Mango Tree is the best option if you want to stay in a cool place with good people and also feel the Rio vibe. The internet and the accommodation are fine, the place is comfortable and clean. They have bathrooms outside the rooms, which I found it so cool specially if you're staying in the shared rooms. They are big and comfortable, just as their rooms. The AC is new and so good, the blankets are clean, and the lockers are fine too. The kitchen is really complete and clean. But the best thing is the staff. A massive thanks to the manager, to Pedro and specially Fabio, they will have a space in my heart! <3
My roommates! If you're there, please be clean and nice to other people!!

Outstanding location, one block from Ipanema Beach and three blocks from the metro. Locked and controlled entry, and visible to desk attendants. Friendly staff go out of their way to help, answer questions, make tourism suggestions, and they're just nice people (and speak English too). Room's good air conditioning a big plus in humid Rio. Common sitting areas with hammocks, tables with umbrellas, and cushioned chairs. Ipanema is an intact community filled with restaurants, cafes, little shops, and nicer for a stay then frenetic Copacabana.
Lockers in the rooms are small and do not fully close even with locks on them. Could use a few more bathrooms and showers.

I recently stayed at The Mango Tree Ipanema Hostel and had a pleasant experience overall. The location is unbeatable, with Ipanema beach, bars, and restaurants just a stone's throw away. It was also very easy to get Ubers to the main sites in Rio from here. The hostel bar serves cold beers and delicious caipirinhas at reasonable prices, making it a great spot to unwind after a day of exploring. The beds were comfortable, though I did have an issue with the sheets not having elasticated corners, which resulted in waking up directly on the mattress—a hygiene concern that the hostel could improve upon. Lockers were included in the price and were a good size, though their placement under the beds made them somewhat difficult to access. I stayed in a 6-person dorm that shared a terrace with another 6-person dorm. The shared terrace was a nice feature, providing a communal space to relax. Each bed had its own lamp and power socket, and the wall-mounted lamps were perfect for resting a smartphone on top of. The showers were warm and powerful, but cleanliness could have been better. The staff were generally nice and helpful, with a special mention to Julio, who was exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout my stay. It's important to remember that this is a hostel, not a hotel, so it comes with the benefits of meeting new friends and the drawbacks of potential noise. Overall, The Mango Tree Ipanema Hostel is a good choice for budget-conscious travelers looking for a convenient and sociable place to stay in Rio. With a few improvements, it could be even better.
- The sheets didn’t have elasticated corners, which resulted in waking up directly on the mattress—a hygiene concern. - Lockers were placed under the beds, making them somewhat difficult to access. - The cleanliness of the showers could have been better. - As a hostel, it can be noisy, which might be a drawback for some.

Very good location, friendly&cool staff, nice common area's. Very safe! No parties or loud noise after 10pm a plus. Bed good, own roller curtain for privacy in the room, even 2 lockers pp, own lamp and power outlets. Fine airco&even fan in room. Daily cleaning, loved the free drinking water hub, own hostel whatsupp group for activities&to connect. Overall great price-value for a hostel, much recommended!
Small points only: there could be much more hangers in the bathrooms and more spoons& some renewd cutlery in the kitchen. The ventilation of the room with outside air to refresh. But overall no big issues, all very positive :)

Nice location and lounge area, Bar with drinks but only until 10 pm (good for noise). Very good vibes
Kitchen closes at 5pm already..we never had the Chance therefore to make dinner. Too many rules like wash your dishes or it will cost you amount X. The Windows are either closed completely with very little Light or open for everyone to look in.

Top location, walking distance to Ipanema beach and close to the metro, restaurants and supermarkets. The rooms were safe and comfortable. You are handed a card key which keeps the dorms safely locked. The hostel in general has a cool chill vibe. The front desk staff are very professional and helpful.
The kitchen is very small and the common fridge is absolutely packed with food which makes it hard to find a place to store your own. The dorm beds could have a privacy curtain, since some other guests (like the women in my dorm) would come back from partying and have their bed lights on until 6 am. There were only 3 full bathrooms for the entire hostel, and they were all very old and need maintenance. The bar guy could be a bit more enthusiastic. I never felt like having a drink at the hostel because he was always on his phone and would never smile or say hi back to me. So, not very inviting. It was no surprise that the bar was always empty.

I liked the place, it was clean and well distributed. It has many facilities to enjoy, many bathrooms, places to rest, etc. The staff is amazing, always willing to help and even to have a random conversation with you. I loved the fact that even that i left the hostel 2 days ago, they allowed me to store my bags at the lockers before my travel so i didn't have to look for a luggage storage or even walk through the city csrrying my bags.
There was some places at the hostel that felt quite wet so it had a weird smell and some mosquitoes.

Very friendly and attentive staff, always willing to help, Organizing events and giving informations Great location!
The room was very humid and had some mold stains on the walls. We had to use both an available dehumidifier and the air conditioner to achieve a satisfactory level. Since Ipanema is an expensive neighbourhood, the value for money appears to be good.

First of all, the location is perfect. Activities in the hostel are nice and fun. The staff are very friendly. vini and bartender guy.
Some things I see as negative; It would be better if there were curtains on the beds. Also, the room I stayed in was very noisy because it was close to the common area. No one interfered with the people who were shouting, playing guitar and singing in the common area at 2 a.m.
