Besides getting a warm, welcoming reception at the front desk, we loved everything about the hotel: the gift shop, the pastry display and delicious pastries, the saloon, the artwork and framed images along the hallways, etc., etc. And, of course, we enjoyed our 3rd-floor room with a wonderful view of the snow-covered houses below.

The only problem we experienced was that, due to the inclement weather (i.e., a historic blizzard that hit the area), there was no TV/Cable reception whatsoever. However, we didn't mind because the internet was unaffected and we were able to watch YouTube news, etc.

The hotel is very old but that is what I was looking for. The rooms are large compared to many places I stayed at in the past. There wasn't a refrigerator or coffee maker in the room but neither was necessary in my case. Fresh coffee was available in the lobby. Parking was a bit of a bother but only because the city held a Fiesta that weekend in the town square right outside the hotel. All we needed to do was to walk out the front door to be part of it. I always found the people in New Mexico friendly but every one I met treated you as family. The hotel hung these plaques outside certain rooms that denoted various famous people who have stayed there and described what had brought them to the Original Las Vegas. Very clean, comfortable and quiet. Will absolutely stay there the next time I visit.

The restaurant was a bit of a let down. My family ate dinner there one night (10 of us) and the food was not that exciting. My sister had a dish that was way too hot (spicy) and she couldn't even eat it. They charged us for it anyway. The pizza we ordered was palatable but not better than a frozen pizza. My fried chicken was breaded too much and fried too long. Nothing that might be different on another visit with someone else cooking in the kitchen. No problem though. There are a lot of eateries close by that more than made up for it. All of them terrific.

This historic hotel had plenty of charm. Some rooms had signs outside the door telling of famous people that had previously stayed in that room. Our room was huge and had a great bathroom set-up with dressing room. The hotel is on a plaza with restaurants, drug store and shopping. It seemed like a safe location for walking around town.

Being a very old building, there were a few of the standard modern conveniences that were lacking. But what it lacked in modern conveniences, it made up for in historic charm.

I LOVED the hotel! I wasn't sure when I made the reservations but once I arrived, I fell in love. The pictures, the decor, the books, furniture, everything was wonderful! I felt like I was back in time, in the best of ways.

Two small points: First, traveling for business, I needed to be up and out around 6 am. The small offered breakfast doesn't start until 7 am, so I had to purchase breakfast. The second, The bedding was a bit old. I love the old building but when I go to bed, I would prefer a newer comforter. The sheets were great though!

We went to the bar for drinks first ( 8+ hours driving). They're music was great; a little rock and roll, country mix, blues..relaxing. Also had College basketball on the t.v.'s. I had Miso cod over couscous with kale, greens and sprouts, my hubby had a burger with green chiles, bacon and truffle fries. DELICIOUSLY PERFECT! The bartender, David, and his manager, George, we're so pleasant to speak with and so attentive to us. It was a wonderful late evening...we slept very comfortable in the Hillary Swank room. The Plaza has great history and Las Vegas, NM is small, quaint town!

There were zero disappointments.

It was convenient for what we needed. Fun to stay at a historical landmark...great to explore. Loved all the bookcases.

Single pane windows thar the caulking is gone on and the breeze flows right through...literally moving the curtains. Made for very chilly October nights. Was told no extra blankets were available and that the boiler/furnace had not been turned on yet. Bathroom sink was running slowly and reported to staff but it was never addressed. Did not receive their little handout during check-in so had no info about housekeeping (daily, on request), room service (available/not available).

Loved the hotel feel, the music in the restaurant was awesome! Also, the boutique and option for coffee shop and pastries was nice too. My husband and I especially loved the fact that it didn’t have the bottom line toilet and toilet paper. I know that’s silly but it’s such a nice thing to have. The layout of the hotel was awesome and the features/pictures/furniture throughout was amazing.

The only thing that was a little sad was the fact that in the morning only one person was in the coffee shop and we stood there for a while waiting to order and decided we would go elsewhere. It seemed as though they were not hurrying at all to get orders. I’m a patient person but didn’t want to wait. But that’s it!

Once you open the beautiful doors to go in, you’ll see a restaurant on the left side and a bar on the right hand side. Going in a little further was an area to purchase pastries and coffee/tea. The check-in was right after that along with a little gift shop of beautiful items for purchase. At check in, they give you a key with a beautiful keychain attached which is available at the gift shop for purchase. The key is an actual key not a digital key. There is an elevator available for those who need assistance to their room but if you’d rather take the stairs, you’ll come across this amazing staircase with beautiful wood rails. On each floor there were many bookcases filled with books. My room which was on the 3rd floor, had 2 beds, 2 bookcases, a refrigerator, desk, chair. The bathroom was a good size. When you walk in, you have the sink to your right, a dresser to the left of that, and then the shower and toilet. Both the toilet and shower had a hand-rail to hold onto in case assistance was needed. It was an overall wonderful experience and I highly recommend as I know I’ll be coming back.

This is a hotel with a fascinating history which has been used in several movies and has had a lot of famous people as guests, there are pictures outside the rooms they stayed in. Our room was not large but had everything we needed. The evening meals were tasty and our server was friendly and helpful. The hotel does not have its own parking but it is easy to park on the plaza.

The card in our room stated that the restaurant was open for breakfast every day but when we stayed it was closed until 11.00. We had a very nice coffee and pastry in the lobby but not quite the cooked breakfast my partner had hoped for!

Loved that it was directly in town

The hotel room was an awkward set up, understandable for an old hotel. There was one tiny window that faced a brick wall, so not much natural light in the room. The beds seemed comfortable but did not like the linens. No fuzzy blankets or comforter. The heating unit did not seem to work properly and was a bit noisy. The pictures online do not represent the room we stayed in.
