Even though the property might look a bit dated, the units were clean, the bed was comfy and it was a great central location for the wedding in Duncan we were visiting for

The fan in the bathroom didn't work which made things humid in the room as the bathroom didn't dry out. Some more comfortable seating in the room would have been appreciated as well. I don't think I'd consider the units worth >$200/night but we understand with minimal places to stay in Cowichan that may explain the pricing for hotels in the area.

I stayed in unit 29 for 7 days. Had everything I needed. It’s an older hotel but in good shape. The staff and owner are so courteous they treat you like you’re the only one there. I understand they are new owners and their treatment of patrons show. Most accommodating.

Parking is a bit lacking for larger vehicles but that can’t be helped.for units that don’t have a freezer an ice machine would be nice.

Great location right on waterfront. 5 minute walk to restaurants. The property is dated for sure, but it’s clean, beds are comfy, everything worked as it should and it’s reasonably priced. The hospitality is top notch. Thank you for a lovely stay!

If you don’t mind an older “motel” type stay … there is nothing not to like.

Extremely clean and quiet rooms. Close to the local restaurants. I liked the huge Lighted mirror in the bathroom that had a heat function for for when it fogs up. Nice little patio to sit outside and enjoy the view.

Room 25 is sold as a "deluxe" room because it has a "better" view, but is a tiny room and costs more than than the room with two beds a door down, which is bigger and has an "obstructed view. Obstructed is not really the case. The AC unit is extremely noisy. The pillows were the overstuffed kind that kink your neck.Shower had good hot water but could use a hand bar.

The front desk was very accommodating. Amelia the housekeeper was very friendly and our room was very well maintained.The microwave, dishes, dish cloth, tea towel and dish washing liquid made our stay without hassle. my friend has many food allergies so we could so easily prepare food and clean up. The room was very simple yet so functional. The round table and chairs gave the room a "homey feel". Although our time was short, it was a wonderful "getaway". God bless you. Johanna

The railing on the steps was a bit wobbly.

After many visits, I AM always impressed with Team Sunny, Sahil, Abby and Bishal who take great care to ensure their guests are comfortable and feel safe in their accommodations. The beautiful Souls who work in housekeeping are lovely, and always ready to help out with a smile, making my stay so enjoyable. As a woman traveling solo for work, I highly suggest staying at the Wessex and becoming part of the family🐻🙏. Thank you!!

Very nice stay. The beds are comfortable and clean and the layout is perfect for a traveler wanting all the comforts of home. The kitchen is a big bonus. They should seal the door better as we had a hard time keeping the room warm on a minus 13 evening. Apart from that a wonderful stay and will be back.

Door leaks cold air. They would save a fortune in heating costs by just putting a new rubber seal around the door. The outside doesn’t do the inside justice.

We stayed in June and the location was fantastic. It’s right next to the water of Cowichan Bay and our room even had a balcony with a view over the ocean. The room had a full kitchen. The room is pretty dated but everything from the kitchen, bed, and bathroom was exceptionally clean. This is one of the few accommodations in and around the Duncan area that is actually clean. Would definitely stay again

Room was very clean and amenities were well thought of and practical and complete kitchen! While the room itself was dated, I was impressed by the cleanliness of the room. Staff was very attentive and helpful as we asked for a late check in. Solution was very practical and allowed for a seamless check in. Location was great, and breakfast recommendation was spot on. Thank you!

Because the facility is older, there was that musty old house smell that welcomes you on first entry, but that said, the room was immaculately clean and the bathroom too!

YOUR STAFF ABI AND SUNNY ARE NICE AND GOOD. THE UNIT FLOOR ARE NOISY WHEN YOU WALK, SOUNDS SQUEEKKING SO I NEED TO WALK SLOWLY NOT TO DISTURB UNIT DOWN BELOW. NO SPOON AND FORK TO USE, FOR US COUPLE, I THINK AT LEAST 3 OR 4 PAIRS WILL BE ENOUGH. DRINKING GLASS TO USE, 3 GLASS TO USE WILL BE ENOUGH AND 2 COFFEE MUG AT LEAST. THANKS

PLEASE PROVIDE A BATH SOAP THAT BUBBLES ENOUGH, THE SOAP WE USED DOES NOT BUBBLES ENOUGH. BUT WE STILL ABLE TO USED YOUR FACILITY ON OUR NEEDS AND EXPECTATION. BUT TO INFORM YOU, THE FIRST UNIT GIVEN TO US AT GROUND FLOOR I THINK UNIT 21 SMELLS BAD OR STINKY AND WE ASK ABI TO CHANGE THE UNIT BUT IT WAS AT THE SECOND FLOOR AND I HAVE DIFFICULTY IN STAIR BECAUSE I HAVE AN INJURED KNEE BUT NOTHING TO DO JUST TOOK THAT UNIT 50. STILL THANK YOU!
