A great great hostel!! Amazing, super helpful and fun staff, that also executed free trips around Maui. The hostel was really spaceous and clean, the kitchen and the showers (with provided shampoo and soap) all look quite new, there is also a laundry room inside. We had a great free pancake breakfast in the morning by the staff and the hostel also offers some snorkeling gear, organizes a karaoke night and a bbq night with a cheaper meal and drinks. Overall such a good feeling, also due to fellow travelers, who are in majority in their early 20s. There is also free parking available on the street from the hours of 6pm-10am, which is enough, because you usually are gone during the day if you are there by car. Location is great to go anywhere in the island quickly, but otherwise it is not a really preety neighbourhood, you cannot really go for a walk around it, there is not much to see and you would also need to drive or uber to a beach. But there are many ppl who would share that uber or you would catch a bus. A really great value for the money and such a fun stay!!

There were not enough spoons in the kitchen! :D

Hands down the BEST hostel! Such an amazing experience and community, I made so many friends, everyone is friendly and I love that they have the van and fun excursions! Thanks Kara for the amazing lao valley trip and that you Bruno for taking us to the best spot for snorkelling ! 🫶🏼 Tips:1) sit in the common area and you are destined to make friends ! 2)If the van is full ask on the Whatsapp group, someone will have a car and a spot for you 3)Book your stay HERE !!

I loved everything, the only thing that made me sad was that I had to leave! Tip: If you want to go on a excursion with the Howzit van you may have to get up a little early to put your name on the list but don’t worry if you can’t the amazing people you share a stay with will probably have a car that you can hitch a ride with 🚐

The location in cute Wailuku downtown was great for feeling grounded when arriving in Maui, and the Iao valley is nearby. I appreciated the fact that they have affordable tours everyday so you could effectively stay here a week and see loads of the island without a car or blowing the budget. The whole venue was very organised and kept tidy and plenty of showers.

Minor things, the mattress was very firm so after a long flight it wasn't great on the soreness. There is a chill out /mixed zone downstairs but it would be nice if there was quiet soft reading seating elsewhere like balcony or anywhere there's space.

Really nice and well equipped kitchen as well as a great common area (inside and backyard). There are quite a few individual bathrooms so waiting times are limited. There is also a female only bathroom. The hostel offers great activities that are included in the price and make it really fun to explore the island. They also offer fun evening activities like beer pong or barbecues. If you‘re looking for a very quite hostel this one probably isn‘t for you.

Although the trips are fun and free there are limited spots. The van can only take up to 14 people and popular activities like the Road to Hanā are very difficult to get on. Often other people staying at Howzit will have a car and share a ride. But keep in mind that in the price you pay for the hostel an activity is not guaranteed.

This place is Awesome! I loved everything about it. If you book here you will not be disappointed! The Staff was attentive, the vibes were impeccable, the free pancakes and coffee every morning were delicious, and the daily excursions take you all over the island! Whenever I'm in Maui I will be staying here....No doubt about it!

I can be a bit of a nitpicker with facilities when I travel....but honestly there is absolutely nothing I disliked about staying at this property. I can't think of a single thing to complain about lol My stay at Howzit Hostel was excellent.

When I finally arrived I walked up to the door and they were singing Take me home West Virginia by John Denver...I am from WV so it made me feel very comfortable and excited to come in! It is an amazing hostel, this was my firtst time in one. My key code never worked for the front door so that was very frustrating since people (I wasn't the only one) were not able to get in until someone happened to come out. The room was fine although Im a big girl with a knee injury so climbing on a top bunk was very inconvenient. the ladder could be a little bigger since we are adults not tiny kiddos. all the amenities they offered were amazing I am sorry I did not have the time to hang out more and meet more people. It was an awesome overall experience and I hope I can try again someday

I realize its run by volunteers but there were a lot of questions that could not be answered so maybe just a little more training for the people running the front desk. and big people need big ladders for the bunk beds!!

This is one of the best hostels I have been recently! Great atmosphere created by the volunteers, many organized trips and events, guests can easily socialize. The hostel is super clean, the bathrooms are wide and modern, the kitchen has everything you will need to cook your own meals. There is pool, foosball, many other games, location is good, there is a Safeway and a Foodland within walking distance. Met great people and had a very good time at the Howzit, can't wait to get back to Maui and visit again!

There are no drawers, or anywhere to put your stuff. They do not have lockers, and it is fine, as it is a very safe hostel, but the dorm was small and it was hard to keep your stuff organized. But this was a minor problem, I loved my stay at the Howzit.

OMG I loved it here! Super clean hostel and really good facilities. The hostel has activities everyday, which is perfect so you can see different parts of the island (I didn’t have a car so this was perfect for me). Also free pancakes every morning, which is nice because Hawaii can be expensive. This place was the highlight of my trip, I absolutely loved it, met the most amazing people and big thanks to the wonderful staff, especially Carlos, Emilio and Dan!! They made my stay so much more fun. Such good energy. Miss them already!

Really enjoyed the communal aspects of the hostel, they do have free pancake breakfast and the daily scheduled trip. We didn't actually join a scheduled trip but the big open lobby allowed for easy group making. The price of the hostel is quite good in comparison to the other options on the island. Also quite close to a good selection of food and necessities. Parking is relatively easy to find.

The rooms themselves are a tad hit or miss, we had two bunks in a four bunk room. Can be noisy and temperature is highly variable based on usage of the fan or AC - I found it rather cold both nights. They only give you a small sheet and a pillow that doesn't really stack up to other accommodations on the island. For a tall person the bunks will be too small for you, I slept in a curl for our stay there.

Howzit Hostels was amazing! The place was so comfortable and clean, particularly the bathrooms! The staff were really really nice, easy going, and above and beyond in helpfulness. Chocolate chip pancakes and coffee every morning for breakfast was wonderful. They even had tours you could sign up for each day and some events in the evenings. The whole place fostered such a positive, connecting environment that it was so easy to travel alone there.

It was all great! Nothing negative to say except I wish I could have stayed longer.
