Mai is the BEST host!!! She sorted out our slow bait river crossing via text (in one day!) and had coffee waiting for us before we left in the morning! Thank you so much Mai!!! Amazing resort over looking the Mekong. Easy tuk tuk ride from bus drop off in town. walkable to huge grocery store and 7-11. Restaurant onsite serves good food in beautiful indoor/outdoor dining area. wish we were able to stay longer.

nothing!! it is awesome! one of the best places we have stayed in in Asia!

Our stay at the Baan Sakuna Hotel was wonderful! The property itself is simply gorgeous; approximately 8 acres of lush grounds with flowers everywhere! Very much reminded us of a property in the U.S. state of Hawaii. The property is farily new and the proprietor, Mia, personally designed the buildings, interiors, and grounds. The attention to detail she included in the property is very noticeable as the hotel was a labor of love for her. He son, Lak, assists Mia with management of the hotel. My wife and I also enjoyed a delicious dinner in the hotel restaurant. Mia and Lak are in the ideal business as they are proud of their property and are the consummate proprietors; charming, warm, attentive to detail, and wanting to ensure my wife and I were comfortable. We loved our stay at the Baan Sakuna and cannot wait to come back and stay longer!!

This is our favourite place we’ve stayed in the last 6 weeks of travelling. After an exhausting 2 days travelling on the boat, we finally arrived here and it was everything we needed. Felt so welcome, the owners are so lovely, so friendly and so helpful. Our tea was amazing and meant we could just relax after arriving. The rooms are huge and so so clean. Fridge, water, coffee, kettle etc in room. Beds are huge and comfy too. Bathroom is perfect. The scenery is just amazing and the balcony was amazing too! Can’t even describe how much we loved this place. Such amazing value for money. Never wanted to leave, could stay for a week!

Nothing - can’t fault the place or the owners in anyway.

Ours was just a short 1-night stay before taking the slow boat on the Mekong, but we really wished we could stay longer. The hotel is in a beautiful location, quiet but just a short tuk-tuk ride from the town centre, and from the rooms you can admire the amazing views over the surrounding countryside. The rooms are big, stylishly decorated and spotlessly clean, with all the amenities you might need. We also had dinner and breakfast there, and in both cases it was freshly prepared, tasty and plentiful. The staff is very friendly and helpful, an all-round 5* experience.

EVERYTHING!!!!! Akkhaporn and his family made this THE BEST STAY we’ve had in our whole Thai/Laos trip! 🥰❤️😍 I wished we could’ve stayed longer!! Akkhaporn is a STAR and has a very very bright future and I just wish all the best to this lovely lovely family ❤️ FOOD: Had dinner and breakfast here, both made by the aunt - THE BEST curry we’ve had!! Had it in our room and have the freshest fruit (from their farm!) and cutest tea/coffee trays. Restaurant cafe always had chill music on while you’re admiring the views 👍 ROOM: Can’t get enough of it. The view is jawdropping and the area is so serene. Has a balcony that overlooks onto the town and river and mountains. It’s the biggest room we’ve ever stayed in. Western standards. Everything so tastefully decorated, curated and thought of. Felt like royalty! SURROUNDING: Soooo peaceful. Would’ve wanted to go around their farm and check out the bike path down to the river and into town. The whole hotel is wide and spacious. Very relaxing. Soooo much to offer as Akkhaporn trained as a tour guide too. 👍👍

That we had to check out!!!!

Really friendly staff. Beautiful room with amazing balcony and view overlooking the countryside. We didn't really use the balcony however due to the swarms of bugs and mosquitoes. A short walk to the Lotus shopping centre but you would need transport to get to the centre of Chiang Khong. We only stayed one night before catching the slow boat to Luang Prabang. The evening meal was really delicious and cheap.

I would not recommend staying here if you are nervous of dogs, as my daughter is. There are lots of dogs in the hotel grounds and surrounding area.

The hotel is in a great location; it is away from the town centre and so free of traffic noise. The views from our room were great, looking out over the lawns and the fiends towards the Maekong and Laos beyond. Our room was by far the best we have had in Thailand on this trip, being both spacious, beautifully designed and comfortable. The owner is kind, helpful and knowledgable. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere in the restaurant. It is a motorcyle friendly hotel too. There is safe parking off the road and good advice on trips to take. The Maekong and town are a short walk away 20 - 30 minutes, if you don’t want to drive. Bicycles are available for hire I believe. Strongly recommended. A real highlight of our trip this year.

Wow!! We needed to book a hotel close to the border as we would be arriving late on the slow boat. We didn’t expect such a little bit of paradise! From the welcome from Nak on our arrival to the time we left, our stay was faultless. The hotel is new and family-run by 3 generations. Our room was huge and spotless with a beautiful balcony where we could see Laos in the distance. We enjoyed a home cooked meal and local beers on our first night, and breakfast of eggs toast fruit and jam the next morning (excellent coffee too!) the grounds were lovely to walk around and are well tended by the grandmother of the family. The hotel is decorated beautifully too with lots of interesting artefacts and artwork to look at. Had we known what a beautiful place this was we would have stayed another night. Nak gave us plenty of tips on where to visit on our next stop Chiang Rai and ordered a tuk tuk for us to take us to the bus station. He could not have been more helpful. We highly recommend this hotel to stay if you need accommodation in Chiang Khong, it was perfect! Thank you 🙏

The setting is amazingly beautiful. Although you are not on the riverbanks it is very easy and enjoyable to walk there and all the way to town along the Mekong. Rooms are stunning. Big spacious beautiful with great view. Very nice staff and great restaurant again with superb scenery

In the evening coming back from town was a bit difficult for lack of taxis, but in the end one did show up.

It'a not often when you arrive at a hotel and feel good vibes right away. Tucked away in a seemingly rural neighborhood (spotted a family of guinea fowls pecking away outside our deck), this family run hotel felt comfortable and friendly. Dinner and breakfast is in an open air dining room/bar where a few house cats roam around hoping for a morsel. We wished we could have stayed in our large suite which was super clean for more than a night but we were there to catch our cruise the next morning which many stay in this town for.
