This is not a luxury accommodation with rain head showers and modern furnishings but has all that is needed for a very comfortable and atmospheric stay. Reading lamps, lighting switches near the bed, ample room for toiletry bags in the bathroom, shelf room for several pieces of luggage, seating for two in the room and on our little balcony facing the river and overlooking a wedge of garden. It has real art on the walls and custom made Thai-authentic furniture. Bed linens and bath towels were of good quality. Our windows had screens which kept us mosquito-free. There was also mosquito netting if needed, but it wasn’t needed. All the staff were personable, helpful, professional and the staff that dealt directly with guests spoke fluent English. Thank you to Nelle and Namtarn who were always available for us. All our written inquiries prior to our stay were promptly answered. The garden creates a feeling of community and we had many pleasant chats with other travellers. In our 7 nights there over two stays we had several very tasty, nicely presented meals. The location is excellent, directly on the promenade but quiet and secluded. We rented the bikes for several days and were very pleased with the quality and maintenance.

We would have liked if there was no smoking on the property as we found it offensive while eating. Also it would be nice if the community dogs could be trained not to howl at night!!

I was a bit sceptical before I reached this big wild garden with the many huts, little bungalows, minihouses, in a traditional style, reaching up to the river promenade. But then the positive shock: I was about to start my greatest stay in an asian guesthouse so far with my little suite providing me with a balcony/veranda just in front of the marvellous river promenade, giving me the chance of sitting on my private veranda with a coffee or an evening-drink, saying hello to Thais and Falangs passing by, and being part of a big mixed LGBT-friendly family of artists, freaks, studs, families, old couples, sportsguys, connaisseurs from all parts of the world living peacefully and openminded together around there, with a smooth dog and a friendly cat saying hello, with a good choice of thai and western lunch items in the nice garden restaurant, with a wonderfully and uniquely, traditionally designed room, good bathroom and shower, comfy beds, water, fridge, the Walking Street, supermarket and 7/11 as well as brilliant cheap foodstalls in 10 min walking distance in this nice, friendly, peaceful town, where you should definitely take some days rest, visiting at least the spectacular Statues Park 3 km away (by Tuktuk around 300 Bath both ways, it will wait for you, ask for it and plan around 90-120 minutes time) and - just relax happily at this well kept magic place, which in some moments felt a little bit too nice to be true. I will be back for sure.

No idea why some guys dont like the dogs barkin at nighttime. Hey: It is true life here and not a Disney fakeworld, so appreciate the fact that those dogs are mostly really happy and get good food instead of being eaten 😉🤣

I liked the location and also the grounds. The room was cosy, nicely furnished and the drainage pebbles acting like a soak away in the shower flooring was novel. Interesting and very pleasant.

There could have been more choice of TV channels. I think all the channels seen were shopping channels. I’m used to BBC World News, CNN and Aljazeera, in addition to local news channels, at every 3/4 star hotel I stay at internationally. I also think having a sachet for shower gel, shampoo and conditioner for instance would have been an appropriate provision.

Mut Mee is a magical little gem tucked away down a quiet soi in Nong Khai. Its location overlooking the Mekong and close to the walking street and river front promenade is absolutely perfect. The gardens are calm and peaceful, and there are many areas for sitting, relaxing (or even for working remotely if you are so inclined). The restaurant is fabulous — I had moo manaow that was delightfully spicy and delicious. Every member of the staff was friendly, kind, and helpful. The room was a cozy space with a little porch that was perfect for reading during a lazy afternoon. A truly lovely place to stay. I can’t wait to return!

Very beautiful setting for the garden. Excellent location! Relaxing to watch the river and look over to Laos... Very high quality food is offered. I found the baguettes rather tasty, and enjoyed the Kao Tom for breakfast.

I was in a single room for 5 nights. Bathroom shared was up a flight of stairs. Easy for others to look into my room. Dog in nearby house like to bark at anything, anytime of day or night. Apparently the building I was in is being totally gutted next month, and rebuilt. Maybe big change coming!

The property is a little gem in lovely gardens overlooking the Mekong. It has a community feel about it with rooms dispersed over various cottages down a leafy lane. Although the accommodation is simple the bed is very comfortable with an added fan to keep you cool. The covered outdoor restaurant is well appointed and has a lovely view of the river and promenade. All staff are incredibly welcoming and the food is great with lots of choice. I have stayed before and will always look forward to returning . It’s such a lovely place and is perfect for rest and relaxation.

The location is amazing: you can have your morning tea with a view of Laos on the opposite side of the Mekong river. It's 20 min by foot from the bus station and 10 min by taxi from the train station. Most of the staff speak English and are very friendly. There are three even friendlier pets at the property: a big fluffy dog and two cats. The guesthouse provides a towel and a hotel-sized bar of soap. No problems with hot water in the shower. Everything's super clean. There are mosquito nets above every bed for a peaceful sleep. There are also bicycles for rent - 100 baht per day.

The situation with the smoking is a bit confusing. When asked the staff lets you smoke in the restaurant area but there are also No Smoking signs there which causes misunderstandings between the guests. The second thing - we were told there are almost no buses operating in the province and the only way to get around is to hire a taxi for a day (2500 baht) or rent a bike. But a thorough google search helped us find much cheaper options - you can find quite a few local vans and buses at the bus station (e.g. 50 baht to Phon Phisai in an AC van).

The location of Mut Mee is unbeatable. It is right on the Mekong River promenade with no separation wall. You can walk directly from Mut Mee to the riverfront. Its a beautifully landscaped space, with plenty of greenery and sitting spaces in the shade. The architecture is also very rustic and adds to the laid back vibe of the place. They have a great menu list and an active kitchen which can cook up a hearty meal at short notice. The English speaking skill of the staff and management is very good, which is rare in this part of Thailand. They can also arrange motorbike rentals in you want to visit Sala Keow (7kms), explore the countryside along the Mekong River (recommended), or visit Phu Phrabat Historical Park (which I did), an underrated gem. The riverside promenade is worth exploring for its markets and eating places.

The shared washrooms could be more modernised. Also, the reception closes at 9 pm. In case anyone is coming at odd hours, that should be mentioned clearly.

Mut Mee is set in a stunning garden on the banks of the Mekong River. Its garden and restuarant are a fantastic place to relax, read a book and unwind. The owners are always there, keen on a chat, and happy to answer and questions or organise bikes, tuk tuks, activities etc. The boardwalk in front of the guestouse is beautifully placed for a morning or evening stroll. There are plenty of markets, restaurants and bars within walking diatance. By far one of the best places we've stayed in Thailand. We will return next time we're in he area.!

Cant think of anything we didnt like.
