The hotel is allocated next to the ferry and looks really nice. The owners take care here. Our apartment on main floor had two exits with options to sit outside and on both sides you look at the sea. We loved the wooden interiour. Besides the bed you have a table and microwave/toaster to survive if you don't find a restaurant a day. It was possible to book fantastic grizzly/whale tours from or with direct departure from Cormorant Island. (Tip: you can travel between Cormorant Island and Malcolm Island for free)

This place is treasure. Seine Boat Inn is a reclaimed drygoods store with original floors, exposed fir beams and beautiful woodwork lovingly crafted by Colin, the owner. The covered deck, a full to the brim potted flower garden, welcomed us as we drank coffee in the morning, lunched and even shared charcuterie and wine in the evening with other guests. From this old harbor building, we listened to the tide moving in and out as it spilled over the stones of the shore beneath us, watched gulls, turn stones, crows and eagles, and felt the edges of the mist rolling across the bay wisped away the by the rising warmth of the sun. The reflection of the ferry boat in the night waters made a picture perfect inversion !

The kitchenette lacked a stovetop and the sink was very small for the dishes we generated. We love to cook and ate-in all but one meal in five days. There were no screened doors or windows to let in the fragrance of the flowers or the sea night air.

Wooden suite above the water with a 180° window view of the bay and the strait.Excellently equipped with amenities and kitchen utensils and absolutly clean. Wonderful staff who seem to enjoy having guests and sharing their knowledge and experiences about the island. Adventuring Alert bay is a unique experience...we will definitely come again.

Check in was easy and Terry provided great information about what to see. The inn is conveniently located and beautifully maintained. Rooms are compact and efficient with enough to make stay comfortable.

Lights outside the door did not turn off at night (and shone through transom windows)which made sleep difficult. Blackout blinds would help.

What a wonderful location! Literally on the water, so you are surrounded by the sound of waves. The manager was most helpful, the unit was spacious and airy, and the coffee was good. I really enjoyed my stay.

I'm glad I had a sleep mask with me. There is no way to block the ambient light coming into the unit: lovely in the daytime, but not so great at night!

What a spectacular view! We had a room right on the sea that felt very private from the rest of the place. Our host was very accommodating and friendly. We needed a break away from everything to enjoy our time together in a comfortable and beautiful place and Seine Boat Inn delivered! Would definitely stay there again!

Nothing, it was great!

It’s just the most lovely place to stay on the island. It’s close to everything. Lovely views of the water and the garden deck. We had the semi kitchen and managed fine but if you are staying for several days I would recommend the full kitchen.

There was nothing we didn’t like

The rooms are very clean and have a nice warmth in terms of the overall design. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and the views were outstanding.

There was very little in the way of cookware. A pot was provided but no pan, which made breakfast a little trickier to pull together. There were some minor existing issues with the toilet. It would be helpful if bathroom appliances were provided in the event of a back up.

The Seine Boat Inn is incredible. Built over water, you can hear the tide ebb and flow underneath. A short walk from the ferry terminal, plenty of parking for those who have a car. You do need to check the ferry timetable. We had the best nights sleep since we have been in Canada. Convenience and pharmacy store near by. Great sunsets

Everything was great for us

The location is great in Alert Bay along the main road right the ferry terminal. There's an awesome array of plants and flowers growing in front of the rooms/office as you walk in. Parking right across the street. The rooms are spacious, clean, and quiet. You have access to a back patio that looks out on the ocean with a bbq if you want. The room I was in (103) was well stocked with fridge, microwave, and plates bowls cutlery etc. Strong wifi available and super comfy bed as well. Last, but not least, TerryLynn is a great host that will take good care of getting you set up in you room.
