’m not sure if it was officially allowed, but since my train arrived so early, I was kindly allowed to check in early and even have a light breakfast—such a nice gesture! The facilities were very comfortable, and the location was perfect. Kemijärvi is a small, walkable town, making it easy to reach the train station, the avanto (ice swimming spot), and the swimming pool. It has a friendly, authentic feel, with fewer tourists compared to other destinations. An unexpected bonus? I saw the best auroras I’ve witnessed in a long time while staying here!

I fear they may have had fewer guests since the pandemic and issues with Russia—when I opened the desk drawers, I found Kemijärvi newspapers from 2019/2020 (don't worry I left a new newspaper with the Avanto information for the next guests, along with the vintage papers) Looking more closely, I noticed some dust in the corners, and my room had a faint lingering smoke smell, as if someone had smoked there a long time ago. I arrived on a Sunday, so unfortunately, I couldn’t use the sauna that day. However, the staff were incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable, so I didn’t mind too much. Overall, a comfortable and welcoming stay with just a few minor areas for improvement!

Restaurant is not open in the evenings in September. Too bad, as food was great last time I visited (Aug 2023). Toilet hand soap dispenser was empty. There was no shower gel or shampoo in shower, but instead there was foamy hand soap in the shower dispenser... Only one extra pillow in a two person room. Bath towels were quite small.

Great location. K-market nearby. Decent breakfast. Nice staff. Plenty of parking space. Fridge in room.

The place is a bit worn out. Bathroom was renovated a few years ago but it was already moldy. There was a bad sewer smell on the corridors the first night. Kitchen was not open in the evening, the only option for dinner is pizza-kebab or K-market and microwave oven.

Excellent lunsj and breakfast. Great location, very sentral. Fridge in room. Grocery store just across the street and walking distance to other shops. Short walk to the beach. Parking behind hotel.

The room vas very hot. Just a small hatch that can be opened. On the positive side it had a mosquito net ;)

Costume service perfect, Lotta was so lovely with us, and the rooms are such clean and quiet, the modern tv if you wanna use Netflix, there are many supermarkets around the hotel. It was incredible! Thanks Lotta!

They've prepared for us some vegan food for breakfast, that was really good. They also have one nice vegan meal in the restaurant :) Warm and quiet room. Three supermarkets are very close around.

I prefer a firm mattress, but was not the case here.

The early closing hour of the bar (10 pm). Understandable, though, given the site of the town and , consequently, of the potential patronage.

Very friendly and helpful staffs. Wonderful breakfast. The restaurant and reception area are spacious and atmospheric. Nice sauna experience. Cozy room with a nice view. Best location for being close to the market and bus station.

The location of the socket in the room is a little difficult to use.

The restaurant on the first floor is delicious. I highly recommend dining there. The hotel rooms are average, but it was super quiet and warm to sleep in.

We arrived at 9pm when sauna closes but we still got the chance to use it (which we did). The room was comfortable and had everything that was needed. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was good.

The view from the room was to the parking lot.
