Everything!! From start to finish our stay at The Mud was 5*. We loved the location; compared to the rest of the island we found the west coast was the perfect mix of chilled out and artistic. We loved the local towns and restaurants as well as the ease of getting to the pier to our next leg of our trip to Krabi. The staff were always smiling and very helpful! They really went out their way to make our honeymoon the best experience possible. The food both at breakfast and dinner was always delicious and served with a smile. Although I recommend trying a couple of the local restaurants to the right of the entrance for some cheaper meals. The cocktails around the pool were delicious and we were far from shocked at our bill on checkout after 8 nights of luxury. We’ve only been away from The Mud for 1 night and are already missing it. Can’t recommend enough!! Quick notes that we loved: Hammock: comfortable Pool bar: friendly & delicious Bed: large & very comfy Sunset: consistently incredible Location: 15/10!

Given the proximity to the beach and the openness of the bathrooms within the huts we did find the mosquitos a little peckish at night. Nets over the beds were provided but we also took the additional precaution of buying some burners for the evening from 7/11. They seemed to do the trick. The restaurant, although delicious, was a little overpriced to eat at every night compared to surrounding restaurants. However, as mentioned, it was delicious so I’d suggest a couple of meals during your stay.

Best Stay Ever! We stayed for 4 nights and honestly, we regretted not booking longer! The location is perfect, right by the sea, with stunning views. The cocktails and fresh fruit juices were spot on—thank you so much! If you’re looking to relax, take in the view, enjoy a massage, and sip delicious cocktails all day, this is definitely the place. The staff was absolutely AMAZING—special thanks to Beam and Serina at reception, as well as the incredible restaurant waiters and the young lady at the bar. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they always greeted us with warm smiles. You truly made our stay unforgettable! And Latte—we already miss her! Big hugs! 😊

Not staying longer ...

We stayed in the tree house with sea view. The property is well-kept and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was quite good. Nice view from our room. The live music a few times a week was nice. The pool are was very nice with a bar, loungers and palm trees.

The water in our room was quite salty, so it was definitely necessary to buy bottled water in large quantities for making coffee and brushing our teeth. The tree house is close to the main road so it was quite loud due to traffic. There isn't really anything nearby, so you have to take a taxi or drive to the cafes, restaurants and shops.

The property is very nice. The animals there were cute. The staff were extremely friendly and the whole garden was well maintained. The rooms besides the tree house were nice and spacious.

The tree house, which we originally booked is not a suitable accommodation and the description of the room did not match the reality. It is a room directly next to the restaurant, away from the beach. You hear the sound of the busy street, it is above the chicken cage and directly above a motorcycle workshop. The room is definitely not sound proof.

This place is beautiful! Even if the weather was not the best, this place was still magical. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable and beautiful. The restaurant as great food and a great view. The staff is very friendly. I love that they are trying to grow their own food on the premises. And that they are environmentally conscious. I wish they were talking more about that stuff. You hear eco this eco that everywhere in thailand. But that's the first place that truly look like they are trying. The café was my favorite place. Great staff, good coffee and a beautiful settings. I highly recommend!

I absolutely loved the place! The views over the sea, especially at sunset, were stunning. I enjoyed the peace and quiet, the adorable rustic little huts with super comfy beds, and the lovely terraces with hammocks. As someone who loves nature and enjoys feeling close to it, this place was perfect for me. However, it might not suit those looking for a super modern, luxury hotel experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making me feel truly 'at home.' I genuinely miss their smiles, which lit up the entire place! A special shout-out to Beam, Serena and Nat for being so wonderful! I also appreciated the little touches, like the positivity jar with uplifting messages at the reception, which always brightened my day. The Thai massages offered at The Mud, in a lovely tree-house in the heart of the resort, were exceptional and very reasonably priced. A huge thank you to my favorite masseuse, Duang Jai, who was absolutely amazing! The restaurant staff were incredibly lovely and accommodating as well. Special thanks to Shimoy, whose cheerful smile and helpful attitude made my experience even better! Nothing ever seemed too much for them, and they were always happy to adjust the dishes I ordered to suit my personal taste and specific dietary requirements.

There were a few hiccups along the way (as tends to happen at most places!), but the staff always addressed them promptly and found a solution. The location of the resort means you'll need a scooter or car to get to the nearest town and the most popular beaches on the island, which isn't ideal since taxis aren't exactly cheap.

Beautiful rooms, very clean and lovely pool area by the sea. We loved the Mud Hut style rooms, very different from some of the other hotels on the island. The restaurant had a good variety of food and drinks which were reasonably priced. Best of all were the staff - they were all amazing, always welcoming and very helpful and attentive.

Our shower wasn’t the warmest but it wasn’t a minor niggle. The main downside if I had to put one as we really loved it there, was the location on the busy ring road. Without any pavements we didn’t feel able to walk anywhere which we like to do.

This was one of the big highlights of our trip - the mud huts are gorgeous! This is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in and the fact that it's facing out onto the beach with a pool and bar area makes it 10/10. The views for the sunset were breathtaking, we sat there all evening watching it go down. The restaurant was lovely and they played live music during dinner, which was nice. There are so many areas in the hotel to explore, including the little zoo area where they have fish, chickens and ostriches! We would absolutely stay here again in the future, highly recommend!

We should have stayed longer!!

The staff is extremely nice, the location is fantastic, and the rooms are cute. Great for relaxation.

They have animals in really small enclosures, and for being an "eco" hotel, their food options are abysmal. There are no plant-based milks/yoghurts at breakfast, and if you are vegan/vegetarian you are stuck with plain rice, some veggies, and toast. Vegetarians can take eggs. They often have vegetables made in fish or oyster sauce. The restaurant will replace meat for tofu when ordering, but it is not tasty. They should really rethink how "eco" they are, or if this is just a marketing gimmick.

The Mud offers a snug location with a beachfront. The restaurant and café on premise offer great food and drinks. However, if you stay a couple of days, you may miss some variety in food options (particularly breakfast can become a bit dull). What we particularly liked was the hotel's vibe. With bungalows featuring patio chairs and a hammock, the place invites to lay down, read a book and enjoy your time at the sea. Staff is super friendly and helpful in all matters (booking tours, issues with your room, at the restaurant, etc.) We'd advise to book a bungalow. We first booked a treehouse room. These look great on photos BUT they have no sound proofing, are located above the chicken den and next to the busy ring road of Koh Samui. Thus, the treehouse rooms are very noisy. The bungalows, however, are spacious, nicely furnitured and quiet.

We only noticed upon arrival: because of the tide, the sea's only reaching the hotel's beachfront during the night. Thus, at day, you can look at the sea, walk along the beach and even wade through water but it's rather shallow and swimming may only be possible if you walk several hundred meters toward the sea. It turned out to not be a big issue for us BUT it can be. On top, the pool is nice and offers view of the ocean and Anthong Marine Park. However, it needs an update in terms of size and comfort especially considering the sea access. For example, the bench for sitting in the pool consist of bare concrete, which makes for a rough surface to sit on, lean into or touch.
