Billabong Backpackers is located close to the city on a major frequent bus route and very close to cafes, restaurants and bars. The room was a good size and clean even if it was a bit run down and dated. The bed was surprisingly comfortable as I expected a lot worse!! The facilities are great and had everything you need for a good stay.

The pool area is one of the areas that smoking is permitted which made the area difficult to enjoy. House rules about areas where alcohol is not allowed are not enforced. I don't think the younger crowd were used to an older person hanging out there but it was still a good stay.

- good sized private room - pretty clean. Bed was comfortable to sleep in - we were tucked away at the end of the corridor facing the car park so it was quiet - fair, strict rules about noise so you got a good night’s sleep - breakfast - big communal area - staff were helpful - car parking

- carpet in room needs a thorough clean - the noise of some guests/long term tenants was too loud at times. Remember to be respectful of others! - bit further away from the city centre, but we don’t mind walking and there were public buses outside the hostel and a free bus service a bit further down the road

The location was very good. The use of the kitchen was also very useful. The staff was nice. The room had a balcony and a nice view until the smokers and loud people started hanging out.

Noisy. I would advise people to book the street side. There is so much noise from the parking lot and pool. One day a very loud party of very loud people went on from noon until 11 pm. Almost every night we were woken up by loud people talking in the hallway at 3 am and even 5 am. I am not sure why there were so many inconsiderate people staying there.

Easy check in/check out - 24h reception if arriving late. Pool area is closed at 11pm so the noise from outside is terminated at 11, no noise issues after this time. But there is still space inside to relax after 11. Around 15-20 min walk to Perth Central Station. Trains in each direction from there I.e to Airport, Fremantle, etc. 5-10min bus from hostel to Perth Central Station also if you wish. 10-15 min walk to Northbridge area with loads of food options

Place could have been cleaner

It's a very well located hostel, despite the number of people staying there it's quiet. You have a private bathroom in the room. Breakfast is included and really very good.

unfortunately some travelers here have been there for a long time so it's difficult to integrate (this is not the hostel's fault but important to know). In addition some travelers who have lived there for a while, work for the hostel and are not pleasant. But the rest of the staff is so nice. And the room was not washed every day just changed the trash.

Very good hostel! Staff was nice, room was clean and comfortable, 15 minutes walking from CBD or just 4 bus stops (the bus is in front of the building). A nice swimming pool area to chat with other people or just to chill

The kitchen is always crowded and not very clean. There were mostly long-term residents (90% Italian and French) so it’s difficult to meet people for travelers that only stay for 4-5 nights

Busy hostel with FIFO workers/ people on the working holiday visa. Easy to meet people and make friends! Great location to the city and on a bus route. Room was spacious but not the cleanest. Monday was a cleaning day for my room however, they only changed the bins. Kitchen was tidy and cleaned daily but some of the hobs didn’t work. Staff were friendly and helpful too. Would stay here again

Not the cleanest

We stayed in a private room with an en-suite, room had everything we needed, towels, kettle. Breakfast included Great kitchen with lots of fridge space Reasonably priced car pack considering the location! Pool!

The door to the room and to the balcony on the room wasn’t very secure

Well located in Perth, with a bus stop at the door and still only few minutes walk from the downtown. It’s a hostel so you can expect it to be noisy and busy, yet at 11pm the staff ensures no parties is allowed (although some people failed to understand that). As I said, it’s a hostel so the customers are generally young and here to have fun, that has to be expected but we had a nice stay for a very good price.

Rooms and bathrooms could use a bit of uplift, but then it’s a cheap accomodation and not a 5 stars hotel, nothing dramatic.

The facilities were nice and the staff were very helpful.

I guess I did not really know what the food situation here was. I should have known it was more like a hostel instead of a motel. I was a little surprised by having to pay extra for dishes and utensils. As a hostel that makes sense, but I guess I thought it was more like a motel instead of a combination of the two.
