Great welcome on arrival. Good off-street parking. stunning views of the bay.

We were there on a 'shoulder season' date. It rained heavily, so the guests all decided to dine in rather than hoick over to the far side of the bay and start looking for restaurants. Facilities were quickly overwhelmed as only two floor staff were on service in the bar and restaurant. We got fed but it took a while. It can't have been the first time it rained there and I would like to think they could have been more flexible in their floor staff rostering. The combination balcony door/window had a broken tilt/open mechanism, probably due to salt corrosion. The window shutters only lowered partially, probably due to salt corrosion.

Breakfast very good - if a little pricey, but very extensive

We had a terrible lunch in the Beach bar. Really should have sent it back but stupidely didn't....Nachos with guacamole entailed tinned guacamole (revolting and why when there are beautifully fresh ones in the shops?). Tinned chemical bright yellow cheese (again..why??) and all for around 12 euros. Then some fancy smoked salmon dish stuffed into a pineapple: very small amount of fish in mayo made to look fancy by the pineapple: NINETEEN EUROS: completely ripoff. Shame as it put us off using the hotel for any other meal...until our final breakfast, which was very good

A very characterful hotel with fabulous location right on the beach promenade. We had a 4th floor room with balcony and sea view – absolutely wonderful to watch the ocean, surfers, fishermen, canoeists and boats and to hear the waves at night time. Plenty of parking but we opted to pay the extra for the private parking in the basement – an added bonus. A full and varied buffet breakfast and we also ate in the restaurant both nights – tasty fish dishes and great sunsets. Unfortunately too cold to use the swimming pool but it looked lovely. All staff very friendly, courteous and helpful despite some translation issues. Would recommend to friends and family.

Great location right by the ocean.;property has parking which is a plus. Staff cordial. Room was clean and so was the bathroom. Food at the restaurant was very good and so was the service.

The room was very outdated, worn old furniture. The bathroom was clean but needs updating too. The photos I saw online don’t even resemble the room we stayed in… No kettle, coffee or tea in the room, for a four star hotel that is expected. Also the walls are paper thin so you hear everything in the other rooms it was difficult to fall asleep. One thing that is hood to know: not all the rooms have ocean view. We got a view of the mountain and the port. Not bad but want others to know.

Terrace cafeteria. It has a nice view, good wine and food. Breakfast was very good. We didn't notice that the day we had booked was the Descent of Sella River. We realised that we were very lucky to get a room to stay in Ribadesella on that day of all others. The party area was in the centre of the town and we didn't bothered by the noise in the hotel. We had a good sleep.

We failed the dinner on the day of the festival. It was the busiest timing and the heavy shower made the situation worse. It was not the fault of the hotel, though.

the position is perfect, also good parking and helpful staff. the rooms in the old house are lovely, huge high ceilings and some nice period features.

Terrible transfer of noise through the ceiling from the room above. I was repeatedly woken by someone walking about: it sounded like they were wearing lead boots. As it was late, I asked the hotel for the room number and told the occupants that they needed to go to bed so we could sleep. The breakfast was ok, but no yoghurt, the bread rolls and croissants were more supermarket than bakery and the coffee (Nescafé branded machines; 1 of which appeared to use coffee beans) was the worst of our 3 weeks in Spain. Not a 4-star experience.

Stunning location right by the beach/river, amazing views from the balcony, clean & smart rooms, helpful reception staff (lent us a parasol and a fan upon request, arranged a taxi), great swimming pool area and bar/café terrace, superb breakfast spread in smart dining room, manager extremely courteous and professional.

Shower thermostat may need attention (slight fluctuations in temp), evening restaurant offering expensive for what we got (best to dine out), poor ventilation in rooms - stuffy in the unusually hot weather we experienced, unusual pillows (one long and thin, one large and square!) gave me some uncomfortable nights and a stiff neck. All easily rectifiable, none deal-breakers - still an excellent stay.

Ribadesella, and this Gran Hotel, are both great finds of our entire northern Spain road trip. We had to make some adjustment to our itinerary, and were lucky to book the last room available, possibly due to a cancellation. We stayed in the older building of the hotel complex. Our room faced the seafront. What a view through the window! Outside there is a good sized swimming pool with seawater from the nearby sea. Can't be more eco than that. On the second evening we tried out its bar and its restaurant, and had the best seafood meal of our entire trip. The seabass was at least twice of the thickness of the normal offering in the UK. All staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful. The hotel manager went around each dinner table talking to staying guests which was a nice touch. We don't normally repeat our stay in any part of the world. but we'd happily revisit this hotel and Ribadesella, and will make sure to book it well in advance.

We couldn't use wi-fi in our room, and had some noise issue with neighboring guests, which was quickly resolved by speaking to them directly - was just a couple young boys celebrating the weekend over music and local sidre (cider). We were informed by the manager that they were aware of the issues and were actively seeking for further improvement.

The hotel was well signposted so easy to find and had plenty of parking. Check was quick and easy and our room ready and waiting exactly as booked with a sea view overlooking the beach. Everything in the room worked and we had a fridge with cold water. Easy access to the pool, beach and promenade. Breakfast was excellent with a large range of warm and cold choices. We had a parking space in the grounds of the hotel so felt that was secure enough for our motorcycle rather than paying extra for the secure underground parking.

There were no coffee or tea making facilities in the room and the only option was to buy drinks in the cafeteria, that said the barman was quite generous with the alcohol measures when we moved onto shorts.

Great location with lovely views either across the water to the town or out to the main beach. Great breakfast and nice airy common areas. Large room, nice large balcony and good bathroom.

It was very hot while we stayed there and there was no aircon in the bedrooms.
