Positioned in the beginning of the less touristic side of the island, the situation is extremely relaxed and intimate. we had a bungalow i front of the sea and it was beautiful. Both the sea and swimmingpool are clean and nice to have a swim there. Rooms are tidy, the staff super helpful with booking activities for you, calling a taxi, and suggesting places to see and to eat. Much reccommended if you want to relax!

nothing to improve, just remember that you are going in the less crowded area of the island (very close to the more touristic part, which is white sand beach, but still in a secluded area), therefore if you plan to move a lot around the island then you will need a bit more time and money for the logistics. Eg from the resort to bangbao pier (where are all snorkeling activities and taxi boats to koh mak / koh kood) it takes approx 50-60 min, 1000-1200 baht if you go by taxi. Anyway, it's worth to stay here, really beautiful

We have been traveling through Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia for almost two months, when we decided to end our trip in Koh Chang. First we went to the West Coast, where we had plenty of bars, restaurants and such, but for our last stay we wanted a quiet, beachfront bungalow, where we can enjoy our last days of holiday. We couldn't have chose better, since Sunrise is all this, and much more! Just 8 bungalows (4 on the beach), with a very romantic look and feel, a red sand beach with a deserted feeling, and one of the best swimming pools I have seen in the last years. The restaurant is tiny, with 14 options for lunch and dinner and 6 options for breakfast... But what options! We tried 12 out of the 14 dishes on the menu, all traditional thai, and we were simply mesmerized! All of them were amazing, with a perfect balance between deliciousness and size. If I would have to recommend something, even though it is very hard to choose, I would say the cashew tamarind dish, the stir fried garlic and pepper sauce and the sweet and sour one. But that is not all. First of all, this was the first place in two months that served proper coffee as we have it at home - in a french press. Second, and probably the reason for which our stay went from good to exceptional - the host, Penh. She is so kind, so helpful and so friendly, and she helped us with advice, renting a car, getting a massage and so on. Thank you so much Penh for having us! There are quite a few rocks in the sea. Not a big problem for us, since the swimming pool is exceptional, just know it is not a perfect smooth sand sea bottom, it's more like a wild beach, which of course has its charm.

Pen the host was very caring . I arrived sick and she went out of her way to make me feel comfortable . The room was lovely although my son’s bed was just a camp fold out which he wasn’t too pleased about . Free water provided which is a total necessary but over looked by a lot of places I stayed in Koh Chang . The location for me was perfect. Quiet and peaceful . In fact my favourite place on Koh Chang which is extremely busy and noisy on most of the other beaches . I’ve stayed all over Koh Chang and this is the best beach with the cleanest water . Come here to relax and recharge but not to party :) Enjoy nature and reconnect with yourself . Also two beautiful cats which was a bonus !

My son would say his bed …I loved mine tho :) Nothing to not like .

The owner/manager and staff were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble and very personal service. The peaceful ambience of the resort was perfect for a relaxing holiday. Lovely beach front (2 strides away) rooms with straw roofs and traditional architecture. Safe and private. When it's full there are only approx 20 people in the resort and a few people walking along the beach. The rooms were spotlessly clean as were the public areas. All amenities were provided in the rooms including unlimited bottled water. The beds are huge and very firm. The food is all home cooked with fresh local ingredients and you could request a type of food or dish if it wasn't on the menu. Vegetarian dishes always available and all the dishes could be adapted to the level of spiciness preferred. The portions are huge e.g. the Tom Yum soup had at least 12 big prawns in it! Pen (manager) is very proud of her food and often came around to ask if there was anything else people would like and she would source it for you and prepare it the way you liked. The price of the food and drink was excellent value for money e.g. bacon, eggs, toast and jam, fruit, juice and coffee for £5. The most expensive main course was £5 on the menu for the evenings! The location is great for exploring the island but it is good to have some form of transport. We loved being away from the touristy west coast but still within easy reach of it. Very few children staying which suited us and it gave us an adult environment. Massages were available for £10 per hour and they were excellent. Free use of kayaks and Hrissto (the owner) would lend you his fishing rods and provide bait to fish from the kayaks. The beach is lovely to swim from (very calm and shallow) but water shoes are recommended because it is a little pebbly on the way in. Bird watching was fantastic just in the resort and the sounds early in the morning were amazing. Good wifi for each area/room, getting 21 mbps download and 37 upload.

Very hard to find anything we didn't like. In fact we loved it! The following were or are being resolved: The sunbeds need replacing but we know they are planning on doing this. The pillows weren't to our liking but Pen (the manager) gave us a choice, so this was resolved very quickly. No spirits and cocktails available but you can bring your own spirits and Pen will provide ice for you. They do have beer, wine and mixers/soft drinks. Also very good cocktails available at the resort next door for £2.50 each!

Absolutely amazing staff that made everything possible. Also the lovation is perfect, if you seek a quiet place. very calm and clean beach. Amazing beach view. The infinity pool with view to the ocean is stunning. At night the pool is lighted up with blue LEDs, which give the Pool an amazing athmosphere at night. We were traveling with 2 kids and they loved the place. Everything is very cozy. The restaurant is also amazing. Food is great and you sit and eat 2 meters away from the beach and water. Amazing to eat there at any time of the day. Rooms are nice and well equipped with everything needed. We will return 100%, it was a fantastic time we had there.

If there was something, I´d write it...

We loved the pretty beach very quiet and kept clean by the team. Peng the owner really looked after us and was very helpful and all of the staff were friendly. The pool is lovely and usually very quiet. Our bungalow was right on the beach which was lovely and the hammocks a great addition. We really relaxed and did pretty much nothing which was just what we wanted. The food was also great and we especially enjoyed the curries in particular the massaman. 🙏 The food at Aunties on the main road is really excellent too. We went there for lunch most days. We weren’t very impressed with the food at the two other resorts nearby. However it was nice to have a cocktail at the serenity next door.

There was very little we didn’t like about the property the only thing was the beds were hard. A nice thick mattress topper or some foam could solve this though.

The Sunrise Beach Resort is paradise! The resort is small and therefore very quiet, very well maintained and is located on a great beach with a very clean pool, far from the hustle and bustle of the west coast. Our bungalow was only 5 meters from the sea. I liked the amber sandy beach much more than the ones on the west side of Koh Chang. The ferry to the mainland is only 3min away. The resort is great and lovingly equipped - here they have really thought about every detail (e.g. make-up mirror with shelf and hairdryer) and also implemented former critique. The WiFi reception was very good everywhere. With the free kayaks we could watch the sunrise on the water. Special praise for the great food. Best coffee (in a French Press) on our entire Asia trip and I was able to order yoghurt with muesli and fresh fruits. Dinner is excellent. Taste-wise, all five dishes I ate totally won me over! But what really made the vacation perfect was Pen (the manager) and her team. Everyone was very attentive and went out of their way to make all requests (even the unexpected ones) come true. When my partner was sick, she lovingly took care of him and me. Panda and Tiger (two male cats) made me happy every day with purring, but were never intrusive. Renting a scooter, managing private excursions, opening coconuts, all this and much more was managed great by the Sunrise Beach Resort team. I also had the best Thai massage of my life! Pen, thank you for everything! I experienced Sunrise Beach Resort like a home away from home. Your humanity made our vacation perfect. I could not have dreamed of a more beautiful vacation and had to cry when we left.

Absolutely nothing!

This is paradise. Very welcoming and lovely staff made our stay so easy and relaxing. Our bungalow was spotless and cleaned every day. The breakfast served in the newly built restaurant on the beach is a delight and something to look forward to in the morning. The infinity pool is quite spacious and always clean, so is the beach. Everyone mentioned sandflies on Koh Chang, the beach is so well taken care of that there are absolutely none! Pen the manager is so helpful in organizing transfers, snorkeling or diving adventures, cars, motorcycles or anything else you might need to feel happy. We had a wonderful stay at Sunrise Beach resort and highly recommend this place. 💕

The setting was serene, it is a small resort, only 8 cottages, very nice and quiet and extremely clean. The beds were comfortable. The pool is lovely, and warm, beach front cottage was amazing, hubby loved his time in the hammock right beside the water. The food at the restaurant was exceptional. The owner was very accommodating and helpful, and the staff very friendly. We were able to rent a scooter from the hotel for the same price as in town. We would definitely return.

Not an issue for us this stay as we were fortunate that most guests there were not sun worshippers, but there are only 5 loungers at the pool and 1 on the beach. You should also count on renting a scooter for some of the time while you are there to get to the main part of the island for a visit, cabs are expensive 400 Baht one way.

The property was really good. K. Pen, the hostess was magnificent. She was great, and looked after us throughout the stay. The breakfast we had before travelling back was exceptional. I've travelled a lot and never have I had such pancakes. It was delicious. The villa was comfortable and the staff were very friendly, especially the chef.

The housekeeping could have done a little more in terms of room cleaning. But it was okay. The water in the pool was not very clean and probably could do with a better filtration system. Apart form that, I don't see any other thing that needed attention.
