We loved the food, the safari and transport which they arranged for us were superb. All the staff is very friendly and helpful. The vegetarian options and breakfast is outstanding. The rooms are clean with hot water and working aircon which was very comfortable. The bathrooms and communal areas were extremely clean. Highly recommend for a stay in mikumi.

Not sure what happened / how it happened but whilst checking out we had an unpleasant experience when trying to tip the staff. It was however only one person who worked behind the bar who was nagging us for a tip (after saying we shouldn’t leave the tip in the tip box as that is only for gardening staff). I explained we left a tip in the box and gave a tip to reception requesting reception shares it amongst waitering staff. This caused a big fight between the receptionist and waiters and although we couldn’t understand the language the shouting and aggressive nature made that we just wanted to leave. Staff should-be trained in this respect to not fight in the public presence. Otherwise there was one day where we had bad water pressure but this subsided quickly.

At Tan-Swiss you get both: Proximity to the connection road and the peace and quiet on a large property for a rest. Pros: - great location as the entrance is next to the main road and close to the park. - large property with a short walking trail. - big pool plus kids pool. - Most staff understands English well. - Run by a friendly Swiss owner for 2 decades. - Good value for money. - Pizza tastes quite good. - Breakfast includes eggs, white bread, the local „donut“, fresh fruit, coffee, sausages, bacon, etc. - Sunbeds with cushions. - Wifi was working throughout the property. - Own in-house Safari operator (for flexibility). - Bungalows with fan and A/C. - Verandas in front of each room. - Sounds of nature. - 6km from national park. - TV in the bungalows (room not sure) - Complimentary water and soap. - Large seating area in the restaurant. - Spacious rooms and outside area. We only booked a night but decided to extend. You practically just need to arrange the transportation from Dar es-Salaam or Zanzibar to get here and then organize the rest in the hotel: Safari rides, tours, transportation, etc…

In general we are very happy to be here. It’s like an oasis in the bush but still connected to the outside world. Cons: - Don’t expect teak furniture (termites are hungry!) or fine interior design. You are here to experience safaris or a chill out day at the pool. - There are internet issues throughout the country so consider a place which has ok connection to book your onward moves. Tan-Swiss wifi was working quite well but of course you might have issues streaming in the middle of the day. - The ongoing water pressure problem: Still enough to have a normal shower. Not much to dislike and a perfect hub for an extended stay.

The staff were very welcoming. Upon check in, we were welcomed with some passion fruit juice that was delicious. The breakfast and dinner was quite good as well. The grounds and rooms were well kept. We really enjoyed the peaceful and quiet environment at the hotel.

The AC in our room had issues and it took a few failed tries to get it fixed. We were eventually moved to a different room for our last night there.

Everything was good, even before we arrived, they were very helpful in changing our dates. The room was lovely, with big patio doors opening on to a veranda and trees, the bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water. We went for a couple of days of swimming and relaxation, so the pool was very important and it exceeded expectations, being continuously cleaned and with towels provided each time. Finally, the breakfast was amazing! A big plate of fruit, cereals, eggs, toast, sausage etc and as much tea and coffee as you want. A final word about the staff, who all went out of their way to help us and were a great example of excellent customer service. We will definitely return!

Highly recommended. Very much enjoyed our stay. Room was clean, a good size and good AC. Staff very friendly and helpful. We arranged a safari for next day via reception and is was excellent. Food in the restaurant is very good with a good international choice. Breakfast also very good with a good choice of options. Really enjoyed the stay and would definitely stay again.

Booked two nights at Tan-Swiss for my daughter and me for a one day safari in Mikumi. We chose Tan-Swiss because they had a pool. The staff organized free pick up from our bus stop and gave us a very warm welcome. Tan-Swiss offered comfortable rooms, delicious food and a good breakfast, even though there were too few guests to have the regular breakfast buffet. The staff were very friendly and helpful, helped to watch my child while she swam and organized the return journey with a reliable bus company. They also helped us to organize a single day safari with an experienced guide. Tan-Swiss is an excellent choice for anyone traveling to mikumi.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike.

Breakfast and dinner is consistently good and the plus factor is the incredible friendliness and commitment of the dinning room , kitchen and in fact all staff . We bought some pineapples on the way to Mikumi and the staff not only prepared it when necessary , but kept it in the fridge for us . I have been staying at Tan Swiss for the last 10 years and every trip it is the same .....a passion for service . I find Tan Swiss like an oasis in the desert .

Very peaceful and tranquil place. Nice to come here to rest from the city noise or after the safari. Green and spacious territory, everything are clean and staff were very hospitable. The dinner was big and yummy.

There was neither tea nor coffee in the room. And the water in the shower was very slow.

Wonderfull pool -clean, very good quality with sails over your head, so we can spend time there in the shadow. Nice restaurant with the choice of South African wines. Nice staff, very good location - 15 minute drive to .Mikumi National Park.

Great base for safari. You can find Samkalina Tours and Safaris here. Check them out. On the first evening of our arrival restaurant staff looked tired and unhappy. Food was ok. There are mosquito nets over the beds and beds are comfortable. In room 7 there was no hot water and the TV remote control was broken. In room 8 there was hot water in the shower. Water in the pool was too cold. Over all this is a good place for few nights and safari.
