Charming hotel. Comfortable room. Good location.

There was no place to get a cup of coffee in the morning. The restaurant was serving a breakfast buffet and sent us down the road to find coffee. (Possibly because this was Sunday?)

Loved the museum like vibe of the hotel. There was antique furniture and paintings all arranged throughout the common areas. The location was also perfect for exploring Santillana del Mar and the surrounding area. The staff was also very nice and helpful.

Some of the rooms are slightly older looking but everything was still very clean.

The hotel was extremely clean and tidy and the furnishings were excellent, so many lovely items to see. Our room was a good size with very nice bed linen. The bathroom was clean and fresh and the shower was a great size. The hotel was in a central location, easy to find and close to the centre.

There was no lift which wasn’t a huge concern as not many storeys but difficult for those with mobility issues. That said, the receptionist was extremely helpful and offered to take our cases upstairs for us.

We love that this beautifully appointed little hotel, perfectly situated, has remained affordable. Thank you so much for that. It's a great alternative to an albergue while on the Camino

I wish that there were breakfast options besides the full buffet for those of us who eat very light breakfasts, so don't want to spend 9e on coffee and a croissant. The buffet looked quite great, but it would go to waste on me.

Very elegant and very clean. Comfortable beds, night lamps at each bed. Short walk to all Santillana Del Mar attractions. Restaurant and cafeteria on site.

TV remote controller was missing. Cafeteria was closed in the morning despite the displayed info it serves breakfast 7-10am.

this is a really interesting hotel in a convenient location for walking the Camino del Norte.

The only issue was that our room was on the corner of a busy junction and although there isn’t a huge amount of traffic, it seemed very noisy until well into the early hours of the morning. There is double glazing but as it was warm we needed the windows open as there is no AC and it did affect our sleep.

We stay in the hotel Santiallana for 3 days on our road trip through the North of Spain. It is not bad as a basis of day trips - the highways are close and the Altarmira cave museum is a few minutes drive (or 30min walk), although the village Santillana del Mar has become quite a touristic village (you have by far more souvenir shops village than any other types of shops, it has basically turned into a living museum). The Santillana hotel is in a very nice old historic building, the rooms are nicely decorated, with good beds and modern comfort but also containing the one or other old vintage furniture. We liked it very much. Staff is super friendly. Positive surprise was that the hotel - contrary to what was written in booking.com - actually had free parking (something to appreciate in this tourist-town where there is no free street parking) - there are a handful of parking spots at the street in front of the hotel and a garage with about 10 places at the back.

The breakfast was a bit of a disappointment - at least at the time when we stayed there in May 2022- as the offer was very limited and basic e.g. no eggs and breakfast was provided in a dark indoor room. But I also have to add that there were not many guests in the hotel when we stayed there, so it might be better when the hotel has more guests.

Charming and warm, old-fashioned country hotel. The hallways and rooms were beautifully decorated. The hotel is right in the town centre, which is very convenient. The staff was very friendly and helpful and even lets me check-in two hours before official check-in time.

Our room was bright and fresh (2 windows), bed was comfortable. The deep bathtub was a treat! Our room had a second small bed in it .. lovely for additional lounging!

I would have liked breakfast to be included in the price.

Pleasant hotel close to the centre of this attractive old town and handy for visiting the Altimira caves and the many lovely beaches nearby. Charming and helpful staff.

It was very hot when we stayed in July and a fan in the room would have been most welcome. The windows open directly to the road and it was too noisy to leave them open all night. The breakfast choice was a bit limited (although I loved the tortilla) especially the choice of fresh fruit.
