Park. It presented an unique experience, different in many ways from our experience with Japanese hotels elsewhere. Check in was very personal. Seeing us arriving in a car, a staff comes out to help our bags and this same staff will check in for us. First of all, she would ask us to sit down somewhere comfortably and she did all the required process from there. Afternoon drinks and snacks were very substantial, including wine, beer and quality juice. Whilst enjoying them in the scenic lobby was perfect, containers and carrying baskets were provided to allow us to carry them to room to enjoy. We never had that. The room was huge and modern. The view from our room is the most scenic and it comes with a balcony and a jacuzzi in it. We stayed half board. Both dinner and breakfast were buffet style and yet they were one of the best we had among hotel stays.
If I have to comment, the check in time at 1500 was very strict by placing a sign post outside the hotel entrance. It indicated to us that we are not even welcome to enter to wait even during a bad weather. The onsen was extremely well maintained but the variety of pools was quite limited. We were glad that we had jacuzzi in room.

The room location at Il Azzurri was fantastic. The window offered direct views of the ocean and Dogashima, and the balcony featured a private jacuzzi. The breakfast was particularly excellent, offering authentic Japanese cuisine. However, the heating system was inadequate. Although controlled by a remote, the temperature seemed unable to rise above 22 degrees Celsius, making it feel somewhat cold.
