We drove from Valencia across Spain heading to Portugal. We stopped as we neared the border, around 8 pm, as we were tired. What a lovely surprise to find a hotel this nice, clean and modern, way out in the middle of western, rural Spain. We honestly didn’t think we’d find something half as good. Super clean, lovely modern interior design and bathroom. Breakfast included. Café just outside the front door served up some of the best food of this entire trip!

Nothing. We will go out of our way to stay here whenever we drive from our home in Portugal to visit friends in Madrid.

Before you read the rest of this review I have to tell you that La Encomienda is is a lovely, modern, well managed hotel. I arrived in the rather dismal old town area and drove into the scruffy-looking Plaza de España to find the hotel closed. I was let in by other guests who were on their way out who explained that I would have received a WhatsApp message to confirm instructions for entry to the hotel and my room. That’s all well and good but I hadn’t had internet access all day. If I’d known the system I would have found internet access along my route and all would have been well. There was a number to call on the door, which I did, and explained my situation. I was delighted when the owner arrived almost immediately and checked me in. Being in the dismal plaza opposite the church and the ayuntamiento I wasn’t expecting much from the accommodation but it was absolutely brilliant. The room was bright and pristine with modern classy fittings. I chose the hotel because I could park in the square, which I did, and eat in the Cafetería Degustación next door, which I didn’t because they’d decided not to open that night!! If I’d known that, I would have located somewhere nearby before I arrived. The owner of La Encomienda recommended a restaurant on the main road, which I couldn’t find. I had passed a few bars & takeaways en route so turned back, asking a few people for the location of a restaurant as I walked along. I eventually ate at the first one I came across. It offered a reasonable quality three course menu including wine for 14€. The hotel offered breakfast but, as I only ever have a coffee & tostada, I had that next door which was now open – and very busy too. La Encomienda is a lovely hotel, very reasonably priced with parking outside and, if Cafetería Degustación had been open for dinner, I would have enjoyed a very pleasant relaxed evening.

The TV remote didn't work with the tv. The TV remote worked but was not synced with the TV... it belonged to a deferent TV for sure.

+ Beatiful room with comfortable beds. + Fully equipped, including a mini refrigerator. + Everything clean and modern.

- Not a big deal, but the staff asked me twice (Check-in & Check-out time) to pay the stay. I guess they don't usually receive customers who pre-pay at Booking.com.

The location was great. Very central

It was new and very well designed. Quality materials and excellent interior decoration.

Very friendly staff. Nice rooms, escpecially for this price. Will definitely stay here again when I am in the area.
