I felt like I had stepped back in time and entered an authentic Thai guest house.. it was such a refreshing change from the cookie cutter generic places where I had been staying, and I thoroughly enjoyed the off- the-beaten-path location as it allowed me to explore parts of Bangkok that I hadn't seen before. It may appear isolated at first, but it is serviced by a convenient bus line, and an interesting water taxi route that links up to the Metro if you want to get creative. The staff was very congenial and seem to genuinely care about your well-being, as I was greeted every evening with two water bottles by the staff after a long day out and about. The decor is low-key, but authentic and genuine. I felt as though I was stepping back into Old Bangkok as there were a few other guest houses within the block, and a large market a block away.

The stairs leading to the second floor were pitched fairly steep, and the only toilet facilities are on the ground floor, so if you're prone to getting up in the middle of the night I would definitely recommend getting a room on the ground floor.

Tavee Guesthouse is a small but exceptionally beautiful place. My room was perfect, featuring a large, incredibly comfortable bed that made for restful nights. The staff is absolutely fantastic – unbelievably friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. I truly felt at home and very well taken care of. The location is perfect: everything is within walking distance, allowing you to explore Bangkok at a relaxed pace. An ideal base to experience the city!

The only downside is the noise level – like everywhere in Bangkok, it can be a bit lively at times. But that’s just part of the experience and unavoidable.

Tavee Guesthouse is located in a quiet spot, yet very close to a local food court, wet market and river jetty. It's very easily accessible and within 15 minutes ride to major attractions. Early morning breakfast with the orchids was exceptional. Tavee is very clean, all guests have to remove shoes before entering the premises, the rooms are adequate for a quick stop for rest. Wooden floors and walls give an exotic touch to the guesthouse. The shower and washroom facilities are downstairs and clean, with hot water. Laundry and storage facilities are available. The guesthouse has a closed gate policy to ensure safety of residents. I used to return late and there was always a gentleman to verify that I am a resident and opened the doors for me. Recommended for solo traveller's and couples. The staff were very helpful, respectful and decent. Enjoyed my stay there.

The stairs to go up are steep and if you have suitcases, it might be an issue to take it up if it's heavy. However there are rooms downstairs as well if you plan to be having heavy stuff to carry.

We did have breakfast on one of the days and it definitely reached our expectation. My partner had a breakfast which was cooked exactly how she liked it and I had a fruit and yogurt bowl where the fruit was delicious. The staff there were also very welcoming and lovely to be around, always trying their best to make your stay better.

This was our first place to stay at the beginning of our travels and I would say that I have no complaints. I would say that it was quite far from the central part of Bangkok but I would say that’s down to me not doing my own research beforehand.

I really liked that the guest house is tucked away from the main road. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms were impeccably clean. During my stay, I used two different rooms. I particularly loved the larger room as it provided enough space for me to do some Yoga stretching in the morning and evening. However, it took me a little while to get used to the surrounding A/C noises (a very common issue anywhere in Thailand), but earplugs helped with that. The smaller room was quieter, albeit a bit tight with the bed taking up about 85% of the space. I made use of the outdoor spaces to sit, work, eat dinner and relax, and the staff were very attentive, turning on fans and lights as needed. Overall, I absolutely loved it, would highly recommend it, and would definitely stay there again.

The guesthouse was great! I really enjoyed my stay. However, a lot of road construction in the town starts a block away from the guesthouse. It's far enough that you can't hear the noise, but it makes exploring the area on foot a bit difficult. Hopefully, that will be all done very soon, which would increase the value and charm of staying in this quaint, friendly Tavee Guesthouse.

We were able to order a nice continental breakfast before leaving early morning. We were very happy with our room which was spacious and nice and quiet at the back of the property the first time we stayed at the hostel. We enjoyed staying at this hostel so much that after we returned from travelling to the ilands we choose to book our final night in Bangkok here. Staff were very polite and friendly. I loved the tranquil garden and location that the hostel was set in. From here we were able to walk to a golden buddha temple nearby the hostel which was lovely. This area is not touristy like in the centre of Bangkok, but nice and chilled out location which has a different vibe to the centre.

There is nothing that I can think of that I did not like. Just be aware to find the hostel you need to go down a quite side street which we could not identify easily with our taxi driver. Look for a lovely old tree next to another hostel and then you need to walk a short distance to the hostel. This in inself was a pretty street to walk along and get an idea of how Thai houses were in the past :)

It felt like a home away from home. Very traditional, quiet and very clean. To get to this guesthouse you have to walk down a side street which is decorated by plants which is a nice transition from the busy streets. You don’t mind sharing the bathroom because it was always kept tidy. We had the room with the AC and it was definitely worth it. They also do breakfast at an extra cost, it was literally made for you from scratch there and then. Very tasty and affordable. You can eat it in their lovely garden/patio which is small but cozy and decorated with lots of plants and ornaments. We also had our laundry done, which we requested around 9am and had it returned to us in the afternoon ironed and folded neatly. Overall we were really taken care of by the lovely staff and would definitely come stay again if in Bangkok.

Really clean room and showers. Room was spacious enough. Old still guesthouse but new interior. Very fresh. Fine WiFi. Good choice of breakfast. But unfortunately no lactose free milk options, like Lactasoy. Owners excellent, only the man doesn't really speak English the rest, perfect. Take the boat at the Thewet ferry pier. Good food around but you have to know the places. Bubble tea at Moma's. 7eleven around the corner. 20 minutes to Khao San walking

No soap in the shower. Room was hot, no outside window. So no breeze from outside. We stayed here and the neighbour Sawadee. Both excellent. But Sawatdee wins, because of the minuet differences. But enjoyed both spots. But the heat was at Tavee intense.

Fantastic local location. The location really tells you about what local life in Bangkok is like and is in this fantastic little local neighbourhood. Unbelievably friendly staff - they gave me a free bottle of water every day. Great atmosphere, facilities, etc.

There seems to be no locks on the inside of the doors but no one was going to barge in when you’re sleeping anyway so that doesn’t matter. You can lock the room when you’re outside of it

25 years ago my mother stayed at this exact guesthouse. It was such a full circle moment being able to stay there, with the same family that’s run it since she visited. We enjoyed that we got drinking water daily, we switched from a fan room to an aircon room which I recommend. We also moved from once when there was a noisy guest above us, and the team at the guesthouse were so accommodating and lovely about this. There is a laundry onsite which was really nice to have as we needed to do some laundry and the cost was affordable. Laundry in Bangkok can be really expensive which we didn’t know, and the laundry service here was amazing.

The property was nice but a few things I would suggest: - Shelf or closet space in the rooms, there was no space for us to put our clothes and since we did a long stay it was difficult to live out of our bags, especially as a couple in one room. - The Wi-Fi sometimes worked sometimes didn’t, but we managed.
