Location (safe and nice area) and the staff is friendly to be Rio. Free beach chair and umbrella for one day. Having a microwave.
It wasn't really the hostel's fault but I had to change to a private room after first night, I got the top bunk and it was so high for me I hurt my feet. Decoration in the shared bedroom they're windowless boxes resembling hospital's rooms. I think there was mold in the new room due to no ventilation and humidity. Kitchen stairs' design wasn't safe. Kitchen utensils were in bad state and uncleaned.

Very friendly and attentive staff. Free welcome drink. Bed linen included (byo towel) Discount on future stays after first visit. Curtains, charging ports, and night lights for each bed. Reasonable price. Compact, basic rooms - good for people who want to see the sights during the day and not hang around at the accommodation. Welcoming bar New friends from around the world. It's in a safe area right near Ipanema beach. I enjoyed my stay.
Listening to my roomie snore all night (out of the hostel's control haha!)

Location, this place is just 2 streets away from the beach Ipanema. Good WiFi, comfortable beds with curtains, clean bathrooms. Cool staff.
Staff at times was a bit pushy to order drinks or food, seemed fake friendship by times. Staff enter the rooms at everytime without knocking the doors and also start cleaning stuff way before the checkout hour. Cocktails had too much ice and not enough caipirinha and were a bit overpriced.

The easiness to make friends here is exceptional. You can make friends within your first 10 minutes in this hostel and all go together to the beach. That’s pretty awesome. The location is great, safe, and a block from one of the best beaches in Rio. They have their own kiosk on the beach that is half off umbrellas and chairs for guests, as well as one time being free. They are located in area filled with amazing restaurants all around.
The beds are literally like a gymnastics mat. They are not comfortable and to make matters worse, the pillows are also this gymnastics mat material. There was one bed in my dorm room that was a regular fabric soft mattress. If they were to upgrade all of the mattresses and pillows to this softer more regular mattress this hostel would be alot alot better. The drinks downstairs are very weak and not worth the money and charging R$7.70 Reais for a large water bottle is taking advantage of foreigners. Drinks on their new bar rooftop are a bit stronger.

I stayed here for about a week and a half and had a fantastic experience. The location is perfect, everything in the rooms were functional, clean, and well maintained, and the common areas were cool little relaxing spots where they served good food and drinks. The staff was helpful, friendly, and super organized, all the marks of a 10/10 hostel. But what really set El Misti apart was how they supported me when I got sick during my stay, a traveler’s worst nightmare. They helped me find local medical care, helped move all my things to a private room that I changed my booking during that time, made sure I had what I needed, like food, water, and regularly checked in on me to see how I was doing. Cristal, in particular, was incredibly kind, but the entire team really went above and beyond. I’m truly grateful and appreciative. This hostel isn’t just a place to stay, it’s a place that takes care of YOU. That’s a quality that really elevates them among others. 12/10 would recommend!
Ac wasn’t controlled in the Dorms.

El misti is honestly one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at. It had good facilities (comfy beds etc), had activities on every day (which made it easy for a solo traveller to meet others), had a nice bar with reasonably priced food and was in a really good location.

I really love the location of this hostel - I could do sunbathing anytime at Ipanema beach as it's located just a block away from the main beach road. It's so easy to mingle and connect with other solo travellers as they have a series of events on a daily basis to join (some are free) and people are so willing to open up and befriend you. The location is generally safe on the day and good for beginners and those travellers who are new to Rio. Awesome 24 hour security. Convenience stores and many restaurants nearby. Customer discounts for dine-in in the Misti bar for staying at the property. Everyone treats you like a close friend and a great family. I can't wait to go back some time in the future. Free storage after checkout.
It's sad to leave the property after just 3 days. I wish it could have been at least 1 week to stay there. I left with a heavy heart, eyeing for my return in the future. Bathroom could have been cleaner but that's managed with regular cleaning - we can inform via WhatsApp group for any concerns. After a while, we get used to the cleanliness concern since hostel mates are regularly coming back from day or night long hike, workout or drink events at any time of the day and thus I'm grateful for everything that I experienced there.

I found the hostel through Instagram Stories, and one of the first people I met was Guilherme. He was super friendly, gave me great tips about Rio, joined us in the hostel activities, and was always making sure we were connecting with other guests. I have to admit I was a bit nervous since it was my first solo trip… but it’s honestly impossible to feel alone at El Misti. Everything was amazing! I also want to thank the girls at reception Cristal, Ana, and Jordana and the whole bar and cleaning staff. Everything was perfect. It was definitely one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. And yes… I’ll be back! 💙 Also thanks to Luis, Aailish and Lea, all amazing people!!

Great hostal for solo travellers. You know a place is great when they leave the hostal but won’t leave the hostal WhatsApp group and return to the hostal day. It’s the place to stay during carnival. The staff will becoming your friends and there is always something happening. Great location, near the beach and all the other shops. The cleaners are in and out the dorms regularly but I think the hostal could benefit from a deep clean. Top bunks get neglected and in my dorm there was a rented dirty towel build up.

I thought I wouldn’t like it, but it so nice, I met sooo many people around the world. This place make u connect, and make you experience in Rio more memorable. I would definitely come back. The staff is great as well, there’s this guy called MatĂas or Mateo. He was very friendly since the first moment, giving me a great first impression of the place. The also do activity during the day so u can meet and connect with people.
I didn’t like that they control the AC, sometimes I wanted to have a nap during the day, and I couldn’t cause it was soooo hot, is impossible. I didn’t like that there’s only one till in the bar for food and drink, it was very small and it can get crowded when people order. The drink in there are bad. The Capiriña or any cocktail it just ice, and they are not tasty like they sell in the beach. Also I didn’t like the partnership they have in the beach, the staff in there are rude, compared with others sellers around, that they seem more fun and engaging.
