Was my 2nd stay: Big family room - great breakfast & friendly staff - nice location near the river - good dining facilities & lounge

Nobody at the reception for check in - would not have been any problem as information about the 'self-check in' via key pick-box and the code was sent timely. However, the description about the key-box location was not intuitive Regulator for the shower-control (on-off / hot-cold) was broken - showering was a bit challenging, but we managed :-)

Location was fine, room very clean and comfortable, staff in reception was kind and professional. Free parking is s big advantage.

Breakfast very poor, we arrived 7.30 (half hour after opening) only one half tomato back in the heat box, scrambled egg was cold and the bacon was burned. Staff don’t checked anything, busy talking internal and not very kind.

Welcoming, friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable, large, well appointed room with great shower. Location perfect for us, plenty of parking with public transport and two supermarkets nearby. Excellent breakfast with a really good choices on offer. We have stayed here several times and look forward to our next visit.

Balsthal is a peaceful and beautiful small town, perfect for spending a wonderful day. You can hike to the castle and enjoy a panoramic view of the town from the top. The Hotel Balsthal is situated just in the heart to the town. Helpful staff, cozy room, nice breakfast buffet.

Amazing people welcoming us, they were fully ready to host us with our bikes and all the mud we brought : water hose for cleaning, a proper area to store the bikes for the night, stacked newspapers to help us dry our shoes and clothes. The heating was accessible inside the room to help dry everything faster. Great experience, thank you!!

We stayed for one night and we very much enjoyed it! We were in the detached structure, just facing the parking lot (free and we could park two cars, even though we booked only one room), which was very handy for the suitcases and everything. The room was not big, but very cosy and, although it was on the ground floor, very quiet! Everything was clean and the bed was super comfortable! The shower was huge and the heating system worked very well. The breakfast was good as well: different choices both for sweet and savoury breakfast. I particularly enjoyed the orange juice! The staff very nice and dicreet. It's less than one hour from Zurich, but cost way less than the equivalent structures in the city - perfect!

Warm welcome on arrival, friendly helpful staff, very good and thoughtful communication. Lovely room, quiet and spacious, comfy bed and great shower. Breakfast buffet was most enjoyable with a wide choice of options and very well presented. Location was ideal for us, not far from the motorway with two supermarkets and several places to eat close by too. Hope to return later in the year. Thank you.

Lovely place and we were warmly welcomed along with our dog. We were travelling through the area and this place was well located in relation to the motorway.

Not speaking German, we have basic French and pretty good Italian, it would have been better if the menu had some translations of choices. We did muddle through with a lovely waitress who had “a little English”

Exceeded my expectations. The room was newly renovated, the bathroom was huge, with high end touches and great design. Spacious and confortable

The rooms leading to the street get a bit of traffic early in the weekday morning. Buy with the window closed it should be fine.

The room was very spacious and we highly appreciated this given that we were coming with our baby. The cot provided by the hotel was nice and comfortable. The car parking is accessible from different entries to the hotel which is convenient. The breakfast was great with lots of choices. The bed was big and comfortable. A couple of other extras: the windows of the room could be opened and there was bottled water complimentary.

The bathroom sink/tap was exceptionally complicated to use. We have never seen a design as complicated and not user-friendly ever before. The decoration of the hotel lacks any charm and personality, it's not a place where you feel you want to stay a couple of days.
