Staff were so friendly and helpful, especially James who went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed, sorted the coffee in the bath incident, and someone who ran out to just to give back a phone charger we'd left in the room. Room was absolutely gorgeous, beautifully decorated and furnished, very spacious and full of nice touches. Very comfy bed with lovely bedding and pillows. Roll top bath was wonderful, even after I dropped a full cup of coffee in it! We were allowed a few extra hours the next day to check out and as it was a special occasion that made a world of difference to us and was very much appreciated. Lovely location with parking. Food looked fabulous, will definitely stay again and have a evening meal next time!

Breakfast was delicious and staff were lovely, would have been nice to have more coffee or tea offered and perhaps and toast and jam etc, and still wondering where the biscuits were in the bedroom :)

Lovely hotel & restaurant/pub! Really polite and helpful staff, very accommodating including arranging to have breakfast from the room if desired. Food was really nice and the seating areas are all great especially the gardens. We would probably stay in a slightly larger room next time (booked one of the snug doubles) but it had everything we needed and was very comfortable.

The bathroom in our room could do with a little attention, the fan didn’t work and it had clearly led to peeling paint on the ceiling which could do with tidying, would be nice to have had a working fan or an opening window in there to have better ventilation.

Everything! Our room was beautiful and we were treated to complimentary Prosecco and Beer in the mini bar on arrival. We dined at the hotel on the Friday evening and had a fabulous dinner. Breakfast was delicious. The local area is stunning and Corsham high street is lovely to explore with other pubs and restaurants on your doorstep if you want to try something different on a longer break away. We took trips to Lacock and Castle Combe locally - both well worth a visit. We ate a Mother and Wild the second night of our stay which happens to be next door and again the food was beautiful. The staff at The Methuen were so helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Overall, it was a perfect weekend and very relaxing - we would certainly like to return again.

Nothing!

I've used this hotel several times and it's always been good. Nicely stocked room fridge, with a couple of complimentary items. Large comfortable clean room with 4 poster bed! Friendly helpful staff. Restaurant is very good.

Breakfast was covered in black pepper. Why do kitchens do this? I like a little bit of pepper, but they put on way too much and it spoilt the breakfast. A pepper grinder was on the table so why did the kitchen have to do it? You can add pepper but you can't take it away. I also had problems paying. The hotels payment system does not have a chip and pin reader, so they effectively did a "card not present" transaction. This got declined by my bank, and I had no option to override it. I had to use a different card which messed up my expense accounting. I complained about this and got a very unhelpful answer, despite their system being a security risk.

Location was perfect for walking around town. Parking was free. We had a bright and spacious room and bathroom. The dining and bar area were welcoming and staff very helpful and attentive. The food was excellent. We were very well looked after. One detail I loved - Smooth Chill radio station playing when we entered our room. I immediately felt relaxed. Everyone in our group enjoyed their stay.

Just a few of the common areas eg stairs needed some tlc but not easy with so much coming and going of people both staying and dining - and with the weather being still quite wintry.

A splendid historic Cotswold stone inn imbued with history dating back to the 1400s. Delightful, large room with huge bed, excellent facilities - from good coffee and tea, fresh milk and a teeny, lovely welcome bottle of prosecco to Roberts radio playing soothing music on arrival. Interesting and eclectic furnishing, great lighting and atmosphere. While the hotel has a lively bar, functions room and restaurant downstairs, by bedtime things quietened down and we both slept very well. We used it as a base for two days walking the many heritage trails in the area. The weather was terrible so returning to the warmth of the Methen Arms in the late afternoon mande it very special!

The only thing missing was a toilet brush!

Our room was incredible- lovely 4 poster bed, beautiful roll top bath in the room itself (very romantic), amazing shower, the list continues… The food at dinner was exquisite- truly exceptional. amazing menu, beautifully cooked and well presented.

Very little to be honest! the place was so good that the little things that weren’t quite up to scratch stood out a little. The bed was quite uncomfortable with what felt like synthetic pillows and duvet. It would have made all the difference to have fluffy pillows and duvet with lovely sheets. The restaurant staff were also pretty inattentive. One of the waiters actually brought our wine to the table with corkscrew and cork still in the bottle and just left it there. We assumed he would come back to open it but didn’t so we did so ourselves, if there was a reason for this then fine, but he just left it- rather odd!

We chose this hotel because we were fed up with chain hotels with no character. This was an excellent choice. Lovely boutique hotel in a good location with plenty of free parking, nice ambiance and little extras in the room. The dinner and breakfast were really very good.

Minor things. Service was slow in the breakfast room. After waiting a while to have our order taken my husband sought out the waitress. He never did get his coffee. Charged twice - a couple of days later - for something from the mini bar but that was quickly rectified when I phoned.

We loved almost everything about this hotel. Our room was beautiful, the bed super comfortable. The shower was excellent and we loved the organic Bramley products. The complementary drinks and cookies were also a very nice touch. We really loved walking into our gorgeous, low lit room, to the sound of the Smooth Chill radio. The breakfast was very good, with vegan and gluten free options. A real bonus for us was the restaurant. Our dinner was superb. The staff were very helpful, finding us a table in a quieter corner of the room mid-meal, when an extremely noisy, large group of people were seated next to us. There were plenty of free parking places available.

We could not work it out why there were two ugly, dusty plastic plants in a stunning ancient fireplace in our room. Also, the plastic flower garland over the entrance arch seemed incongruous with the character of this beautiful property.

Our room was absolutely lovely. Lovely decor, comfortable, spacious, spotlessly clean and lots of little touches. Everything had been thought of. Nice to have live music in the courtyard on Sunday afternoon, which we weren’t expecting.

There was nothing that we didn’t like. However it was a shame that we were unable to eat our evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant which we were told was closed due to staff shortages so we had to eat in the bar instead. Not the end of the world and the food was very nice.
