The hotel was start to finish was simply perfect. From booking in to checking out, everything was great. The room was well laid out, clean, with beautiful décor and very dog friendly. The room was spacious and really ticked all our boxes. The food was fabulous. Breakfasts and evening meals were perfect in every way. Your tastebuds woke up with all the different tastes and flavours, the food was well presented and really cooked to perfection in every way. Staff were warm, attentive and very professional with impeccable courtesy and politeness. I think my only criticism would be that the hotel missed a lounge area, were you can relax and chill with a drink before eating. The hotel would really benefit from such area and would really add value to the overall experiences. The surrounding area is perfect for dog walking and the canal is so quiet and relaxing. Whatever you do these days, it can be pricy, but I thought the prices to stay and eat where really reasonable and not out of the way. You get what you pay for without a doubt! It’s certainly worth a stay and to eat here. So would we go again? Yes, without a doubt as its so comfortable to stay here and the food is so divine and so dog friendly!

I think my only criticism would be that the hotel missed a lounge area, were you can relax and chill with a drink before eating. The hotel would really benefit from such area and would really add value to the overall experiences.

The room was comfy and clean, and I loved the decor. It was easy to find the hotel and there was plenty of parking on-site. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, which was excellent - the food was delicious, varied menu, good veggie and vegan options, and good service. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also very good - cooked fresh to order, plenty of toast and coffee alongside. Overall, a really lovely stay. The location of the hotel, next to a Tudor National Trust hall and close to a wetlands nature reserve, gave us plenty to visit nearby.

The room was very well appointed. Exceptionally clean. Amazing towels, decent sized coffee mugs that you can actually hold! Good supply of tea, coffee, biscuits. Comfy bed. Clean and functional bathroom. Nice staff.

The breakfast. I mistakenly thought breakfast was included in the £100 a night cost, but it wasn’t. We found when we went for breakfast the continental breakfast was £7pp & cooked breakfast was £12pp. Thought the cost of the continental was far too high, and the cost of the cooked breakfast was too much especially as we would probably of only had scrambled egg on toast! Decided not to have any at all. The Continental breakfast should be included in the price of the room booking, with different rates for cooked choices. If they insist on £12 for full cooked, then maybe £7 ish for other hot choices.

The hotel was lovely and clean and liked the quirky touches in the room and plenty of tea and coffee and biscuits and also btl of water. The restaurant was very smart and the food was amazing couldn't fault anything. They had a cocktail list but didn't have a long island ice tea I asked and they made one for me no problem. The staff are very friendly and very attentive.

It was just a bit remote but never stayed before but always fancied paying a visit due to all the good reviews. Also would be nice if there was an area where if you just require a drink and not food during the day. It is fine if the weather is nice as there is a lovely beer garden plenty of seating. Also would be nice if there was a simple sandwich menu for lunch.

It was beautifully decorated and the facilities were lovely and modern. I requested a ground floor room and got a lovely quiet one at the back of the hotel. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The tea and coffee tray was well-stocked with plenty of different options for coffee, tea and hot chocolate and different sugar and sweeteners to suit the individual.

The shower wasn’t particularly powerful and I do prefer having a removable shower head as opposed to a fixed one. Also, as I’d requested a ground floor room due to mobility issues, having to climb into the bath to shower wasn’t exactly accessibility friendly - I would normally expect a walk-in shower or handrails to get in and out of the bath.

A very nice welcome, comfortable beautifully furnished room, everything clean and in excellent condition. We were offered dog bowls, blankets and treats for our dog, which was a nice touch. We opted for room service which was served promptly and presented nicely on a white linen lined tray. All the staff were very polite, smiling and genuinely lovely. The restaurant was busy and is obviously popular with locals too. We were recommended to stay there by friends in Rufford.

We arrived around 7:30pm & were starving after a busy day of travelling. We ate in the restaurant and the food was exceptional. The room was clean & comfortable and perfect for our overnight stay. We didn’t stay for breakfast as we needed to head off early in the morning. The staff were really helpful & friendly. Would stay again when next in the area.

Breakfast wasn't included but was available without booking and was very good value. The room was a fair size with a shower over the bath. The restaurant was exceptional. Excellent menu, unusual touches to meals and plenty of fish on the menu. They have an outstanding chef.

Nothing really. It was clean, quiet and good value.

The staff at this recently refurbished hotel are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Rooms are well decorated and very clean. We decided to stay for dinner and the food was ambitious and very well cooked and presented. The restaurant is very popular with locals and on the night we stayed there was a free cabaret performing in the restaurant.

The night of our stay coincided with storm Arwen which resulted in an overnight power cut that meant that a cooked breakfast could not be offered. We understand that this was not in the hotel’s control and a candlelit continental breakfast was some comfort. There is no lounge area so the hotel is more motel than hotel. The building construction means that ground floor rooms have noise from rooms above. Chose an upstairs room.
