We booked this Hotel last minute as we were looking for a dog friendly hotel for one night along the coast and we are so glad that there was availability, Llys Meddyg is a gem, the hotel is situated on the main road so easy to get too, they have a car park (albeit a bit small) but we were able to park without any hassle. We booked into their " Secret Garden" restaurant and what an unexpected treat. Photos don't do it justice and the quality of food is outstanding. The staff were very welcoming and all said hello to our dog. Would highly recommend.

This small hotel is in an excellent location - Newport is a lovely little town with nice little shops, pubs and galleries and close to a wonderful bay and beach and great walking. We were in the attic room - which was comfortable with a good size bathroom. The breakfast in the restaurant was excellent with good staff.
No real welcome on arrival or any information given. You need to watch your head in the bathroom! we banged ours several times - but we are tall!

An excellent place to stay which was stunning inside and out. Just a beautiful well presented place to stay that was reasonably priced and couldn't have been better. Easy access to everything we needed and the restaurant and bar on site whilst a little expensive were outstanding. Staff were all fantastic the communication was amazing and they were all so friendly, I can't recommend this place enough
Nothing on the room or hotel. Restaurant and bar are expensive but worth it as a one off treat.

Llys Meddyg is a 'restaurant with rooms' rather than a hotel and the food is absolutely superb. Breakfast wonderful and dinner exceptional. Unusual and delicious. The garden pods are lovely: warm and cosy and extremely dog friendly. The whole place is slightly quirky but the ethos is charming and welcoming. It's sort of hippy chic and we would go back tomorrow. The furnishings are rustic but incredibly comfortable and I just love the place. We had our dog with us and everything was easy but they are quite careful to keep dogs separate so if you don't like them it would be no problem.
We had the least expensive dog friendly room and it was a bit small. Luckily so is our dog so there was no problem and the bed was really comfortable and the shower was excellent. When we go again, though, we will book a larger dog friendly room as it was a bit cramped. I believe there are 3.

Room was large, lovely and warm. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was excellent. I can recommend the breakfast. There was a lot to choose from beyond the typical "fry up". I'll be back. PS I left my iPad mini, they found it and it was returned. Brilliant
Nothing really. Nice bar area to sit in outside. The eating booths in the outside restaurant were unusual to say the least but part of the charm and character of the place.

What really impressed me were the arrangements made for my wife and me when we arrived very late in the evening having travelled from Rosslare to Fishguard. We received a note letting us know the room number - the room was left open for us with the key inside which was a great relief. And... the food is great.
We've stayed in Llys Meddyg several times but thus was the first tiem we had been in room 2 which is over the front door and faces on to the road. The traffic was very noisy

Historic building (oldest parts date to the 1600s) - sensitively renovated to a very high standard. The restaurant fare is as good as you would find anywhere - excellent. Be sure to try their freshly smoked salmon that they produce on site - superb! It is close to scenic, well-maintained walking paths around the estuary and minutes to an ancient burial crypt (dating back to around 5000 years old) as well as the town which is a lovely place. welcome and assistance/advice from reception and restaurant staff were 5-star!
All good - no complaints.

The "Cellar Bar" is a real surprise, great decor, choice of drinks and cosy log-burner. Restaurant exceptional too! I booked this Hotel by mistake, incorrect data entered into Booking.com (my mistake), requiring accommodation for a Concert I'd booked for my wife at the I.C.C. in Newport. I'd booked the Friday & Saturday night, but on realising this venue was about 3 hours away, I rang to see if I could cancel the Saturday night, to be able to book something closer to the Concert. Without hesitation Jan was happy to do this, but we're so glad we made the effort to travel the extra distance to enjoy Friday night here (still waiting for Booking.com to refund me the Saturday night though :-( ).

This hotel really undersells itself. The listing made no mention of the exquisite secret garden with its fire pits; outside bar and eating pods or the wine tastings; on-site salmon smokery and e-bike tours. The decor is fabulous and our room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was great with lots of choice
The evening meal looked really appetising and was made with high quality ingredients but the flavours were so complex and didn’t always go together

Beautiful building and decor, and our room was comfortable and cosy with a lovely spacious bathroom. We loved the cosy cellar bar (which had great cocktails) and the on-site restaurant was excellent! There is an amazing kitchen garden with veg and herbs, would love to come back in the summer so we could sit outside! The food is all local and sustainably sourced (including the best smoked salmon I’ve ever eaten which is smoked on site!) and all the staff were knowledgeable and super friendly. Newport itself is a lovely town, which some great shops (especially the Newport Collective art gallery!) and there’s a very good market on Mondays. It’s right next to the coast so there’s a lot to see and do within a short drive, we did some lovely local coastal walks and swam in the sea!
