This was a great location and a fabulous old building. For simple country pub accommodation, the rooms exceeded expectations. Bonus - the very friendly cat who jumped through my window to say hi and the lovely lady who appeared to be "Jill of all trades" and came to our table for a chat and offer to put the heating on in the dining room for us the next morning during breakfast. What a gorgeous lady!

It is a shame that the restaurant was not operating. We were doing the Otago rail trail and would have preferred to have a nice meal rather than just bar snack type food.

The food was delicious and very reasonably priced, and the staff and service was above expectations. Thank you for a lovely dinner. We recommend it to others.

Ideal for us. We loved the character of the place and all the history.

We thought to be more in keeping with the place, jars of jam etc in the breakfast room would be more in keeping instead of little plastic containers which add to pollution etc.

Lovely old pub with art deco features everywhere. Manager / owner was very friendly and helpful. Gave us our room a little early so we could freshen up and put on our wedding clothes in time to get to the wedding. The free continental breakfast was fine. Lunch (Bangers & Mash) was good too.

Door rattled loudly if windy with window open.

Loved the art deco features and the guest lounge. These older hotels have so much 'personality'.

The hotel was very clean and the room was very clean. I wonder why accommodation venues insist on using so much deodorising spray/insect repellent in their rooms. Also, a little CRC on the doors would stop the squeaking.

Friendly staff, clean and tidy room, comfortable bed. An old hotel with photos of the early settlement of the community. Otago Central Rail Trail across the road of the main street. Breakfast was self serve cereal and toast which suited me.

Great old Deco style hotel, in the middle of town. The manager was great and let us securely store our motorbikes. Breakfast is included and the hotel is very tidy. The rooms are quite plain but that is how these hotels were.

We throughly enjoyed and can highly recommend the lovly deco hotel in Ranfurly. Our stay was made so much more special by a lovly bouquet and bottle of wine being presented to us by management and staff, the occasion being our 61st Wedding Anniversary.Hilary and Matthew King King. Gore.

Such a great classic old hotel done up so nicely. Lovely super clean and comfortable ensuited room. Hospitality in the "regions" is everything it's cracked up to be, warm, honest and friendly. Took the roast of the day option for dinner and not disappointed, even after a huge day of back country biking and the consequential appetite! Easy to recommend.

Was woken up a bit early by a large truck & trailer warming up in the large open parking area behind the hotel. Fairly sure the truckie was en-route as had arrived in the evening prior and off early so perhaps this would be a rare occurence. Wasn't a big disruption.

Very reasonably priced; friendly staff at reception, the restaurant and bar; everywhere was very clean; lovely meal in restaurant and great continental breakfast included in the price. Will definitely be staying here again!
