Outstanding Stay at Hotel Untersberg – A Perfect Family Getaway! Our stay at Hotel Untersberg was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment we arrived, my family and I were warmly welcomed by the attentive staff, and the hospitality only got better throughout our stay. This is truly one of the best hotels we’ve ever experienced. The location is stunning—nestled at the base of the majestic Untersberg mountain, offering breathtaking views and the perfect atmosphere for a peaceful retreat. Whether we were sipping coffee on the terrace or heading out for a day of exploring, the scenic backdrop was unforgettable. The rooms were spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully furnished with a perfect blend of modern amenities and alpine charm. Every detail was thoughtfully curated to ensure comfort and relaxation, which made us feel right at home. The hotel’s restaurant deserves special mention as well. The food was simply outstanding—authentic Austrian cuisine prepared with fresh, local ingredients. Each meal was a delight, and the breakfast buffet was a family favorite with its wide variety of delicious options. What really sets Hotel Untersberg apart is the exceptional service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect, always attentive and eager to help. They even provided us with great tips for local attractions and activities, making our trip truly memorable. There wasn’t anything that stood out as negative for me. It was a great experience overall

After staying in hostels, this hotel felt like pure luxury! We had a huge suite with a king sized bedroom separated from the living area (double sofa bed), both with TVs. There was a good sized balcony off the living area with a close up view of the mountain and the cable car. Everything was spotlessly clean and well maintained throughout the hotel. Breakfast was excellent with a very good selection of hot and cold food. The staff were all helpful and polite, and spoke very good English (although they were also very patient with my attempts at German!). The bus stops right out the back of the hotel, which takes you directly to the city and train station, as well as the zoo, Schloss Hellbrunn and various shops and restaurants in the intermediate towns.

The sofa bed was a little uncomfortable, especially for adults. However, we have yet to find a ‘comfortable’ sofa bed on our travels, so didn’t expect anything else!

We stayed there for 3 nights - my mother, me and my daughter (9). We enjoyed the hotel a lot, the location is absolutely perfect as a starting point for the trips (bus stop to Salzburg at the corner, cable car to Untersberg 50m from the reception, not far by car to Berchtesgarden, Königssee and other trip places). Lots of parking places for free. The breakfast was delicious and rich, every evening we had perfect dinner in hotel restaurant. The hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful, the communication prior trip fast. The room was clean, well equipped and big enough. In hotel there is a relaxation zona (sauna), which we haven't used.

The duvets were very warm for the summer season which made sleeping a bit uncomfortable even with opened window. Someone was constantly smoking on next balcony, so the smoke was in our room all the time - maybe no smoking area should be extended also to balcony.

Location for travelling around the area by car was perfect. Plus for visiting Salzburg there are 2 buses which terminate right behind the hotel. We bought the Salzburg pass for 48 hours which includes the buses in the area plus either free or reduced cost for entry to the attractions in and around the city. Breakfast very good.

We had a fantastic stay at the hotel with a room for 5 people that fit perfectly. Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the clock tower. The hotel's strategic location is great for those with a car, situated between Salsberg and the Cunningsburg Area. The on-site restaurant offers excellent dinner options. Additionally, the cable car to the mountain is conveniently just a minute away. The hotel staff was very pleasant throughout our stay.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room looked like on the photo and it was clean. The bathroom was equipped with everything what need during the stay. The breakfast was delicious and satiesfied any expectations. After a tiring day was very pleasurable relaxing in the wellness centre.

The size of the parking area should be a little bit bigger.

Very fine hotel, excellent food. I missed the airco when i entered the room. The room was very warm, but opening the window for 39 minutes remedied this really well. Nice and traditional style hotel, a bit dated but very nice and clean. I just stopped for one night on my way further south. I will definitely do this again 😁 Thank you

Hmmm Difficult to say. Most of what i could suggest is really personal preference… e.g. carpets on the floors, i would prefer a nice wooden floor.

The hotel was surrounded by beautiful trees, nature and mountains. A cosy hotel

The only thing is that cleaning could be improved in the rooms. We had two children and I felt that there was a smell in the toilets after they cleaned.

Large enough family room, rich and varied breakfast, convenient location.

I didn't expect there was no free hot water for making tea. I wanted to make medicine for my son, but I didn't expect it would cost 1 euro to get a cup of hot water.

I loved the thoughtful, high quality way the hotel is decorated, full of lovely details. The staff were all very nice. The food in the restaurant was delicious. The wellness area was much appreciate after a day of hiking. The room and balcony were very spacious. There was a ironing service we used that we were very happy with.

There was only one pillow per person (though I assume we could have gotten more if we asked). The pizza I had for dinner wasn't the best (the rest of the dishes we had like turkey salad, lamb chops, fish and especially the desserts were all REALLY good). The mattress was harder than our taste.
