Lovely cottage! We stayed in cottage 4, which is very quiet as it is not next to the (exten) pool and it has a wonderful view over the winelands. There is an extra pool for the cottages (and one for the rooms in the main building). The stuff was very very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our relaxing time and would have loved to stayed longer.

We had a VERY big black/brown spider on the wall in the room. It took us by surprise even though I had read it in another review before. So just be prepared for that or ask the stuff about the spiders when you arrive. Just one more thing: We payed 25€ for the laundry (only a few cloths) (although it was ready after a few hours and was done very nicely, which was of course great, it is cheaper to let it be done at other places).

I was upgraded to studio style accommodation away from the main rooms. It felt like my own little sanctuary. I arrived early and did not have to wait to check in. My only neighbours were the peacocks (gorgeous but entirely self-involved) and the chicken (aloof). Breakfast was delicious: the staff were attentive, helpful and cheerful. The place is stunning and expansive with wonderful views. The pools are lovely too. It is easy to get into town in a cab. I felt safe and secure and at ease.

The room was extremely comfortable, the view was amazing (really and literally took my breath away)! The property is very quiet, great place to rest. I really enjoyed breakfast - 3 options were provided everyday, catering for everyone in my opinion. It was a pleasant surprise as I do have dietary restrictions. I did 3 spa treatments and they were great as well.

The property is 20min away from Stellenbosch Central and it is extremely difficult to find a Uber. It is obviously outside of the management's control so my advice would be to make booking in advance.

The staff is excellent! Very friendly and provided super service. The property is nicely manicured and is set in a vineyard. Our villa was very comfortable, well-appointed, and well maintained. A full cooked to order breakfast was included each day. The property is about 10 minutes from town, so it is very conveniently located.

A bathtub might have been nice. The shower was huge and had multiple shower heads, so that was more than adequate.

Sugarbird Manor exceeded our expectations in every way. The stunning mountain views from our room were simply breathtaking, and the in-room coffee was a delightful perk to start our mornings. The breakfast spread was a feast for the senses, offering a delicious variety of options. We also appreciated the thoughtful touch of the "honesty" bar, which was well-stocked with a curated selection of drinks. Overall, our stay was incredibly relaxing and enjoyable. We can't wait to return.

LOVED our stay at Sugabird so much, I wish we had booked more than 2 nights. The bedroom was perfect size, clean and had all the amenities you needed. The courtyard the bedroom looked out to was absolutely beautiful, a real “zen” area. The living rooms were vast and the pool area was tranquil bliss. Breakfast served on the patio with beautiful views was such a wonderful way to start our day and was delicious! Yanis was excellent, we had many a good conversation with him and nothing was too much of an issue for him. We took a stroll around the vineyards one morning which was a lovely way to start the day, and it’s a short drive into stellenbosch town. Uber does work there but from our experience it was hit and miss so for piece of mind I would recommend using a driver for your stay there.

It was difficult to choose a hotel in the area for long weekend. We booked Sugabird based on high ranking and promise to have enough space for our family. And it was right choice. We liked every moment being there. We stayed in room 8 at first. It was much bigger than what you usually get for this money in Cape Town. After it we moved to the cottage 2. It was perfect for self catering. Host was really kind and helped a lot to navigate through the area. I do recommend.

don’t expect wine testing but an amazing view and flower garden will compensate it

The placa is absolutely amazing. The view of the mountains and the vineyards is incredible and sitting in the pool area to contemplate the landscape was one of the most relaxing moments of our holiday. We had booked one night but upon arrival we loved so much we booked an extra night. All the staff were also super nice and helped us to reserved tours and restaurants for dinner so we didn’t have to worry about anything during our time there.

Nothing

The sheer beauty of it! No sound of traffic. It is the most beautiful little get away! This was the third stop on our honeymoon in Cape Town and they upgraded us and gave us a complimentary bottle of bubbly. Megan is just the nicest! We will definitely return! We also saw a peacock pass by the front of our room! The bed warmer was lovely too.

Everything was perfect! A fridge in the room would be nice! But not a bother at all.

There is plenty to like: Very attentive and friendly host, very nice property / setting, spacious and well-equipped rooms, fresh and delicious breakfast, very close to nature, cute cuddly cats! The location is idyllic and a 10-minute drive away from the city centre. Good base to explore the winelands.

Not much really. Could feel a bit lonely due to low number of guests during low season. Adding a washing machine that long-staying guests could use would be a huge plus.
