Breakfast (full English) was good, fair amount of food for the price and quick service. Good coffee too. Very comfy beds. Dinner in the pub's restaurant (fish and chips) was excellent - large portions too. Above all that, the landlords and all the staff were ace, couldn't have been more friendly, welcoming and helpful, and that really made it for me.

Well, 'didn't like' is a bit strong, but it is in need of little spruce up here and there, but having said that it is an old English country pub, so that's also part of its charm. It's beside a main road (which I knew before I booked), and that wasn't a problem for me, but some might possibly find it a little noisy at busy times. Also, if you're travelling back to Salisbury on a Sunday then make sure you pre-book a taxi as they're very rare on a Sunday morning - this isn't the Swan's fault of course, just a little tip for fellow travellers.

Not a very comfortable bed

We arrived the day before Guy Fawkes Day, but just in time for the fireworks, grilled hamburgers, and hot dogs. The owners set off the fireworks the day before the actual day due to rainy forecast. We bought food at the event, then mixed with the pub crew and mainly chatted up a retired train worker who entertained us with stories about meeting actor Martin Clunes on his train and obtaining his autograph for his wife in exchange for a candy bar. Thoroughly enjoyed this brief immersion in English pub life. The owner very carefully gave us fire emergency exit instructions which we found rather thoughtful and endearing.

No improvements necessary.

Our stay at the Swan was exceptional. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Our room was beautifully clean and we had a great, comfortable bed. We had a hearty dinner at the pub downstairs and enjoyed the included breakfast in the morning which was a full English breakfast. Great proximity to Stonehenge and other areas. We also appreciated the parking across the road. Would certainly come back again!

Nothing major but the noise from the road was loud early in the morning.

Cosy rural small guesthouse with restaurant and pub nearby Stonehenge. The restaurant was small and nice with a lot of choise and good food. Staff was friendly en helpful. Locals spend their evenings here in the pub. It was for us very British on a very nice way.

Directly next to road with fast passing cars. In the rooms they had dubbel windows what makes the noise acceptabel.

The owners were sooooo accommodating. We had a delay in our flight so arrived 90+ minutes after closing time. They waited up and were very gracious about everything. Room was comfortable and very nice at this price point. Be aware that the car park is across the street A36 from the hotel. somehow Booking.com’s address-into-Apple Maps gave us a location about 2 miles down the road. Strange and annoying. but if you look up The Swan at Stoford in either Google or Apple Maps, it finds it correctly. Breakfast was delicious. Would go again. Stonehenge was about 10 minutes drive in the morning. (Go early).

an old pub with good parking area opposite , very friendly staff especially the girl that looked after the restaurant for dinner and breakfast , both of which were good with plenty of choice . The bed was very comfortable ( even if a dip in the middle ) and even though room on side facing road , it was not noisy . Also had kettle with tea and coffee .

The corner shower open door space was small (I could only just get in with my female upper area ) The shower itself was great though with plenty of hot water but anyone larger than myself I think would struggle to get in .

It must be a beautiful location in the summer being next to the river and with private garden. For us, it was useful to park our car and catch the bus close by into Salisbury. An on site restaurant meant we did not have to go out for a meal. We arrived on Sunday and had not realized that evening meals were not available, but we were able to get a takeaway and eat this in the bar.

If I was being critical, the shower needed some attention. There were mouldings that neded a good clean and the plinth needed to be attached.

Great location just outside Salisbury on the road to Stonehenge and Avebury Neolithic Rings. Plenty of parking, good food and beer garden. 17th Century pub so nice and quirky. Chalk river to relax and watch the fish go by.

Just remember the pub is traditional so don’t expect a vanilla hotel. The room we had was large and spacious with a well proportioned on suit bathroom with a large bath. My wife had an issue with the shower temperature other wise all fine.

Very clean; helpful and friendly staff; nice old building with charm

A couple of slight misunderstandings which were dealt with promptly and pleasantly: we had booked a twin room but were shown a double. I was travelling with a friend so not possible or desirable to share a bed. We had to pay for the room on arrival even though I was sure I had already paid via Booking.com but I couldn't check at the time. On arrival at home, I confirmed this to the property and they refunded the extra payment quickly and with apologies. Can't fault the service just would have preferred for it not to have happened. I use Booking.com a lot and it is the first time it has occurred. I would definitely stay again
