I didn't expect it to be so nice after reading all the reviews. Yes it's old but totally fine. I think people need to consider that it is the cheapest hotel around and has a great location. This Hotel should be definitely rated over 7 a shame people review it so badly just for their Internet and older facilities. Internet suggestion for guests: get a sim card and hot spot your devices this is cheaper and great connection in all rooms.

Pre booked Taxi to Airport didn't come in time. But this is more a let down from the taxi driver not the hotel and staff organised different taxi.

King Solomons is situated very conveniently within the town area. They have friendly and helpful staff. I like their eating options, very good pizza and dishes. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

Unfortunately, power outages is always a challenge in the Solomon Islands, so it's best to be prepared. The room gets stuffy very quickly without air con and I wasn't fortunate enough to have a room that was prioritised for the back up generator. At least, the power outages dont last long. The elevator cart sometimes doesn't work and so we will need to travel up the full steps (I was on the fourth Level.)

Perfect location, right in the centre of Honiara, just a block or two away from the museum, art gallery, handicraft market, Our Telekom office, and post office. So it's a great base for walking around and exploring the town. The funicular railway to get to your room is a fun experience and worked fine, although sometimes a little slow when it's busy. The room was comfortable and spacious. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The whole property could do with some maintenance. Restaurant was disappointing. WiFi was only free in the lobby - they offer a paid option for the room, but it's very expensive and only covers one device, so it's not really usable. Cheaper to buy a local SIM card with a lot of data instead. Considering the high price, I'd expected the hotel to be in better shape overall.

Hotel is one of very few hotels at Honiara. So, it is not luxury hotel, but considering that there is no many options to stay in Honiara, that hotel is very good. It is maybe a bit more expensive concerning the room shape, but as said - not many places to choose... It is safe, cable car ride from reception to the hotel levels is very unique, and hotel have options for meals... Again, Honiara is not developed in touristic terms, so not many restaurants around to choose, better to eat in the hotel... Hotel to stay for few nights.

Room could be renovated a bit, place of the hotel in not on the beach/seaside, but that is not the problem since it is 5 min walk... Beaches can be reached by taxi or by local crowded buses. Wifi is available only at the hotel lobby.

The furniture is dated but the room was pleasantly clean. Good running AC and hot water. Small working fridge, and the room is serviced every morning. Very lovely local staff, always tried to help.

Hot water ran out on the third day, so the remaining 3 days were cold. Function on Friday night at the hotel with loud music and noise so could not sleep. Guests were not informed. Mosquitoes in the room. No free internet.

The reviews of this hotel are unnecessarily harsh. The room was acceptable for the budget category. The balcony was nice to have. The funicular-style elevator is very unique. The entire place has tremendous character. Because the only wifi is in the lobby, you are likely to make some new friends. The staff is excellent. They do everything they are supposed to be doing. There’s nothing wrong with the food at this restaurant either for breakfast or dinner. The bar is also good. No problems with hot water or water pressure or the air conditioning. if you want a higher end accommodation, there are plenty of other choices.

There was music at night-club-level volume on a Saturday night. Ear plugs will not help.

The room I had this time was so much better and more accessible than the last time! Level 2 was GREAT! The restaurant was great and the staff absolutely wonderful.

The lift breaking down so often.... and mostly when it was raining!

The accommodation was basic, but had everything you needed. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good and the restaurant / bar area pleasant. The reception area was the only place to access WiFi, although they are trialing another "hotspot" service which worked well for me in the room. Great central location in Honiara.

The room we stayed in needed a bit of basic maintenance to get everything functioning as it should.

A character filled hotel with air conditioning which was very welcome in January. My room was very large and the bed comfortable. The renowned funicular lift was fun (although it didn't work both times when I had to transport my luggage!). I didn't use the pool but I imagine it would have been good. Staff were generally friendly and helpful and helped to organise my taxi transfer. Great to have breakfast on offer (it wasn't free though as mentioned on the website).

The bathroom seriously needs a plumber. The cold water basin tap could not be switched on. I mentioned it to the cleaners who said they'd send someone to have a look but no one came. The old shower worked well but could not be properly switched off so I needed to keep the bathroom door closed to block out the constant dripping sound. Some of the steps up the hill are starting to rot and I trod carefully. A heavy person might step right through them! Sometimes the lift doesn't work and this could cause an injury going up the stairs as some of the handrail is also rotting. No wifi in the bedrooms meant sitting in the heat in Summer (even with the fans on) down in the lobby.

Breakfasts excellent (Thanks Lorna) Dinners also excellent in hotel's restaurant Room serviced daily. Very clean (Thanks Beauty) Wifi in foyer. Fridge, a/c, and fan all worked. I like the friendly staff and the character of King Sols. The cable car is a classic.

Not much. The King Sol met my needs. We were allocated rooms over the pool on day two by request which were great. Also much better for our group of three to be together.
