The staff were incredibly kind and helpful from start to finish. When we arrived they gave us a full background of what to do in the city and what food to eat. They also assisted very promptly in forms for our visa extension.

The pool is in the shade but we knew this in advance - just something to be aware of.

Spotless clean and quiet guesthouse in the center of the old city. Even though, it's just a stone's throw away from Thapae Gate, it's very quiet (I'm a light sleeper but didn't need ear plugs at all). Rooms are spacious and friendly, daily housekeeping. Reception staff is always friendly and helpful. Lots of restaurants, massage places and bars close by. I didn't use the pool, but i can imagine it's nice to cool off on a hot day.

Nothing really. The only thing was that they have a free water refill station downstairs but I've got bottled water every day in my room. Not really necessary as it could be refilled downstairs instead to save plastic.

I loved it here, honestly it was just a cool spot and I explored enough of the area to know I had been lucky in booking it. The outside area was just phenomenal and full of atmosphere during both the day and night because of the colours, plants, trees and lighting. It had everything I needed and it was very authentic Thai in style and I appreciated that and found it to be one of my favourite places I've stayed in for decor. Staff were very helpful, food, drinks and coffee were great, there is a small but well maintained outdoor swimming pool, good information board for local area, good WiFi, location was almost perfect for the weekend night markets as you could dip in and out from the main street, return to room and drop off items bought and then head out again within a couple of minutes. This may have been my favourite stay in Thailand as it was better than I expected but I felt like I was in a good area of Chiang Mai for my first time to explore. I also rented a bicycle a few doors up for super cheap and was able to explore the old city in early mornings with low traffic and it was just awesome rising around the moat and walls.

I loved everything about this place. The location is perfect. We were able to find plenty of restaurants, massage businesses, shops, markets, etc within a short walk. We rented bikes for $1.50/day to travel farther. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool was refreshing and sparkling clean. The rooftop terrace is spacious with lots of fans and seating areas and a beautiful view of the mountains and city view. The room was comfortable with a private balcony and clean bathroom. I would definitely stay here again.

Nothing- everything was wonderful.

The staff at Asana House were friendly and accommodating. Our room was comfortable and clean, the pool was refreshing after long hot days sight seeing, and the restaurant was affordable and tasty - super convenient especially for breakfasts. The location is perfect - on a side street so calm and quiet but steps away from the center of the action in the old town. It's exactly where we wanted to be for our trip to Chiang Mai.

It's not the most plush or fancy place. It feels just a tad past its prime (could maybe use some updates). That was not a concern for us, it met all of our needs but depending on what you're looking for, this might not be the best place for you.

Excellent location. Walking distance from all the sights in old town and very close to a lot of good restaurants and cafes. Even though its close to some lively streets the actual street the hotel is on is very quiet so we had no trouble sleeping. Since it's on the edge of old town its very easy to get a taxi or grab ride to some of the more far away attractions. The staff was super nice and helpful. The hotel seems a bit older but it has been well taken care of and everything was in good shape. The room was nice and clean. The pool was really refreshing. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever had in a hotel anywhere, very firm mattress.

This place is always good and is my go-to in Chiang Mai. The staff is loving and friendly but super chill (for instance, yes go swimming at night but keep quiet and don't disturb other residents, or they even helped me by forwarding me a package that arrived after I left, such nice people). Also for so many variety of diets the food around here is stellar, KhunKae Juice bar, Hummus, Vegan Meals, etc. are can't misses. They will also help you with tourism although I didn't take advantage of that as I usually come here to rest- it is a very restful place! Also randomly if you're taking massage classes or want to practice massage or yoga the rooftop area is a stellar bonus and was why I initially was attracted here. Anyway, I could go on and on. Really, stay here and it'll ruin all other hotels in the Chiang Mai area in the best possible way.

The only thing I didn't like was leaving!

Nice and central the GH was tucked away just around the corner from Thapae gate. Good size room, good for a long stay.

No kettle they only had a water dispenser hot / cold on the ground floor, I had two flights of steps to go down. Not the best when you want a tea at 4am each morning, or to get a coffee I would walk to burger king at 4.30/5am, a short 1 minute walk. Last time I stayed there they were nice enough to give me a kettle in 2022. Wifi was not that fast.

I loved staying in Awana House as it is located in a quiet back alley in the old city, just 50m away from the Tha Phae Gate, meaning that you have all the restaurants, bars, and shops really close by without all the noise. Very friendly and helpful staff and a great pool to cool off in.

Great place and great staff. Cleanest I've found in Chiang Mai. Very pleasant and homey rooms. Clean, clear, cool pool. Loads of options for taking tours, and you can pay directly at the reception. The whole courtyard and the pool are shaded, so usable even during the day. The terrace on top of the building is also very nice and you can watch the sunset and sunrise from it. The only regret I have is that I didn't book more days here.
