Fran! the manager was amazing! patient, helpful and cheerful, he is a huge attribute to the hotel and excellent in customer service. The room he gave me was beautiful, peaceful, large and I slept very well. I had room service, the food was quite good. The property itself is lovely and heritage; I am sure the history is very interesting. I was not expecting that quality to the price ratio. The value was amazing.

When entering the town of Mengibar, I would never in one hundred years think this hotel existed inside. It is not a beautiful town. Location is the only thing I didn't like. If I am being fussy, I also did not like the bread provided with the meal, it was not well matched with the food.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful building. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The restaurant served excellent food at very reasonable prices. It had on-site parking for free outside, and paid parking under cover. Nearby you can do a tour of an Olive Oil factory which was interesting.

There was a nice terrace which would have been ideal for a relaxing drink when we arrived, but there was no bar service until late evening (c. 8.30pm). The town doesn't have much on offer - the hotel is the nicest part! But it was perfect for a stopover to break up a long journey.

This particular property is a hidden gem. Period. The property impresses and doesn’t disappoint. It’s beautiful and the restaurant is fantastic, too. The olive oil (for sale in the lobby) makes an already perfect stay even better on the morning toast. We have been back twice and fully intend to return again. On one occasion, our room was two floors with room for two friends to have their own space while the other time was simply regal—both were perfect for the occasion.

The palace itself is beautiful as are the rooms. The staff was very helpful. Breakfast was a great value for 9 Euros.

The hotel is really a destination. There is little around the area to visit. The Spa is rather minimal for the cost. You have to call ahead if you want the sauna’s turned on and that was very unclear when we checked in.

Everything. The place is more than just a hotel, it's an experience. Great for relaxation. The looks outside, the looks inside, the comfort, big modern bathroom, cleaniness.. they kept the medieval style but merged it with modern comfort. On top of that dinner and breakfast in that amazing dining room, cosy balcony looking out the yard, the views of sunset from the hotel, and two rooftop terraces with both sunrise and sunset views, where we could hang out after the checkout. And then, the spa, with water beds, a lot of bubbles in different directions, and a Finnish sauna. They also offer massages. The prices for all those extras were fair. The small town was pleasant, the hotel being the focus point. A lot of streets that are going steeply up and down.

The worst thing actually was that we didn't arrive at the earliest possible check in time and therefore missed an opportunity to stay there longer :D I was also late to book a massage and it was not available on short notice. The Finnish sauna was too cold when we got in: 60 degrees. With a lot of water we were able to make it 70 degrees which felt okay. I guess that may be a personal preference.

Built in an old Palace the accomodation was quirky and intriguing. Our room (number 3 ) had it’s own private courtyard and although the room was a little stark it was comfortable and the bathroom was lovely with a separate shower. Tiny fridge which was useful.

It could do with having a kettle in the room but we bring our own just in case.

Building was fabulous, very historic. Staff were brilliant - very helpful. Food was excellent. The location was a bit difficult to get to - down some very narrow streets. The car SAT nav couldn't find it. Found it on iphone app.

nothing that the hotel could change eg. getting there was difficult. Some parking available - not a lot.

The exceptional thing about this hotel above all else were the staff, and that is saying a lot as the hotel itself was magnificent with an amazing history.

The Jaen region although interesting at first, I would not say was the greatest of Spains touristic or historic regions , there are better.

We liked everything! Our room was absolutely stunning with an amazing private balcony. The bathroom was also stunning with everything you would ever need. The staff was very helpful. We had dinner there which was one of your best meals of the trip and so reasonable. It was by far the nicest place we stayed on our whole trip and the best value for sure.

Not much to do in town. We did take a nice day trip to a Natural Park nearby.

breakfast a no go for us as all sweet items-not our cup of tea so that was a shame complimentary water in room would have been nice
