Special thank you to Dario at the front desk and Ana from the kitchen for their very professional attitude, helpfulness and friendliness! It makes such a difference when you're so far from home to have a friendly welcoming face where you are staying!
There was a particularly rude older woman working at the reception desk when I arrived, who made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome from my first messages. I would like to suggest she finds a job that helps her to enjoy life a little more...or at least learn something from her colleagues Dario and Ana about the importance of professionalism and attitude in tourism.

Lovely room in a beautiful building, good staff, comfy bed , a mountain of freebies/toiletries - brush comb, toothbrush , razor all provided as well as usual stuff.
No kettle or any hot drink making equipment at all in the room - the staff did say I could go and get a jug of hot water from them at the front desk when we wanted it. It would make more economic / practical sense to provide a kettle that we ended up buying for EU 15.00 and not dishing out all the brush / combs/ razor / toothbrush /paste etc that really each customer isn't going to need as you bring your own. Perhaps have those at reception as a request item. I gave all my stash to a homeless person in Valladolid the next day No secured parking - just 'on street' public parking.

Gorgeously preserved historical building. Definitely a must stay if passing through Santo Domingo de la Calzada. We knew it was an old historic building but was surprised it was actually an old Franciscan monastery (our favourite Order as far as Orders go :) Wonderful for history buffs and comfort-seekers alike. Breakfast buffet plus ala carte (must have the cafe con leche, served classic style, very strong with delicious hot milk you can adjust proportion to your liking) was amazing in the delightful dining room, which was oddly cheery (in a good way) despite the rich surroundings of antiquity. Highly recommended!
There was nothing we didn't like per se but maybe a little more voluntary (and more accessible) information about the history of the building and rooms around the Parador building.

The property was very rustic and beautiful. the rooms were a nice size and very nicely done.
I was disappointed that the front desk lady would not help me call the transfer company when I was having trouble connecting to them. Also there is a retirement home connected to the property and someone kept moaning and yelling loudly throughout the afternoon into the evening. Somewhat uncomfortable. But the property was lovely. that’s just being very honest and real.

The hotel is well located within the city. It was easy to walk to the sights and the other Parardor. The building itself was beautifully restored and the breakfast was excellent.
There is no air conditioning in the rooms. We arrived on very warm day and the room was hot when we first went in. We were able to open the windows and there was a lovely breeze that cooled off the room. It might be something to consider if booking in the summer months. We were there for 3 days and it was never a problem - always a breeze. When we checked in the person at the front desk was cordial, but nothing more. Others that we interacted with were much friendlier. I should note that we unfortunately do not speak much Spanish ( which we should as we were traveling in Spain) and this may have caused this disconnect.

I love the paradors in Spain, and this one did not disappoint. Although not as amazing as the one in Santiago, our room was lovely and spacious, and the building was beautiful.
It looked like the hotel had downsized since Covid? The restaurant did not serve dinner, and the bar did not appear to be operational any more. Also, although breakfast was very good, it was not as extravagant as the breakfasts at some of the others I've been to. This is not really a criticism; the paradors in Spain set very high bars for beauty and value, and this one was great. The one in Santiago, however, is fantastic.

This is a lovely old building and the standards of upkeep and maintenance are very high. Bed very comfortable. Gorgeous building.
We didn’t sample the breakfast because it’s 18 euros per person when you can get a good breakfast for 4 euros just down the road. You may hear some strange sounds from the hospital next door but there’s no doubting that this is a beautiful building and is looked after very well.

Newly refurbished accommodation in a historic building 5 mins walk from centre of this historic little town - in effect additional bedrooms (and excellent breakfast)for existing parador in middle of town. Small but comfortable bedroom in a lovely building. Convenient parking at no extra charge.
No grumbles at all! We know the parador from previous visits, which is excellent and beautiful but right in historic centre of town not suited to arrival by car when busy. This additional bedroom accommodation is of similar quality, but no parking problems, pleasant walk to centre of town past choice of restaurants, and a welcome offer of a free drink at the main parador in front of the cathedral before you decide where to dine.

It’s an amazing and historic building in a beautiful town. The bed was very comfortable. It was clean and there was a bath to soak in.
All the services were in the other parador in the same town. Parking, bar, restaurant, breakfast. So there was no coffee available in our parador in the morning. In addition, we had to leave our bicycles in the other parador. The staff were efficient but chilly.

Fantastic location and good breakfast experience if a little on the pricey side. The accommodation is an old monastery and is tastefully restored to a very high standard.
As I understand it these are Parador hotels which are training hotels for the Spanish tourist industry. The staff training is a work in progress and the service levels (and prices )are reflected in this. On arrival at reception a member of staff casually waved at my bag and left me to retrieve it and carry it to my room. I can only compare this to a stay at a much humbler Albergue in the mountains a few days previously. On arrival and unprompted the young lady took my backpack up two flights of stairs and made sure I was comfortably settled for my stay. The best of Spanish hospitality is not always conditional on the luxury of the surroundings.
