Overall, our experience was superb. The ambiance of the venue and the hospitality of your staff truly exceeded our expectations. We were particularly impressed by the warm welcome we received at reception and the exceptional service provided by your maintenance staff member, whose name I unfortunately do not remember. He went above and beyond by even washing our cars, a gesture that we greatly appreciated.

I did want to bring to your attention a couple of areas where we believe improvements could be made. We noticed an unpleasant smell in the carpets of our rooms, which detracted from the otherwise wonderful atmosphere of the hotel. Additionally, the fans in our rooms were not functioning, which made our stay a bit uncomfortable during warmer periods. We believe that addressing these issues will greatly enhance the overall experience for future guests. Thank you for your attention to these matters, and we look forward to the possibility of returning to Magoebaskloof Hotel in the future.

Location is stunning. Views from the rooms and main areas are beautiful. Meals were good, especially those that can be ordered from the menu. Lucky the chef and Stanford our restaurant butler was over accommodating and went out of there way to impress. Maintenance and Housekeeping was attended to right away when reported and we received friendly service from Michael who has been with the hotel for 39 years. Special mention of staff: Caroline, Stanford, Lucky, Loando, Frans, Densel, Clara, Mickael.

The staff definitely made our stay exceptional. Without the staff, that hotel would not be what it is today. My husband and I work at a 5 star lodge called Singita and our expectations and eye for detail set the ‘bar’ very high. In saying this, there are minor maintenance and attention to detail factors that were mentioned and dealt with during our stay, but the staff’s friendliness, eager service, professionalism and beautiful smiles and personalities made our stay fantastic. Can’t think of anything negative

I loved the staff that was willing to go the extra mile, especially Christina. She is an amazing staff member, and the hotel can be extremely proud to have her on the team! Amazing experience, beautiful area, and loved the overall stay at Magoebaskloof Hotel!!! Thank you so much to everyone for making our weekend so special together.

I wouldn't really say there was anything that we didn't like. We loved everything. Maybe the only thing we didn't like was the fact that the time went by too fast

A nice place to stay, located on beautiful property with views from each room over the landscaped property, pool, and hills. The hotel appears to have been an elegant retreat at one time, beginning with its opening in 1937 and renovation after a fire in 2004; many of the old features remain that make the hotel a pleasant place to stay, with modern features added. As one relaxes on the balcony overlooking the forested hills or inside in the wood-paneled bar, you can imagine the festive events of the past when well-dressed patrons wiled away the hours and dined in a fashionable way.

The food selection could have been better; ditto the bar selections. Upkeep seemed to be below what it should be (e.g. stained table cloths).

The weather for me was awesome and it was so quiet and peaceful had the best good night sleep and the bed was comfortable as for the breakfast it was great my wife also enjoyed it a lot the chef was very friendly

The lady at the dining hall did not read our booking slip when I checked in the day before I paid for the room plus breakfast for me and my wife after we had our breakfast she came to us and told us we did not pay for breakfast we shouldn't be eating it was actually embarrassing I did not like that kind of treatment it was as if we are thieves I had to go to reception so that the lady can confirm only to find that it was written on the booking slip I have never been so angry that was an embarrassment to both me and my wife she did nit even bother to apologize for her mistake the friendly lady at reception is the one who apologized

The first day welcome by receptionist excellent, The staff at restaurant and bar werecso welcoming and served with pride and smile.

I was not happy with the cleaners at rooms,it is put on notice that if we don't want to reuse towels we put on floor to be washed or put new ones but instead they would dry the ones we used on bath ,no towels were changed for us. The tea mugs and glass we wash ourselves, Is it not part of room service if they at bedroom.

We will never forget X-mas in July. Arriving at this beautiful location in July made it a very special experience. Fireplaces to provide a nice warm atmosphere and having the X-mas tree ready at the entrance made sure we will not forget about X-mas in July. Rooms were dated, but spacious and clean and the dinner in the restaurant was really tasteful. Before leaving the next day enjoying the service from the friendly staff one more time during our breakfast.

The staff were amiable and willing to help when complications came up. The views were breathtaking and genuinely serene. There was a lot of peace, perfect for a restful break. We didn't eat at the restaurant this time, but previously, the restaurant always had incredible food.

I felt the room's cleanliness could be a little better, but it wasn't bad at all. I also felt that the overall infrastructure needs an update, but I did see the effort in this manner, so hopefully, all the refurbishes needed will be done soon.

The view of the mountain, easy location and breakfast

Place is unkept. Everything is old. Carpets workout and rugs dirty. Heater not heating in the room. Buffet was sold the whole day, no starters and dessert R220. Nothing from the menu, forced to have beef bueger. Hai the standard has dropped drastically. No network for TV. Shame do something to that beautiful location hotel

The location is strategic as it is not too far from Haenertsburg and Tzaneen, both places where you can get good food and do your shopping. Our stay was made perfect by the friendly staff: Zanya, Christina, Nomvula, Mondi, Sean, Joel, Xqobile, Linah, Marlis and Johanna. We enjoyed the Phoenix & Fireman bar the most for its rustic, country style setting. The dinner sets were delectable. We particularly love the peace and quiet that the place offers. Our room overlooked the swimming pool and the beautiful green valley beyond. While having breakfast one morning, we saw some samango monkeys playing in the trees! We salute to the staff for their quick action when there was no water (government related) on the first evening we arrived. The 2-hour wait for the problem to be solved did not feel long as we were having a good time at the bar. For the rest of our stay, there was no more water shortage. The same we must say about their attention to the electricity supply (government related - again). Although there were spurts of power outage, it quickly came back within a minute. The trail to the waterfall is lovely but it's not for folks with bad knees as it is a steep decline. The collection of cascades is beautiful and the birdlife extremely rich towards the evenings. There is really not much to complain about this place. We will likely return for another great experience! The staff is amazing and the primary reason for our imminent return.
