The hotel is located a short walk, about 15 mins from Markina-Xemein. If you are on foot using Google maps, ignore the direction to walk up the road and take the trail up along the river. Much safer and a lovely walk where you might spot deer if you are lucky. The hotel is located in a restored industrial building, full of character and quirky charm. The staff made us feel very welcome on arrival. Our room was on the first floor and was very comfortable. The shower was one of the best we have found anywhere. We had dinner in the hotel and choices ranged from their own range of pizzas to a more traditional menu. We had a set menu for two which included a salad to start with entrecote for the main course. We shared brownie for desert which was just as well as it was large and very rich. Breakfast next morning was generous with a range of pastries, toast, meats, fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice. Coffee was good as well. All in all, a real treat.

Staff were lovely, especially on front desk to receive us and bid us farewell. Food was a very welcome addition after a very hard day's Camino hike. Evening meal was good value and the breakfast was plentiful with a decent coffee and selection of fruit, pastries, cheese etc.

Nothing, except a small sign for the hotel in town would be great as it's out of town on an easy to find( when you know it's there) route that is pedestrian friendly and cuts out the dangerous road, only found out about it when we left the hotel as Google maps takes you on the main road.

My friend and I happened upon this place because there wasn’t anything available in Markina. By the next morning we couldn’t believe we only spent $200 overall to stay in such a historic place and have a fantastic dinner with lots of wine. It started raining right after we arrived from the camino, so it was like finding refuge in a medieval mead house.

The only negative is that, as others have mentioned, the rooms only have 1 wall/door between them and the dining hall below. But we just planned to go to bed after 11, used ear plugs and white noise, so we slept fine.

It is a nicely situated rural hotel which is not convenient to the town of Markina but in a tranquil location about 1.5 km outside accessed by a pretty park following a river. It has a captive market of pilgrims travelling the Camino del Norte as there is a shortage of accommodation which is not Refugio or albergue in the region. We have stayed before and enjoyed it. The owner is very welcoming and into locally sourced produce and sustainability. The food is also very good with mainly homemade cuisine.

I only have one main issue which is - the toilet and shower facilities in the bedrooms. The rooms are small and I accept it is hard to juggle privacy with the space allotted. A sliding door to seclude the shower and toilet areas might be an idea. I know for some people being in the same space whilst using the toilet and shower is not an issue but for me - an oldie - it is.

We were walking the camino and had been stopping in alberques and cheaper accommodation. We wanted a night with a little more comfort, so we booked Antsotegi, and what a result that was! Great rooms and delicious food in a fantastic environment, but what really made it was the staff!!! Passionate and knowledgeable about their basque region, they introduced us to local wines and foods, made just a stones throw away. We only stayed one night, but rest assured we will be back again for a longer stay very soon.

It was very unusual. Was a renovated old building with character. Staff were lovely and very friendly. Social atmosphere with other guests. Well priced drinks, dinner and breakfast. They let us have breakfast earlier than everyone so we could leave for our Camino early. Good shower and comfortable spacious room.

Was 2km further to walk at the end of a very long day of walking. Otherwise nothing. The place itself was delightful.

Beautifully restored old foundry with hardwood everywhere.Tastefully and interestingly decorated with good art and quality comfortable furnishings.Excellent breakfast included in price.Evening menu very good.Friendly ,efficient staff.Lovely ,calm atmosphere.I had a large balcony with wicker sofa, chair and table(room 204 I think.)Set among trees,a river and fields.

Dogs barking for long periods. Chain saw operating in farm yard in late afternoon when I was trying to drink. They we’re cutting firewood so probably does not happen all year round but it was very loud.

Beautiful building in a peaceful country setting. Lovely, friendly, helpful hosts. The shower with jets (amazing!) was much appreciated after a long day of Camino walking. It took me about 25 minutes to walk there from the Camino.

If you are walking the Camino, it can be hard to walk that little bit more at the end of the day, but the hospitality and the shower are worth it!

The restaurant was amazing and had the best tomato salad and pizza. We were walking the Camino and saw walked from town and back which was beautiful, if you you through the park. Google maps takes you on the road which is a small shoulder, go through the park path which was awesome to run around. Staff were super friendly and cool story to the place.

It is really special - a medieval feel to it as it used to be used as a blacksmith building. it is a favourite with mountaineers. it has a restaurant with a nice menu and offers breakfast. bathroom with separate toilet and shower. The hall where you eat is lovely. And lovely friendly staff!! we hiked the camino and stayed there - if you do too, follow the red path and you do not need to walk along the highway.

Our room was a bit dark / not a lot of daylight.
