The moment we arrived the employees we friendly helpful and generally happy . Wonderful to see, the lodge itself was charming and old and historical and inviting felt like we were somewhere unique, and the boat ride was fun relaxing and full of nature ;

The restaurant on site had average food with exceptional prices ; I felt there was no effort in the taste or preparation. Just average . Could do better; the service was excellent. Now the grill side we did not try but people said it was delicious. Plus it looked charming

Great location for nature buffs. Historic hotel with lots of charm. The location is remote, but there is a restaurant on site with a full bar, and a cafe that is open during the day It is a very old building, with the issues that come with age, but it was a great experience. The best part was the boat tour given by park guides.

Not well set up for people with disabilities and not great if you are expecting spotless rooms and the most modern plumbing. We asked for a room with handicapped access due to the limited mobility of my husband's mom. The room we were given was accessible only through a combination of a small elevator and a short set of steps. It was challenging. The lighting in the rooms was poor (our room didn't even have a reading lamp).

We were late arriving, and had dinner reservations that we had to keep changing. The staff was so kind and so patient. They held a table for us even though we were past our reservation time. The chef cooked all you can eat shrimp after kitchen was closed. We were treated like VIPs even though we were just regular folks. It’s a beautiful state park. Very relaxing atmosphere. Pretty and serene wildlife. Boat tour worthwhile. We had a good time researching history of springs. That makes it more entertaining during visit.

I liked everything about our stay. The park rangers point this out in the boat tour - due to runoff, the springs are dark and murky. I wish waterways could be cleaned up so springs could be returned to former glory & clear waters. But that problem is a responsibility for us all.

February 2023

My husband and mother-in-law stayed 2 nights as part of a road trip from Pensacola to West Palm. We chose it because it was in the right spot on our route, there was a nature park nearby and the price was reasonable. We had no idea we were in for such a treat. The Lodge itself is historic (built in 1935 and the site of several movie filmings, including "The Creature from the Black Lagoon" and "Tarzan of the Apes"). The floors and most of the walls (including those in the rooms) and the staircases are beautiful marble, and the rooms are furnished mostly with antiques. There are lots of common areas-- porches, couches, dining room-- where one can meet and converse with fellow travelers. The dining room is open late, the food was good and they had a good selection of wines and cocktails. But the best (and most unexpected) part was the boat tour, which is run from the hotel's dock but managed by the park service. The tour was very inexpensive (less than $8 per person) and included a fascinating 45-minute ride down a lazy river, surrounded by beautiful birds, lush foliage and LOTS of large and small alligators. In addition to the boat tour, there are lots of hiking trails nearby.

As a function of being built in 1935, the hotel has its quirks. There is one small elevator that has a folding gate. It is beautifully crafted, and is touted by the hotel as the oldest operating elevator of its kind in the country. But on the down side, it didn't line up with the floor the first day, which made it hard to get both the luggage cart and my 90 year old mother-in-law to get in and out. Also, we asked a month in advance for a handicapped room; they said they did not have one but would try to accommodate us. Instead, they put us on the second floor, in a part of the hotel that could only be accessed by navigating a set of steps. It was a challenging set-up but we managed to make it work.

Located in the middle of park, very quiet and peaceful. Excursion with the boat down the river was amazing. Lots of wildlife like alligators, egrets, blue heron and manatees! Place was very historical. Very old "Tarzan" movie as well as "The creature from the back lagoon" were shown in the seating area.

Walls were paper-thin! Could hear everything happening in the next room. Food was OK. While I appreciate the old style and decor, the chairs in the restaurant should seriously be updated. The seating was so low that chin was barely above the table! Rather uncomfortable for eating! Staff was a hit and miss. Some were very nice and helpful, others didn't even bother to smile. Housekeeping simply moved a chair in the room one day, but didn't collect any garbage or exchanged towels. Wouldn't recommend it for more than 1 day.

Amazing location in the Wakulla State Park. Beautiful, unique hotel. Restaurant was reasonably priced and offered good variety of dishes. There was also a snack bar and souvenir shop. You can take a boat trip down the springs which is very good value and right by the Lodge.

Restaurant was a bit disorganised (booking system didn't work too well) but we got a table eventually. Snack bar closes at 5 which we had not realised ( we were told opening hours were 9-6 but they stop taking food orders at5).

This hotel is definitely the hidden gem! My family and I were evacuating from Ian hurricane, looking for one night to stay and this place was the only available in Tallahassee area. How lucky for us! The room was amazing: very clean and comfortable. There was a king bed, unfolding sofa and 1 folding bed. Staff is very kind, helpful and professional. Beautiful hall with marble chess tables, TV and piano on the first floor. The breakfast was delicious, it costs about $50 for 4 of us (2 adults and 2 kids) and it’s absolutely worth it. They also have very nice gift shop, my kids loved it! And the last but not the least is nature! We’ve seen manatees swimming in the springs and had a beautiful walk on the trail.

Everything was perfect.

The hotel building was beautiful, with so much character not only in its architecture but also moving touches such as Old Joe. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, too. A definite highlight and strong recommendation is the boat tour, which takes you through some stunning landscapes (possibly even more gorgeous in the morning light) where you can see some local wildlife. We must've seen about 30 alligators, and even spotted a manatee. The whole stay was reasonably priced for what you get, but the boat tour was especially great value!

Some of the facilities were in need of upkeep - the main light in our bedroom, for instance, wasn't working (not such a big problem, since we had table and floor lamps). Would've been good to have a kettle / coffeemaker in the room, too. Breakfast was good, but we weren't bowled over. Great service, though.

Efforts to preserve historic character. Proximity to springs boat tour and museum. Old fashioned soda fountain in the gift shop. Food was delicious; glass table top was scratched and hazy (not appetizing). Probably better to cover the table tops with cloths than have them look ratty. Loved the period jazz playing softly in the dining room; added a lot of ambience. Checkers game tables were charming and being used every time we were passing through the lobby area. Like the new, improved staffing that meant front desk phone was answered regardless of what time call was made.

Was sad the movie memorabilia was mostly removed. Very few movie posters, memorabilia on sale in gift shop. There's room at Wakulla to preserve and admire nature and history while also celebrating the Tarzan and Creature from Black Lagoon movies made there when Wakulla Springs Lodge was in its social prime.

Gorgeous secluded location and building, in the heart of the Wakulla Springs State park. The hotel was the perfect balance between high end and low key at a fair price. The restaurant was excellent, quite and varied. Staff was super attentive and friendly. For outdoor lovers, you can access the hiking trails from the hotel parking lot, there is a shorter and a longer option. And you can access also the boat tour and the spring swimming area from the back of the hotel. Very convenient.

I missed coffee!! They only provide limited complimentary coffee in the first floor in the mornings. Otherwise it’s hard to get one outside breakfast time. There is no coffee maker in the room, and there’s nowhere close to go nearby. There’s nothing around so you’ll need to drive if you want to have meals somewhere else. This is not negative for me, I liked the secluded location, and actually the dining options on premise are excellent, but I understand that others may prefer a more centric place.
