One of the nicest places on our road trip. The staff were so nice, helpful and accommodating. Out was a Sunday night so a little more reasonable in price but we wish we could have stayed longer. They allowed a later check out because we were getting a flight and also allowed us to use their pedalo for free. It was the perfect last night of our holiday. The pool area was well kept and cleaned in the morning before guests could use it. There is a nice beach/dock by their own marina which has amazing views. There is a laundry facility but you will need to ask where it is as it's not obvious. One lady showed us and even got us change. Brilliant customer service. A great supermarket is nearby too. Perfect

The beach/dock needs regular cleaning as there were a lot of dead crab shells from the seagulls and this attracted wasps. The pool chlorine level was high. Honestly only minor things to be honest

This was a self catering bungalow. Excellent kitchen with very large fridge and modern cooker. Plus a large microwave. The living/ kitchen area was an adequate size with settee and dining table. The bedroom was comfortable with plenty of storage. The bathroom was fairly small but had everything you would need and it all worked well. Plenty of towels and toiletries. There was a thermostat for the heating and ample blankets to keep warm. Outside was a small balcony with chairs and table. It was quiet and had a walkway down to the boat dock with super views over the estuary. There were plenty of chairs, tables and a firepit plus at the back of the bungalow there were tables and a barbecue. There was a pool but it was too chilly to use in October. The bungalow was cleaned each day if needed.

The kitchen equipment could have been better, eg there was only one wine glass, one teaspoon, one large frying pan was very burnt and stained. There were other saucepans and another frying pan to use however. We bought our own wooden spoon and had plastic teaspoons and extra forks. Apart from the above items in the kitchen, we had no complaints.

Colonial Shores is a reasonable choice for a place to stay in the western Hampton area. This is not a "luxury resort" in any sense of the term, but rather a clean, well-run motel complex located in a quiet residential area with a small harbor on Tiana Bay. The accommodations we had (Room 23) were smallish but lived up to the description of a "suite" as they had a separate living room, a nice kitchenette, and a full bathroom. There was ample closet and storage space, and everything worked. No broken anything, a very pleasant change from so many other places we've stayed. The pool was very well appointed with lounge chairs and tables. Cleanliness was abundant everywhere.

For those staying on the 2nd floor of the main building, note that there are steep stairs required to reach it. Our bedroom, with two double beds, had one closet that was almost unreachable due to the tightness of the furniture in the room. The deck in front of the rooms on the second floor have tables and chairs, a nice touch, but required the shades to be down at all times for privacy, thus nullifying the water views. Soundproofing was an occasional issue, due to the thinness of the walls and that outside deck.

The staff was fantastic. The location was great. The view was wonderful. The amenities worked so well for our family: pool, basketball court, paddle boats. A great family vacation.

It is slightly outdated and because of that certain items appeared a bit rusted. But that would in no way deter me from staying again!

The location on Tiana Bay was beautiful, and a short drive to Dune Road beaches.it’s a very quiet and relaxing property, with beautiful surroundings. Very nice staff!

Our cottage was nice, but we could not see the water. We moved to a single room, which was brighter and more up lifting, with a great view of the bay!

The pool and balcony

Floors felt a little sticky and the room was very warm when we first arrived. We alerted maintenance and their response was “Not much we can do because it’s 100 degrees out,” even though the actual temp was 85… Nonetheless, they were able to fix it and the temperature was cool the remainder of the trip.

It is probably the best option in hamtong bays. it is clean, the pool is great, you can do bbq…

rooms are a little bit cold, even with the a/c off. the sofa bed should be renovated

We loved our cottage ,so clean and nearby everything. Kitchen w Mr Coffee maker plus coffee for next morning was perfect. As was the super clean fridge and bathroom. Appreciated the quiet.

everything was great. the bungalows are wonderful.

we had a small amount of noise issues in the adjoining unit. nothing terrible but the walls are thin.
