Beautiful property. We stayed here one night for my birthday and the room was absolutely beautiful and nicely set up. My favourite thing is the wood burning fireplace in the room which made for an extremely cost atmosphere. The property itself is pretty and in a nice area a short 4min drive from the old historic part of Swellendam. Lana helped us book a nice dinner (the last table) in town upon our arrival and was very sweet. The room had nice complimentary touches (coffee, rusk, etc.). This room would be great for couples or family with 1 or 2 small kids as there are bunk beds in the room.

Nothing to dislike.

Convenient stop on our way to the Garden Route. Close to Marloth Nature Reserve offering scenic walks and trails. Close to town for museum and shops, restaurants and coffee shops. Braai (bbq) facilities (all included) was excellent. Furnishings/ decor were top notch. Recommend stay longer than 1 night.

The one swimming pool was quiet whenever we used it but would maybe get busy if all the guests were using it at the same time? The second 'swimming pool' was a little splash pool delightful for cooling your feet off or for small children

Room was very nice with everything required for self catering. Clean, with decent shower, toilet & vanity. Nice kitchen with fridge and wash basin, etc. Outdoor Braam area should you have required it. Staff were helpful with suggestions of restaurants to eat at and places to visit.

Parking facilities were a bit tight for the number of cars parked on the premises. Gate onto the property did not close. Security a bit relaxed for someone from JHB. WiFi a bit slow. TV Remote was missing.

Room was lovely but wasn't the one I'd booked, The hotel moved me to a smaller room than booked, as they had overbooked and had a family staying in the room I had requested. My replacement room was lovely so no really complaint but no apology for the room change would have been nice.

Paid extra for breakfast to be in the fridge, but was a little disappointed with the quality of the produce.

Friendliness of the staff and that I could check in at an earlier time. The deluxe room was spacious, clean and ticked all the boxes for going the extra mile. House-keeping was a bonus as we didn't have to worry about washing up dishes, cleaning the bathroom or making up our bed. I will definitely promote the Hilltop Country Retreat any time. Thanks for your wonderful services.

Beautiful setting, large room, bed is very comfortable, friendly and helpful host at reception. Book out ime was at 11am only which was a bonus!

Everything was beautiful. After the booking, I did not hear or receive any whatsapp or sms from the venue to welcome us and was a bit worried if our booking was still valid, since I booked some time ago. However, apart from that, we had a lovely stay and we met the owners, lovely people, the next morning at departure.

That there is everything in the room what you need, kitchen, gas stove, coffee machine and stock coffee, tea and the like. Big and good bed. The price quality is excellent. During loadshedding, you can just watch TV and have light from your night lights. That was really great.

Sunbeds by the pool are in need of renewal. They're all broken. There is little to do in the area. 1 night is enough.

Nice location, quite at the top area of Swellendam. Spacy sleeping rooms. The entire appartment was clean and well equipped. There is a swimming pool you can use parking space next to reception. Load shedding is happining but this is all over ZA.

Personally don´t like the energy saving lamps they create "cold light" but this is question of taste.

Well equipped. Enormous bed. Accommodated load shedding. Nice fireplace although we didn't use it. Nice coffee options. Serviced daily which was unexpected. Onsite parking. It was very rainy, so it was helpful having concrete pavers from the driveway to the unit entrance. Nice little courtyard off Room 2.

The WIFI could have been better, but perhaps it was because of loadshedding. It may be better at other times.

Jane was lovely and warmly welcomed us. The unit has a well equipped kitchen, large bedroom and a private patio. The location was also quite nice for us and the pool was inviting.

The room had an overwhelming smell (maybe due to poor ventilation and the wood in the room). We left the patio door open for a couple of hours and this helped with the smell. Noise coming from above unit was irritating and interrupted sleep. Cleaning needs more attention.
