We loved staying in an authentic monastery and being able to experience the peace and tranquility if offered. We drove there from the north over the mountains which was quite beautiful. You can walk from the hospederia into the monastery which is still being used. Accommodation is quite spartan but comfortable. Good value.
The bar was not open so we had to eat in the restaurant with the usual Spanish hours. i.e dinner after 9 pm. The food was traditional and we are vegetarian. Tricky! There are local eateries very near in the square but it was raining heavily so we stayed put.

The property is amazing! it is like staying in a castle. It is beautiful!! very unique. In fact it was a castle . It is a monastery and a gorgeous basilica, and a hotel. Absolutely a unique experience! I highly recommend it. There is no place like this one!!
The Monastery and basilica is so unique so exceptional there is not a thing not to like . The staff is absolutely fantastic, friendly, professional, outstanding! Every staff member is friendly, helpful beyond belief. Tersa, Jesus, Raul, Mari Jose, all professional, friendly, helpful beyond the call of duty.

The reception staff, both on arrival and departure, were extremely friendly, courteous and efficient. The location is superb and the building is very interesting both visually and historically and possesses most modern comforts for a one night stay. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and offered good value for money. Conveniently located car parking.
To describe the breakfast as mediocre would be an unworthy compliment. Poor quality and selection (absence) of items - the scrambled eggs, when they arrived, were simply inedible. Coffee was awful (from machine), but orange juice was surprisingly good. The morning we were there it felt as if the breakfast attendant had either: just lost €50 but then found €20, or, maybe just didn't like Mondays? Either way she offered no smiling greeting to any of the guests and undertook a great deal of noisy laying of lunch tables around those trying to enjoy a quiet breakfast - cutlery dropped on floor, clattering of crockery and hurried wheeling of laden trolleys! Not a relaxing atmosphere at all!

It’s historical significance and location. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful.
The car parking was good but difficult to find. We parked in the town square first and a local person helped us with directions. To reach the car park we had to drive up a steep very narrow road with cars parked on the side which looked like it was one way only but was not. Only being able to hire a large vehicle it took some driving sklll to reach the car park without incident. We would recommend that better signage be placed at key points to assist people.

Our overnight stay was duly an experience. Our room was right off the gothic cloisters and of a height, I had never experienced before. The location is attached to the monastery and it was possible to park for free right outside the entrance. Guadalupe is worth a visit even if you are not Catholic and the surrounding woods and mountains are breathtaking. We had breakfast at the hotel and it was sort of extensive by Spanish standards, as scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages (very nice, need to be tried) for the English visitors and a feeble selection of cheese and ham for the German visitors were on offer in a buffet style. A coffee machine supplied any type of coffee you wanted. The beds were very comfortable.
Perhaps less choice at breakfast and a higher quality? A typical Spanish breakfast with tostadas and a bit of jamon , cheese and tomatoes would have done for us (my husband is English, I am Austrian). No need to bend over backwards for us, we are happy with local food.

The ambiance is wonderfull. To sleep in such a decorated convent is beautifull. You can sit in 2 beautifull patios. The breakfast is good. A lot of choice and we had dinner. It was good to with very nice service. The rooms are quiet and big also through the high ceiling
The room is big with high ceiling. But even with the airco it was hot. We missed a hairdryer and a watercooker for tea. For the price you expect a little more of this little extra's

The whole stay was excellent, the staff were both efficient and friendly. Parking for our 4 motorcycles was just outside the main entrance. The building is amazing and Guadalupe is very pleasant and interesting town with lots of places to eat and drink. The breakfast good with ample choice. It was the most expensive hotel on our trip but was worth every penny.

It was a delight and privilege to stay at this unique historic hospedería. We loved the setting, the location, the wonderful courtyards, the spacious room, the meals …. By the way, the breakfast offering was very good. It may be that some people didn’t see all four breakfast stations offering both cold and cooked choices.

This place is amazing, such a beautiful building, with so much character, you could really feel that it was part of the monastery. Our room was large and comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant, the food was very good, also had breakfast too. We parked the car next to the hotel, which worked well.
Everything was great

Location was excellent....but the road to it was closed because of a wedding! We had to ride our large fully loaded motorbike up a totally unsuitable cobbled street, if the bike had gone over there would have been no way we could have ever lifted it! Loved the room.
See above! Restaurant was closed because of the wedding!
