We chose this place because it was close to the airport and we had a plane to Cape Town early in the morning next day.  And it was absolutely the right choice. Just 10 minutes from the airport and you find yourself in a wonderful oasis. It's a pity that we were there in the winter, because in the summer, I think, it's incredibly beautiful there. Beautiful well-groomed territory, a comfortable cozy place to relax with a small pool and a place for a bonfire. Very friendly and caring owner who helped to burn the fire and it was a very nice moment.He gave us a delicious dinner. We spent the evening playing billiards. The room had everything you needed - a kettle and a refrigerator, water and coffee with tea. In the bathroom shampoo and soap. The beds were very comfortable, the blankets were warm. Air conditioning heated the room very quickly. Good  internet. Early in the morning the owner arranged a delicious and varied breakfast. The view from where dawn began was stunning. Highly recommend this wonderful lodge

The airport transfer was excellent and reasonably priced. Breakfast provided great choices and good value. The dinner menu was varied and again costs of food and drinks were cheap. The rooms are a bit dated but all furnishings are comfortable and practical. The garden surrounding the property is truly fantastic with incredible bird life for any enthusiasts staying at Avant Garde Lodge.

No lunch available on the premises so any order had to be brought in which was confusing. Dinner orders had to be placed in advance though this did not inconvenience us.

The Accommodation was fantastic, Dinner and breakfast were as good as home cooked meals, the fire was nice, very professional staff. The location is great and easy to access, secure with a an enchanting garden.

I am grateful that the hotel arranged a lift from the airport at about 6:00 am allowed me to check in very early. On it's own that is worth 10 out of 10. The hotel also organised a tour for me that was brilliant. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast and dinner was fabulous. Excellent cooking and menu. The room was large and comfortable with a separate bathroom. They did everything I required to manage a short stay in Johannesburg.

I couldn't get the tv to work but that was no problem as internet was all I needed. The property is a bit isolated so you require transport to get you anywhere.

We booked a while ago and at that moment trasfer from airport was complimentary. I do understand that a lot changed through more than 6 months especily prices snd econimics. But still I contacted the lodge about that and they managed to do it for free. Just because they keep their promises. Absolutely loved thr way how they deal in inconvenient situation and puts huge amount of effort to keep the client happy. Good luck guys!!! And once again thank you for the pleasant stay

Perfect location to rest after a long flight. Extremely friendly and helpful owner, comfortable room, beautiful lounge areas both inside and outside and delicious food. Thank you for accommodating us so well, Armand!

The only downside was that the bathroom door could not close, very annoying with small children :)

When I arrived I was quite tired from long flights so it was a pleasure to have a comfortable quiet room with plenty of tea and coffee to relax in for a few hours before going into the garden to enjoy a sun downer whilst gently rocking on the swing seat reading my book. Dinner was delicious and enjoyed outside after which I sat by the campfire watching the full moon rising whilst finishing my wine.

No complaints from me - I'll be back!

Good location- convenient for Airport, but sufficiently far away that it felt peaceful and out of the way. Great shuttle service - Thanks France! Lovely hot shower. Cosy bedding.

Floors were still being relaid when I arrived, so not everything had been put back in place, but this was well compensated for by the prices and how welcome I was made to feel - Thanks Josie and staff. I was a bit cold in my room - should have upgraded to a fire!

For someone who travels allot for work, it was amazing to have what tasted like a home cooked meal.

the dinners were wonderful; best steak, and a wonderful potjie!!! airport pick up, helpful advice, we had a friend to visit and it was wonderful to sit in the garden and chat. Thank you avant garde!
