The view with a balcony overlooking the bay was exceptional! The location was right on the water and right on the main road with access to restaurants, shops, pubs, cruises. You couldn't do better for location. Even though we didn't stay long enough to use it, even the pool had a view of the bay! We had a standard queen room with 2 queen beds and each bed had several pillows to choose from for maximum comfort. Not exactly breakfast, but the complimentary donut (individually wrapped) and coffee in the morning was nice.

It was a bit pricey - but really, the location was worth it. My only complaint would be that the toilet was mere inches from the tub. VERY tight,

Bedding was freshly laundered, smelled lovely and spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable. The coffee and doughnuts in Reception were a nice touch. Welcome by staff was really nice and they were really helpful in terms of where to eat and times of the tides. Didn’t get an opportunity to use the pool but folks were. Decent sized car park. Really pleasant location - loved St Andrews - will come back again and definitely stay here again.

For us old folks the lighting in the room could have been brighter.

Room had a beautiful waterfront view. It was fascinating to watch the tide come in and go out. Perfect view. Maybe a 5 minute walk to restaurants and downtown area. Front desk went above and beyond helping guests carry in their luggage to their room. Staff asked if the guests if the needed anything every day or could they be of any assistance. Made for a wonderful holiday.

Nothing not to like.

The staff were very friendly upon our arrival and gave us all of the information we needed. Check-in was seamless. The room was incredibly spacious and clean with very nice furnishings. And the balcony, which also had chairs and a table, offers a beautiful view of the bay. The beds were very comfortable with nice linens and the shower was great - good pressure and lots of hot water. It was also nice to have a refrigerator in the room, and, although we didn't use it, the microwave is a nice touch and could be useful at times. Also, there was a bonus in that they provided complimentary donuts, yogurt and coffee/tea in the morning, which we weren't expecting. Overall, this was much, much better than the 3-star rating would suggest.

The only improvement I could suggest would be the addition of an elevator. The stairs are steep and a little bit of a challenge with any amount of luggage, although the staff offered to assist, which was very nice.

Would have liked a kettle to make a cup of tea. Even though there was a coffee machine. The indoor swimming pool was scruffy looking and the water was cold. The bottom and the sides of the pool needs a repaint. Otherwise our suite was very comfortable and the staff were very helpful.

Beds were uncomfortable. Stairs..way to narrow. Bathroom was too small. Air condition was very loud and if it wasn't going..the room would have been too hot. The pool was very uninviting as it needed tended to..

The location of the Hotel is brilliant. The rooms are well proportioned and comfortable. Every morning a sunrise from the balcony and every evening a beautiful sunset from the balcony. We enjoyed this with a great cup of coffee, provided for free at the reception, in our balcony chairs. The view from the hotel across the harbor and the see makes you realize what a wonderful place St.Andrews is.

The ventilator systems in the hotel are a little noisy and annoying, but the beds were very comfortable.

1. Parking. We had to park our car on the street and it was not a good feeling. 2. The air conditioning unit was extremely noisy. 3. The bathroom sink cabinet did not have handles for opening. The trash can was located under the sink and it was awkward to use the trash can.

The rooms were dark and tired looking. Painting and bedding covers in blues and greens and gray would make the room more nautical. Walls painted in a lighter colour and lighter coloured furniture would enhance the room. The mood would be more cheerful in keeping with the fantastic view of the ocean.

Our room was on the first floor, which if you request ocean front means you get to open up your door and walk out on the grass, access the sea wall, and sit on Adirondack chairs provided for each room. Breakfast is yogurt and doughnuts but at least they have a variety of coffee and tea plus decaf (decaf is difficult to find on the Cabot trail). They also provide a carton of 2% milk - I appreciated that. The sink outside the bathroom was wonderful - multiple people can get ready at once. traveling with a multigenerational family - bathrooms are always a challenge :) The reception folks are extraordinarily helpful and there is a liquor store across the street so if you want a glass of wine - pop across the street.

This isn't necessarily a criticism; I want to bring this to the attention of the public as this may assist someone in future planning. There are no elevators, I had to schlep my elderly parent luggage down and up narrow stairs. Accessing the car means you must go up the stairs, if you are traveling with folks who can not navigate stairs, you must request rooms on the same floor as the reception/check-in area.
