The accomodation is on a beautiful, tree shaded street in a quiet and tranquil residential area, one block from the Drostdy Museum complex (well worth a visit) and gardens. Several restaurants are within easy walking distance. My large, spacious, and well-lit room was on the second floor and looked out over landscaped grounds towards the mountains framing a backdrop to the town. The full English breakfast is cooked to order and served in a spacious common room with a large veranda area for those wishing to enjoy the view outside or braais. My bed was firm but extremely comfortable and covered with a great comforter and duvet. Shower water pressure was excellent as was the WiFi. And Patrick is a gracious host with helpful assistants, helping him to hold down the fort while his wife was in England during my stay.

The accomodation and grounds are actually better in real life than the nice pictures might lead one to conclude. I would not hesitate to stay at The View B&B again!

We stayed here for two nights on our way from Cape Town to the Garden Route to explore De Hoop Nature Reserve. Our room had a very comfortable bed with two chairs, a fridge and a TV with Netflix. There were also cups and glasses as well as coffee powder, tea and milk. The bathroom was large and clean and well equipped with a shower and bathtub. There were also plenty of sockets in the room and on both sides of the bed. The hotel is located in a quiet side street with a view of the mountains. It has a common room and a communal terrace. Breakfast (7 - 9 am) is served either inside or outside depending on the weather. It is prepared by the owners themselves and consists of coffee or tea and orange juice, a beautifully presented glass of muesli, yoghurt and fruit as well as a plate of eggs (p.e. scrambled eggs), bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms and toast with butter and honey. And the breakfast tasted very good and we also really liked the atmosphere in the breakfast area. The owner also gave us tips for our excursion to De Hoop Nature Reserve and for our further trip along the Garden Route. Overall, everyone was super friendly and helpful. We were able to park in the secure courtyard without any problems. There were also restaurants within walking distance.

There was a pool in the garden, but unfortunately there was currently no water in it. As it wasn't that warm in the evenings during our stay, it was no problem for us in this case.

This hotel was by far the best place we stayed on our trip. The breakfast was sumptuous and splendid, the welcome we got was like a welcome home, and every need was catered for. The weather was very cold but we we’re delighted to find electric blankets on the bed as well as a heater in the room. The tea and coffee selection was great and we got a cute bar one to snack on each! If we could give 11/10 as a rating we would. Definitely will be back and sad we only stayed one night, thank you Patrick!!

This place is a gem! The room was very cozy, the bed was super comfy, the breakfast was delicious and the garden was a delight!! I had such a great weekend away. Thank you Patrick (and Gray) for a fabulous stay. I'll see you again... hopefully soon.

The main door to the room was 'sticky' and difficult to open.

Great location, just off the N2 in a quiet residential street but within walking distance to several restaurants. Comfortable room, great bed & shower. Patrick & Gray were perfect hosts, Patrick was a mine of information both locally for a great hike and future holiday options. Lovely breakfast on the patio looking out on the mountains. Perfect!

Extremely friendly and nice host. Felt super welcomed and got good tipps for excursions in the area. Really nice view from the terrace while having breakfast. Spacious room with a little terrace.

The place feels a bit outdated and might need some renovations.

The Breakfast was taasty and well prepared and presented . The rooms were spotless and very comfortable indeed - I am definitely going back there. Also very conveniently and within walking distance to coffee shops, restaurants and historic buildings.

The value for money. The staff is always available to assist. Swellendam is beautiful. The room was adequately equipped. The breakfast was great.

Wifi is a little weak. The room was not completely clean. Hot water only lasted for my partner's shower. Passage is a bit noisy. Too little blankets.

This is a nice B&B run by a very friendly host. The breakfast was outstanding. The property is in a very safe and central part of Swellendam. Altogether, I would recommend staying here.

The room was comfortable, but, in terms of value for money, we stayed in much more modern rooms at similar rates elsewhere in South Africa. This is not the quietest of B&Bs: sounds from the living room and kitchen could clearly be heard in our room.

Amazing stay, perfect quiet retreat! Patrick and staff went above and beyond to accommodate. Great recommendations for what to do in the area; a ride home from dinner when it got dark; amazing breakfasts and a beautiful home. As a solo female traveler, they made sure I felt safe. Thanks again!
