Amaka is a family B&B. The staff here are very friendly. The location is near the Mae Ping River in the ancient city of Chiang Mai, about 2-10 minutes' walk from the ancient city. I came to Chiang Mai for vacation with my wife. This is my third time traveling to Chiang Mai. The room I ordered was a ground floor one with a terrace. The terrace was available for my private use to smoke and drink. You need to take anti-mosquito measures when smoking and drinking outdoors because there are a lot of mosquitoes in Chiang Mai. The hotel's breakfast is customized and needs to be confirmed and reserved one day in advance. The hotel's breakfast chef is of a very high standard. My wife also loved the layout of the room and the breakfast at the hotel. I will continue to stay here if I go back and forth to Chiang Mai in the future. However, the only drawback is that the room does not provide a full-length mirror. I hope that the hotel operator can provide such a facility in the future. This facility is more important for women. In addition, the hotel staff do not speak Chinese. If you are a Chinese tourist, you can use translation software to communicate from Chinese to Thai.

In the early morning, there is a sewer smell on the outdoor terrace, but the smell does not enter the room. There won't be this smell at night. Don't know what causes it. It is recommended to wear a floor-standing mirror!

This place is so cute and cozy! I stayed in probably the fanciest room as a solo traveler but I know I could have stayed in the cute dorm and been so happy! The room I had would be absolutely perfect for a couple or even two friends traveling together or a solo traveller like me if you want to treat yourself! Beautiful huge room with a ‘living space’, big bathroom, comfortable bed, big window with a window seat and a gorgeous view of the mountains. Great location just north of the old city, walking distance to North Gate Jazz Club and a great street food area as well as basically everything in the old city - Chiang mai is very walkable. Breakfast was great and served in their cute cafe. Couldn’t recommend more! I will be coming back here with my future partner :)

I have been travelling since the start of July 2022 and can safely say Amaka Bed and Breakfast was by far the best hostel I’ve been to. very friendly and helpful staff, excellent location, the beds are very comfy and have good privacy with the draw curtains, Wi-Fi is good, lovely communal area with comfy sofas and smart tv, also have fridge and microwave! the check in/check out process was very clear and smooth. they also did my laundry for me for a very reasonable price and was ready for the following morning, beautifully cleaned and ironed. could not recommend this place highly enough and I will definitely be staying here again when I come back to Chiang Mai.

It was a nice space with lots of room for a solo or couple traveling and is just outside the northern border of the old city. A good economical choice if you want to be near the old center.

There was loud construction noise next to my room and since I was working remotely it was not suitable for me, however the staff was very kind and allowed me to cancel my booking to find a quieter space, the noise was not their fault. I appreciated the good customer service. The noise was only during the day so if you are a tourist exploring it wouldn’t affect you. If you are disabled physically note that you need to take the stairs to access any rooms and there are no elevators

The room was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed from basic amenities to coffee and some snacks. It was exactly as it was shown in the pictures and the room decor offered us homely vibes which we absolutely loved. To our delight, filtered water was provided for free and we could fill our water bottles whenever we needed. Breakfast was included and we really appreciated that even on the day we had to leave early, they packed us some good sandwiches and drinks despite the cafe still being closed. All the staffs there were very helpful and hospitable and we could understand that they do their best in meeting each guest’s needs.

Everything is perfect. The staffs are all friendly and helpful, also the breakfast is delicious.

Our room is in the first floor which in Amaka2, there’s a litter bit noisy in the early morning.

Excellent location just outside of Old Town surrounded by fantastic local eateries and coffee shops. The staff are extremely friendly - our host Pitta was brilliant and provided a book of great recommendations and also provided us with a packed lunch for our day trip as we had to leave before breakfast. The food was great and had a great choice, the coffee was excellent and you get two free bottles of water a day which helps with the heat! The room had no outside noise and air con worked perfectly, I would highly recommend and would stay again at Amaka!

We really enjoyed the stay, very clean and good breakfast! We arrived a little late and so they gave us all the necessary instructions for check-in, which we found very convenient and attentive! They gave great recommendations on where to eat and what to visit in Chiang Mai. Also, we needed to rent a motorcycle and they provided the service immediately, bringing the motorcycle to the entrance of the accommodation, and they were even available to store our suitcase during our motorcycle trip. Great choice!

Where do I start!... I absolutely loved staying at Amaka’s! I stayed in the Junior Suite and immediately felt like home. The room is super spacious, beautifully decorated, spotless, it smells good and has a powerful (and essential!) AC. The room is by itself on the highest floor, so it had all the privacy and quietness I needed. The bed was super comfy, and I appreciated having different thickness of pillows (4 of them, from the fluff one to the flatter one!). The kitchenette has a fridge refilled with water everyday, a sink, some dishes, and a microwave if you decide to eat at home, but you are only a 5-min. walk to the night market where you can pick a variety of delicious Thai dishes. The bathroom was so big and clean, towels fresh, and I loved the eco-friendly shampoo/conditioner/shower gel that smelled amazing. I had to work and wifi was fast and stable during my whole stay. Also, it’s possible to have your laundry done for a small fee, or you can do it yourself a few doors down the street (coin machines available). There is a book in the room in which you can find recommendations on local food, activities, itineraries, etc. This book was put together by the lovely owner and you can tell there is a lot of thought in it. I tried many of the restaurants/food stalls recommended and was delighted with all of them! This is just one more detail that express all the care that surrounds this place. But to me, the best memory I’ll keep is about the staff. Thank you, Pitta and Som, chatting with you was always a pleasure! I learned from you and your beautiful Chiang Mai, Thai culture, and of course, food. You are the sweetests! All in all, best place I have stayed at in a very long time. Initially booked for 5 nights, stayed for 17!

Nothing AT ALL!

The staff and service is undeniably the best part of Amaka. The rooms were so cosy, and comfortable. The bed, bathroom etc, everything was just perfect! The location is great too, walking distance to quite a few restaurants and a short drive out to the plaza if you need to go. They served us breakfast in our room and we really appreciated that as we had to pack and leave soon after. Breakfast was soooo good too, you get to choose a breakfast set the night before, however you can also order extra dishes if you'd like (We ordered an extra Nutella banana toast and paid 100 Baht for it)! Pro Tip: Don't skip the Rich cocoa! It was a gem of a place, and definitely value for money!

We were personally okay, but I wouldn't recommend the place for older guests, as there is no elevator and carrying luggage up and down or going up and down after a day of exploring could be difficult for some! Do bear that in mind when booking.
