Great location. The underground Queen room was amazing - very clean and quiet. The hotel bar had reasonable prices (comparable to a pub in Sydney) and has a pool table and a pokies section. The pool area looked great but we unfortunately didn’t get to use it. Lots of parking. Felt safe to leave your car but definitely make sure to take your valuables and lock it. The hotel also had an excellent underground museum - definitely worth a wander.

The hot water took ages to run but was very hot once it finally came through. The WiFi was nonexistent if you were in an underground room once they closed that main door from outside. The very nice man at the reception said that they have three routers and boosters but it still struggles to stay connected. I don’t know why they can’t run a hard line for internet to each room if they can run power for the lights and pipes for the plumbing. I had to sit in the bar area to send some work emails and it was a bit awkward.

This room was clean, comfortable, good temperature, very pleasant (room 4). Great value for money, and fun “underground room” - which isn’t completely underground, as it’s on ground level and the door opens up to the carpark. It’s just the walls are sealed dirt with no windows. The cafe for breakfast was great, delicious sourdough and eggs. The best meal we had in Coober Pedy, which made it a shame that we couldn’t eat there for dinner! Friendly staff.

The room I stayed in last week (116) had dirt and salt falling off onto the need and chair all night which was unpleasant. This room was great. Unfortunate that the cafe only serves breakfast which is a shame because their food was delicious.

The hotel is well situated in Coober Pedy and the room was comfortable and clean. There was no restaurant on site but their partner hotel up the road was easly accessed and had nice food. There is a very nice cafe on site. The museum accessed through the cafe or reception is worth a visit too!

The only small issue we had was that it took a long time for hot water to reach the taps in our room. This meant we had to waste water waiting for it to get hot - which we felt bad about given that water is such a scarce commodity in the area.

I liked the location and size of the room. Being mature I didn't have to climb. Stairs and the pool was a 1 min walk and so clean n refreshing. The upgraded room was beautiful , clean n comfortable. Do quiet at night. I also had breakfast in the morning which was so big and delicious.well priced and discounted it was so good ready for long travel. The cappuccinos were very good too. I loved everything about this stay.

Nothing .other than not having meals but I went to outback eatery instead

The hotel was in a good location and has secure parking which we were happy with! The above ground room we stayed in was comfortable although a little outdated. We loved the underground museum on the history of Coober Pedy which is very well put together and informative. The staff member who helped us check in was very polite and we were offered a discount for a food venue on the main road as they don’t serve food at the hotel. The food at the Opal Inn is amazing, absolutely no complaints.

Very comfortable, clean, well appointed room set off a corridor.. I have stayed at Desert Cave several times in the past few months. This is the first time I stayed in this part of the complex.Although the room offered greater privacy and was updated, the WiFi service was abysmal compared to the previous rooms.

WiFi connectivity in this room was unreliable and patchy. Best access to internet in this room was in early hours of the morning..

We stayed in an underground room, which you enter at ground level. Great breakfast and coffee! Staff were lovely, and we enjoyed our stay! There was also an underground museum about mining and the area which was great too.

It was perhaps a bit tired, some of the sheets were a bit worn and a little bit of mould in the bathroom, but it was clean. Some reviews said that it needed a vacuum, but like it’s the in the middle of the dusty dessert, and the room is literally carved out of rock, so I think these things are pretty reasonable considering!

Check-in desk staff was so helpful and kind. The pool was lovely and well situated. The nicest staff we met in Australia. Coffee was really, really good in the restaurant.

Could have used a cleaning of our room even if they didn't want to remake the linens etc. Specifically a vacuum. (Also, I didn't ask and should have.)

Room was a great size, very spacious, as was the bathroom. Bed was comfortable, it was a nice, quiet and relaxing nights stay. Great motel, clean and comfortable and a very convenient location, walking distance to iga.

The small freezer section in the old fridge was almost completely full of ice, couldn't fit our ice packs in that we needed for travelling the next day. I chose & booked a room based on the information & photographs on booking.com, it showed and stated a room with a balcony and outdoor furniture but that wasn't the room we were given, there was no outdoor furniture or area to sit outside.

It is thoroughly cleaned, in a great location and good value for money. There is plenty of parking.

We made the choice to stay in an above ground room during pretty serious heat. We have previously stayed here and would now go the underground room every time.
