The views were incredible - the pictures don’t do it justice. Heated pool upstairs was lovely, first heated pool we’ve had in Vietnam! The hotel and the beach are beautiful.

In Feb, lots of stuff wasn’t open ljke the downstairs outside bar etc - imagine it’s just because it’s low season. Shower in the room wasn’t great. We rented a moped and the security guys outside were pretty irritating as they shouted at us every time we drove up to park it outside!

Kudos to the management and staff of this hotel for the superb ambience and seamless service. The hotel feels like home. In an era where five-star ratings are often simply given to big-name hotels with subpar service, this hotel takes you back to a time when five stars genuinely signified excellence and meant something. There is an abundance of activities within the hotel, from the well-equipped gym and the game room to relaxing by the two pools on either side of the building, with amazing scenery, and the functional spas. The architecture is stunning, the interior decorations are impeccable, and the rooms are quiet. The staff are very friendly, easygoing yet very professional. The food and the breakfast are also excellent.

The variety for breakfast was outstanding, the rooms and views were great, the grounds including the nearby local beach was amazing. Everything was perfect and the Japanese restaurant was delicious. Will definitely return!

I felt very comfortable in this hotel. You can truly experience the old colonial style here, which made a great impression on me. I was particularly impressed by the restaurant, the terraces adjoining it, and the rooms. The hotel may not be brand new, but it still has its class and unique charm. There are pools around the hotel, which add to its beauty. We visited before the peak season, so it was very peaceful – no crowds, which allowed us to fully relax. I am very satisfied with my stay and believe that the price is excellent for such a high-class hotel. I would definitely love to come back!

From start to finish the hotel and staff were exceptional. The staff helped with all our enquiries from arranging trips into the nearest town to assisting where we could get a scooter to go round the island in. They were friendly ,polite ,I can't praise them enough from the housekeepers , front of house to all the staff in the restaurant and the bar. The room was a delight, comfortable and spacious with a great view over the bay. The massages we had were great value and excellent. The heated pool was great as it was too cold to use the others.. weather wasn't wall to wall sunshine. The pool man switched on the sauna and steam room for us to use. I am a bit concerned for the staff as the hotel did seem rather quiet and hope its not closing. Just you can no longer advance book it. It would be a massive shame

Such a beautiful hotel, perfectly situated with panoramic views as it sits right in between two bays. All furnishings were well thought out and put together creating an atmosphere that did not feel imitated or cheap and really felt luxury, we have never stayed somewhere so nice. The staff were all super super super lovely, so helpful friendly and fun and could not have made us feel more comfortable. We also used all the facilities like the spa and restaurants which were easy to book and get into and really good value for money. This is a hotel you don’t want to leave once you are in and is perfect for a luxury private getaway as part of a larger Vietnam trip or special weekend away if you live in SEA region. We found out that the hotel may be at risk of closing which would be such a shame and we really hope that this doesn’t happen as we would love to come back!

Nothing I could add! There are major renovations in Cat Ba at the moment which does not really effect the hotel experience but should be known about if you are planning to stay in Cat Ba, outside the oasis of the hotel there is not much open and much construction happenings as the bay on one side is being completely re developed as a new resort destination, the hotel itself is perfect though and on the main side of the hotel, you cannot hear or see any signs of this development.

Our stay at Hôtel Perle d'Orient Cat Ba - MGallery was absolutely unforgettable! The rooms were spacious, beautifully designed, and offered the most incredible views from our bedroom. We couldn’t get enough of the stunning scenery. The Japanese restaurant was a standout, and breakfast was equally amazing with a fantastic variety of delicious options. The cocktails were delicious, making our evenings extra special. The hotel is about a 15–20 minute walk from the main bay, but it’s easy to get into town as there are usually open taxis waiting at the bottom of the hotel. They charge just 10,000 dong each (around 33p), which was super convenient. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we felt welcome throughout our stay. Honestly, we couldn’t fault the hotel—it’s the perfect place for a relaxing and luxurious getaway. Highly recommend!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this remarkable hotel and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. The view from my room was absolutely breathtaking, offering a panoramic vista that truly enhanced my stay. Situated in a prime location, it was incredibly convenient to explore the surrounding area, with numerous restaurants and amenities just a short stroll away. What truly set this hotel apart, however, was the exceptional service provided by the staff. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism, and throughout my stay, they went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction. Their dedication to making my experience memorable was truly commendable. Additionally, the hotel's proximity to a picturesque walking area further added to its charm. Taking in the stunning scenery while enjoying a leisurely stroll was the perfect way to unwind and appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Whether you're seeking a relaxing getaway or simply want to soak in the beauty of the locale, this establishment offers everything you could possibly desire. There's lots to like at this hotel. The breakfast is incredible and you can't beat the views, especially from the 11th floor pool which was always basically empty. It's got great gym facilities and places for relaxing. There were a few days when we didn't leave the resort because we're lazy its got everything you need.

As you may expect at a five star it's a bit pricier than outside the resort. Water was the most shocking, 70,000 VND (80,000 when they add VAT and service charge) for 0.5 litres. If you leave the resort though you can find 1.5 litres for 15.000 VND and if you're feeling sneaky you can fill it back up at the water cooler in the gym. Also! Think again if you want to use the laundry service. We spent close to £60 (2,000,000 VND) for 2-3 grams of laundry. Just stay stinky.

We had a wonderful stay at CAT BA! The hotel’s location was fantastic, and our room was impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. The view from the balcony was breathtaking. We really enjoyed the food, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The beach next to the hotel was peaceful and serene, making our stay even more relaxing. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting!

The only aspect that could be improved is the half-board meal option. Since it was a set menu (the same for lunch and dinner) and mandatory for two people, my brother and I couldn’t choose different meals and always had to agree on the same dish. It would be great if each guest could select their own meal. Please consider reviewing this for future guests.
