This is a good property and I have rated it highly (anything over 8 is high for me). The room was good, a pleasant view of the city, well located, well provisioned, excellent parking facilities, reception staff helpful, and I can recommend this to travellers. However, the outstanding feature was the very high quality of the food. It has an awkward provenance, in that the “restaurant “ is a bar, containing those awkward high stools, unattractive modern music etc. However, the hotel has an outstanding chef, whom I met after dining. This extraordinary gentleman needs a proper restaurant to supplement his talents. The service was slightly awkward with a young waitress, with minor delays in wine orders, but all was forgotten when the food arrived. Of particular note was a duck dish with brilliantly nuanced sauces (2), but the entire meal was of an extraordinary quality, given the setting and the city involved. Well done, and I hope he is appreciated by the owners. Since 1976 I have travelled to 72 countries, and this gentleman can hold his head up very high. Also the architecture of the cathedral and the emotions stirred by the Sydney II memorial are excellent, and must not be missed

Nothing important given the skills of the chef!

The location is excellent, right near the centre of town. Also, the rooftop parking was incredibly convenient and for guests, all undercover (which was great as it was rainy & windy). The room was generous and comfortable, perhaps a little 'motel'y' but nice big windows. Reception was incredibly helpful & friendly Plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby .. Just make sure to book (we didn't and ended up having a good pub meal) on end of week/weekend, and be aware they tend to close early'ish

Nothing really, but it does feel a bit haphazard ... e.g. to get to our room, we took the lift to level 3, and met the rooftop bar which was pumping, then discovered a secure door in a narrow passageway into the guest wing ... perfectly quiet and worked fine once we understood if, but just a bit off kilter

Fantastic location - right in the middle of town. Close to the water and local restaurants /shops. Absolutely huge room. Nice decor & decoration. Good quality toiletries & shower. Loved the nod of environmental concerns with their make up removing towels & use of "WGAC" toilet paper. Friendly reception staff including the lady that was in training on her 2nd day in the job. Rooftop bar was nice for drinks.

A few little niggles which we did let reception know on leaving, not enough to stop me recommending but stops me from giving a 5 star rating - eg. Remote not working and having the batteries taped in, curtain poles not attached meaning I had to move furniture to close the blinds, cupboard door coming off. Just slightly spoiled what would have been a top marks review.

Location: Cafe Fleur, just 200 metres from hotel, for breakfast or lunch.

The food at “Old Man and the Sea” was substandard. The “market price” fish was dry and accompaniments were very average. The squid dish was almost inedible. The hotel could make a name for itself if it concentrated on supplying imaginative meals using the best of local produce.

Can’t fault this place!!! We had an issue with the room we booked so they upgraded us to the luxury two bedroom apartment on the top floor. The two young ladies on the counter were lovely to deal with. Very friendly, helpful and accomodating. Our meal at the restaurant Old man and the sea roof top bar on the 3rd floor was delicious and really tasty. We are going back in a couple of nights as a over night stop off on our way back to Perth and look forward to staying again. Thanks from the Lowe family

We both had room service for dinner and my wife's fish & chips is the best she has ever had(71yo). My steak was superb

Good location, the room was very clean, modern and fresh. Never had a tv that glowed before, thanks! Loved the rooftop bar at night, great idea but no breakfast available for guests, disappointing. The also had a bar on the ground floor and looked really good but we didn't visit it when we stayed.

Omg the lift and hallway was like an oven, just horribly uncomfortable. I don't understand why such a modern hotel wouldn't be fully airconditioned. We arrived 1 hour prior to check in after a 4 hour drive and were turned away and told to come back at 2, no flexibility at the front desk. We were able to check in and leave our bags but surely rooms are already prepared for new guests by 1pm? I wasn't convinced that the hotel reception has guests are their first prior. Felt like they just follow the rules with no flexibility.

The Gerald is centrally located in town close to restaurants, shops and beach. Modern facilities with a great rooftop bar and restaurant.

Had to ask to have the bathroom floor cleaned - looked like a tradie had been in there to fix plumbing or something. No real problem.

Big and clean room with comfy bed. Free parking lots at the rooftop. A great location near many restaurants. Also very friendly staff who helped us check in and heat the leftovers. Thanks a lot!

There was a door that could not locked on the wall that may connected to the next room....which was blocked only by a sofa...And also I personally don't like the bed is opposed to the mirror..

Great location near beach, bars, restaurants, pharmacy etc. big room and bathroom, enough for family with kids Car park locked with gate during night times, which i left my languages on my car roof without took into my foom with no trouble. Very friendly staff, helped us open the car park gate at midnight (which i forgot the code to enter) great hotel, highly recommanded.

no microwave in the room, could not heat milk for my kid
