This was such an absolutely lovely hotel. We had narrowed our hotel search down to just 2 places in Phnom Penh – one closer to the river and this one. We were so glad we picked this. On “paper” it appeared to have all the right elements and the reality was beyond our expectations. It’s not an inexpensive hotel (by Asian standards), but it certainly was not unaffordable. The staff were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. They did everything within their power to help us out when needed. This is a well run hotel. The room was spotlessly clean and well decorated, the bed so comfortable, there was a writing desk, a bar fridge and plenty of smart TV options. Yes, the rooms are a little on the small side and the staff always apologised to us about this, but when they are so comfortable and cosy, it absolutely did not matter. We ended up extending our initial 1 night booking to 4. We became unwell (bug caught in Hoi An) during our stay and felt that this was the best hotel to be unwell in – we never needed to go far to find whatever we needed and the comfort just made things better. The bathroom didn’t feel pokey and had all the usual amenities. Oh … and the restaurant downstairs … top spot for coffee or a meal. The location when viewing on Google Maps appeared to be a little away from the “main” part of town (ie, the Palace and river) but it’s actually a highly desirable part of the city. Every facility needed was in the area – mobile phone shops, ATMs, little grocery stores, laundry places and of course all the top restaurants. It was just one street away from the Russian market. There were always Grab / Pass App tuk tuks available. It was also pretty close to the Tuol Sleng Genocide museum. To get to places like the Killing Fields, you’d need transport anyway regardless of where you stay. The area was also very quiet – we never heard any traffic noise and the streets surrounding the area didn’t feel chaotic. We'd stay here again for sure.

Nothing to dislike at all

Loved everything about this hotel, was definitely the highlight of my solo trip in Phnom Penh! Absolutely beautiful decor, top-notch customer service (both front desk staff and cafe staff), super comfy bed! I was travelling alone as a female and the hotel made me feel really safe :) The area is surrounded by cute and yummy food options too.

The room isn’t big but it was perfectly fine for me as a solo traveller. I think it would be fine even for a couple :) The location is not as near to the tourist/sightseeing locations, but it was not an issue for me as I took tuktuks everywhere (since the weather was so hot).

La Chronique is a really lovely hotel. The staff were excellent and always friendly and helpful. The hotel has been beautifully and thoughtfully designed. The room I stayed in was small but perfect for one person. I like that I could put my bag into the cupboard so it was out of the way. The bed was super comfortable. The hotel was easy to get to from the airport and its in a cute aria surrounded by coffee shops and restaurants from around the world. I highly recommend staying here and I would stay here again.

The shower was a little small but other than that the hotel is perfect.

Both the property and its staff were warm, attentive to me and my wife's needs, and ensured we were comfortable during our stay. The room was cozy and well-lit. Overall our stay at La Chronique was memorable and very peaceful. The best part about the property was its location. Situated close to the famous Russian Market, it was the perfect place for souvenir shopping and cafe hopping. The area in general was bustling with highly rated restaurants, but, in our opinion the La Chronique Cafe serves the most amazing coffee. We loved their Madeleine and Canelé and would highly recommend their Breakfast selections.

Nothing really comes to mind that we didn't like about the place. It was exactly what was shown on the platform, maybe even better. So no complaints from our end.

What’s not to like about La Chronique? It’s an amazing hotel, cozy, comfortable, extremely clean, beautifully located in south Phnom Penh, just a 10-15 min tuk tuk drive to the main attractions. Rooms are great, clean, beds super comfortable, and the bistrot/bar serves great food and drinks. But what I think deserves a special mention is their staff, that are always there to welcome you with a great smile. Special thanks to Simas, at the reception, she did her best to make me feel at home. I really loved this place and the room rates are almost unbelievable. I will go there again.

Nothing, everything was just perfect

The staff were very welcoming when we arrived. The hotel itself and our room specifically was very clean. The wifi was reliable and we enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant each morning. We didn't have breakfast included in our booking but we found the prices very reasonable. Excellent flat whites helped kickstart our days exploring the city. Lots of great restaurants nearby. Other amenities too like massage places, grocery store, laundry service and barber shop. We really enjoyed staying here.

By far the best hotel during my 3 month tour of SEA. The hotel room was very modern and clean. The bed was comfortable and the shower was powerful with plenty of hot water. The towels were very soft and lush. Everything in the room work as expected. But the staff really set this hotel apart from all the others. Everyone was very professional and greeted me with a smile everyday. I look forward to returning to the hotel. The restaurant below was very nice offering a wide choice of dishes. There are plenty of food options on the same street as the hotel plus a few coffee shops and a bakery.

Extremely welcoming staff that really made the stay! Very helpful about good restaurants around and places to visit. Bed very comfortable and room clean. Located next to Eric Keiser's French pastry shop Very close to S21 Prison

The room is small and just right for 1 person but could be quite cramped with 2. One of the hand towels had a hole, but that was immediately changed. There were some small bugs crawling in the bed and some very small ants. (not bed bugs) I could feel them on my skin which was quite unpleasant and annoying. No pool

Someone wrote this is the best hotel in SE Asia and I agree. The room is small but clean, quiet and dark at night. AC perfect. You could not find more friendly staff, who go out of their way, anywhere in this Region. The Chronique Café on the ground floor is a particular highlight for creatives and remote workers. It is about 30 m to Sisowath Quay with a Tuk Tuk. Price-quality ration incredible.

It's not totally central. But transport is so easy, and I would live there for a year if I had the time.

We adored our stay at La Chronique. Wonderful staff — super friendly, caring and helpful. Each person was terrific, wish we could remember all the names. Sing Mas was so sweet, the gentleman at the reception also, the valets. And the staff in the restaurant also were so kind and attentive. It is an intimate hotel, very well located and we enjoyed the decor. Guestrooms are very comfortable, small yet the typical size for a big city. Very fairly priced.
