In Arolla, this is the only place you can ski out ski in really. Old atmosphere is good to get the feeling of being out of the noisy, crowded urban life. Since my earlier visits some years ago, they did selective modernisation.

There is no real option other than having dinner at the hotel. Given that, and during the busy school holiday week when I happened to be there, the menu for dinner could have been made more flexible. I had to eat the same main dish three time in seven meals, for instance.

This was our fifth or sixth stay at the Kurhaus in the last few years. We always enjoy our stays but this time we were blown away by the new chef and menu! The dinner we had was probably the best meal I've had in Switzerland after living here for almost 3 years. The level of service throughout the hotel has also improved significantly.

The rooms are very basic and a bit cold this time of year, but the common spaces of the hotel are very cozy.

Location, location, location. Wonderful spot in the middle of the mountains in Arolla, with views on the Pigne & Mont Collon. Rooms are tiny and creaky, the shower is not really fit for tall (or large) people, but the surroundings and the authenticity of this place make up for all of this. It's just a magical place.

The breakfast was not at all as expected, we were a little bit late and there was almost nothing left. Too bad since the breakfast is included in the price.

This 1890’s hotel dates back (graciously and classy) to the start of Alpine tourism for the happy few of my great grandparents days. Some of the athmosphere and old relics are still there. The hotel, stylish restaurant and terrace-bar are still very much alive and kicking. The friendly hard working staff make it all happen. Location at the end of a valley in Unterwallis is a garantee for Unesco-worthy landscapes. Nice room, greatest of view, fine beds and shower. Good breakfast.

The 1890’s feeling sometimes made place for that of a youth hostel because hikers use this hotel as startingpoint or place for recuperation. My wife unfortunedly did not enjoy two courses of her meal on the first evening. Mine were fine. The other evenings we dined in the two other (nice) restaurants, nearby in Arollo. Room 109 was not very big, and probably not their best, although for views it was a very good room.

Hi we are all the way from New Zealand, I love this hotel so much. Very cosy. I love that they have a larger space where children can hangout . Breakfast is very good with many options. Reception staff are very kind and accommodating, the outside views are also outstanding! . I would love to come back to Switzerland and stay here again!

The location is the most outstanding feature of this hotel. Also of course it is full of history and a unique grand hotel with that charming old fashioned structure from the previous century. We have stayed here before and shall return again. It is worth mentioning that staff at the reception were extremely helpful.

The only disappointing part of this hotel is the restaurant. Very limited and poor in choice. The management need to seriously improve the dining aspect so that the whole experience is not marred by the disappointment of the restaurant and choice of such limited menu.

The staff were wonderful, every one of them. Pleasant, attentive and skilled. The food was excellent and very nicely presented. The location is exceptional, the hotel being situated in a vast clearing in a pine forest in the mountains, with spectacular views. Lots of walks along little paths among the trees. The room was comfortable and very clean. The hotel is quiet and the decor is interesting.

Breathtaking views, beautiful property, elegant hotel in the woods. The staff were exceptional, friendly, accommodating and absolute lovely human beings.

The only “flaw” was the fluctuating water temperature during the shower. Given the historical nature of the facility, that is perhaps part of the experience.

Staff are all friendly. Foods, in particular the cerf steak are extremely delicious using local materials. The views and surrounding wonderful. There was an old piano and I enjoyed playing it with other guests. In the evening, there was a small concert among the guests!

We loved the old world charm in the hotel itself. We usually always choose the historical hotels, when possible, and Kurhaus was an excellent option. Everything was very clean, beds and pillows were very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They picked us up from a long walk to a village down the valley. We felt like home, or like with old friends when interacting with the staff. We loved the food, really exceptional in the mountains! Our favourite item in the menu was an innovative starter, which reflected the glaciers and mountains around. Beef was great, vegetarian option in the menu was superb! Only we would have loved some local fish to be included in the menu. Breakfast was good, nothing special, exactly what you can expect in a hotel in the mountains. Arolla is one of the calmest and most beautiful places in the Swiss mountains. We will certainly be back!

We could hear the neighbours too well ;-) from their rooms. That was the only minus. We also stayed in rooms, which are not yet renovated. Personally, I was not bothered by it, but found it charming. But I am sure, some other people would like the rooms be more recently renovated.
