It's good for the money and the people are good here! The staff was good!

The manager is mean , looks to kick people out! Whoever made her manager, needs to give her people skills! No handicapped Accessibility! I had to wait outside the cold for somebody to open the service entrance to get in! I'm going to ACLU! SHOULD BE LONGER THAN 28 DAYS! CAN'T FIND ANOTHER PLACE! I wish I never came here.

Loved the location, everything was clean, and overall a cool location for sure. For a solo traveler, it was a perfect spot to stay at in LA.

The only thing I didn’t like was the guy who checked me into the hostel was not super friendly. Also when I asked about why they take copies of your card rather than a deposit, he was very rude about it. It was the first time I’d ever seen that and I asked very respectfully so it’s unfortunate that he was no friendly when I asked about it.

Great place to make home base. Any other place in this neighborhood is super expensive. Free WiFi and breakfast, ping pong and billiards. Hawaiian courtyard is cool !!! Mahalo

Banana Bungalow is the only place I'll be staying from here forward in my LA visits! It's such a lovely little place with truly caring staff. Everything I needed was there, accessible, and easy. They really looked after me too when I needed things printed or help with any other thing. Fabulous spot!

I have nothing negative to say at all about Banana Bungalow! I did encounter one visitor who didn't seem to understand the concept of communal spaces, but that is to be expected anywhere (there's always one!) and had nothing to do with the staff or place. They addressed my concern with that person immediately.

I absolutely love this hostel! The location is fantastic, and the building's layout is both modern and comfortable. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, making every stay a pleasure. There's convenient on-site parking, plus plenty of street parking available. One of the best parts about staying here is the vibrant events they host, bringing together amazing people from all over the world. It creates a lively and welcoming atmosphere that truly enhances the experience. Additionally, you can visit and enjoy their sister location on Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood, which also offers exciting events. The free breakfast is a great perk, and with the refreshments and entertainment they provide, it's an incredible value. Honestly, it feels like the hostel pays for itself with all the amenities included. Having visited several hostels in Southern California, I can confidently say this is the best one by far. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable stay in SoCal!

While I initially found the policy requiring proof of ongoing travel, such as a passport or passport card, to be a bit inconvenient, I believe it's part of what makes this hostel special. This rule likely helps maintain a safe and vibrant atmosphere. Thankfully, their sister location on Hollywood Blvd offers some flexibility, accepting just an ID if you happen to lose your travel documentation. They even have a dormitory option available in such cases, which is a thoughtful touch. Overall, this policy is a minor inconvenience in light of the wonderful experience the hostel provides.

I arrived at the wrong hostel & the lovely lady at reception was so welcoming & kind to ensure I got safely to the hostel I’d booked. I’d unfortunately encountered some unwanted attention on the bus so she printed out directions & asked a fellow traveler to wait with me until the bus arrived. All staff weee kind & helpful.

Hostel 1 was fun, lively & had more of a party vibe. More open plan & generally more open. The hostel I booked was more chilled. Met aspiring comedians, singers & actors. I stayed in a dorm with had a bathroom in room. Basic beds, no curtains or lights or plug point in bunk bed space. You make your own bed and take bed linen down to reception when you check. Free breakfast and you can choose up to 3 items.

Clean place, nice staff, free breakfast. Very easy to park the car and good price $10/night. It’s bit far from central Hollywood in residential area. But good access to many place around here. Grove shopping mall, Academy Museum, Fairfax restaurant area, Beverly Center etc… Easy to walk around this area day and night. Nice to feel LA people’s real life style around here.

Parking lot was very dirty with trashes. Just room cleanness is depend on who is in the dormitory room. Some people makes room very dirty so wish to have clean room mate. People smoking in the patio with open the door, so smoke coming into the dining area. Specially long stay people does it and not care other tourist people who prefer to avoid smoking specially someone has kids.

I liked the couches in the lounge, the separate dining areas , inside and outside , the shared full kitchen, the extra fridge space in the kitchen aside from the personal one in the room. I loved our balcony. The free breakfast , the all day tea. Just a general positive vibe and kind helpful staff, some of who went above and beyond. We stayed during Christmas and they even had presents for my kids under the tree. It was really so sweet and thoughtful. It can be noisy some nights but even though I was with kids.. we were all up late and could care less. I see a lot of people complain about the breakfast but they offered bagels, spreads, packaged pastries and instant oatmeal packs. I’m vegan and they even had little vegan oatmeal bites sometimes as well as apples and oranges.

My only issue was the room never really seemed clean after I’d put the Make Up Room sign on the door. The bed wouldn’t be fixed sometimes, sheets not changed or towels not replaced and I didn’t ask very often to clean up either. We stayed a long time too so I would have appreciated a cleaner space.

Good facility. Simple breakfast (outmeal and some sweets, muffins etc). You can free get coffee / tee anytime. You can cook there etc. Use common fridge or small fridge in your room. Showers in your room. Lockers in your room (ofc need to have your own keylock).

Could be better towels. Could be softer/thinner pillows (personal preference... I ended up not using pillow at all otherwise it's too high and breaking neck feeling). Could be free parking (it was 9$ per day underground parking). Or on street public parking - free during night till 8.00 AM.. since I thought will need more sleep so didn't risk and used underground parking.
