Stayed there many times over the years. Never disappointed until now.

Breakfast was always included with the accommodation but apparently if you book through booking.com that policy has changed. If you want your breakfast included you have to book directly with the hotel. Not impressed. We will reconsider our options regarding other accommodations or a different booking agency. The Hume used to be our go to place in Nelson. We always eat at their facilities and use their massage service. They have lost a customer for the sake of a complimentary breakfast which was not even their regularly priced meal as it was a restricted menu. We usually go along to get along but this policy seems a bit shortsighted on the hotel's part. Cheers

Location was great, staff very helpful and friendly. The rooms were very clean and the beds also very comfortable. We were in a room above the pub so were warned it may be a bit noisy, but we didn't have any issues at all. Love the old original, heritage decor. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again.

Parking can be a bit tricky. You have to find street parking, or try your luck in their very small parking lot. There is a city parkade available but we did luck out with street parking. Just be mindful of parking meter times. The only thing I would have loved would have been a gym/fitness room.

What I really liked about the Hume Hotel & Spa was its personal service. I understand that it has been owned by the same family for more than 40 years, and, yes, you can see it, rather, feel it. Some of the staff have been working there for more than 20 years. Now, is there a better indicator that a happy place for staff isn't also a happy place for guests?

Hard to say, really. We only stayed one night, but I could have easily spent another couple of nights.

They have everything you need in it. It’s super clean, spacious rooms, confortable beds, super central location. Friendly staff. They have a beer garden with amazing food along with their indoor restaurant. It’s very charming :)

You could heard the pub from the 3rd floor at night, but it was manageable :)

We were upgraded from a standard room to a 2 bedroom suite. Great view of the mountains and the river.

We didn’t realize that if you don’t book directly with the hotel, you Don’t get the delicious breakfast. We paid $38 dollars for breakfast. We always choose the Hume because the breakfast is great. We were disappointed to have to go off site and hunt for affordable food.

Very convenient central location for access to the town. We asked for a quiet room and had a lovely room on the 4th floor. Be aware there are some rooms over the bar area where on some nights there is live music. Evening meal was enjoyable and the food on offer a bit different from the normal standard boring North American menu. Breakfast is included in the price and was very good. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

As this is an older building in the centre of town parking is an issue. However the adjacent parking metres are free from 5.00pm to 9.00am the next day. On arrival guests are diverted to use the main entrance which has several steps up to the door when there is another entrance on the adjacent street which does not involve hauling a heavy suitcase up the steps. My suggestion is to make the other entrance more obvious for those arriving with bags.

Staff are amazing and very friendly and engaging. Jody in particular was amazing and made me feel comfortable. Food was delicious. The breakfast salad was a new experience but one I really enjoyed. Room 331 was amazing and the views exceptional.

Just the price 😊. Prices are competitive and reasonable for the quality. I'm just very used to staying in cheap accommodation including hostels.

Free parking for some guests and not others. I had to pay 12 dollars a day while my friend paid nothing. Parking machine ate my credit card, no way to retrieve prior to leaving. They have converted the parking lot they had into a outside Pub great for them but guests are punished re parking. I think it should be an all or nothing, free parking for all or none. I would say when booking demand free parking to ensure you get a pass if none are available check out other Hotels in the area.

Great breakfast and lunch. Room was very well appointed. Can’t beat the location for walk ability.

Not being able to at least temporarily park to unload our things. Had to park in parade right next door and haul our things in. We were on a week long road trip so had a lot of stuff. We managed though. Could be an issue for those with mobility issues.

The hotel was in a perfect location for exploring Nelson. There are many restaurants nearby and we were planning to have a drink in the Library Bar before looking for someplace to eat. We loved the atmosphere in the Library (with music playing), and it was hot outside so we decided to stay right there for dinner. Loved it! Also, we were lucky to arrive at a time when there was a parking space available next door and we were given a complimentary pass.
