Room was decent. Hot shower but no bath. Good selection of toiletries. Tea/coffee available; I'm not a fan of milk cartons and why no hot chocolate? TV was OK and bed comfortable but better pillows needed. Heavy curtains block out the light. Excellent breakfast. Nice breakfast and bar area. Location is excellent. A few small details would push the score up to at least a 9.

Confusion over charging at the bar. One member of staff said it was OK to put it on the tab, another on a different day said drink should be paid for immediately but relented when I explained what her colleague had said a couple of days earlier. I can't bear variations in customer service. Also quality of breakfast varied in who was on restaurant duty e.g. coffee refills and temperature of food Day 1 and day 3 were fine; day 2 slightly less so and I may be picky but it is not a cheap hotel, more mid range.. Its the little things that matter so more consistency is needed. However, the quantity and quality of the breakfast was high and the coffee was good. £12.50 per breakfast is £2.50 more than it should be.

The hotel was spotless. It was only a short walk from the town centre. There was parking on site. The cooked breakfasts were delicious.

There wasn't anything we didn't like. It was perfect for our two night stay. When I booked, I had said that it was for work. There was a small desk and a chair, which was very useful, but the chair wasn't with the desk and there was no space to put it with the desk. My husband had to sit on the edge of the bed for hours at a time. He did it and didn't complain, but it wasn't ideal. That was the only negative. If we were visiting Taunton again, we'd chhose The Taunton House Hotel again.

The room was so warm and toasty. Getting back to the hotel room every evening was like having an all-night sauna, with the delicate hum of passing traffic easing me into slumber. Each morning I bounced out of bed refreshed and ready to tackle the day. The east-European woman at the front desk was very friendly and well presented.

The hand soap didn’t taste very nice - I had to stop eating it after the second evening.

We booked a superior double and for very little extra money the room was nicely large with comfy bed and armchairs and plenty of space. Bedside lighting a little dim for reading but otherwise lovely. Curtains made it so dark it was difficult to find the bathroom at night! Very helpful staff. Parking was full when we arrived but they alerted us the minute a space became available and held it until we moved our car. Very convenient for Taunton centre.

Nothing the hotel can amend, but its next to a church so the bells toll from around 9am on Sunday morning. Perhaps some coasters for water glass by bed?

Charming, clean, comfortable. Really off the tourist circuit, great to see so many people enjoying hiking and walking from the inn. I loved that it was halfway off “the grid.” The food was excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Room was very small for the price. Our toilet didn’t flush. The property managers did a good job of enforcing quiet hours, but our room was just next the stairs and there was a lot of closing doors and people speaking loudly.

The building, the beds, the facilities, and the staff were all excellent. Lovely reception Staff and great value for money breakfast, which was so tasty and plentiful. The staff were amazing at breakfast, nothing was too much trouble and so warm and inviting.

I didn't like the noise from the pipes when running the water or the same noise when other guests ran their water through the night due to being woken up several times

Chose this hotel as it was near the town centre with parking, which meant we could walk around and explore the town and Vivary Park. We had a room at the back of the hotel, it was very quiet. Room was spacious and clean. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast catered for lovers of cereal and cooked.

No USB point in the room to charge phones. No oat milk.

It's a great place to stay - I was there for 2 nights on business. Room was clean and spacious, the staff lovely, and the breakfast very nice - freshly cooked and prompt. This is exactly what you want when you are on a work day! would stay there again 100%

Car park is slightly difficult to park in, I was by the gate and it felt very exposed to other careless drivers.

The room is very comfortable ( a little on the hot side and a fan would be a bonus ). The place was very clean. The lady on reception very friendly and welcoming. We did not have breakfast. Nice to have free parking as well. Location is excellent for our requirements.

I worry a little about security during the day as it is very easy to enter the building and if no one at the desk anyone could just walk in. In a busy city centre there could perhaps be a lock or bell as people enter.
